Why do Xehanort likes to go after little kids and possessing them?

I think it's very much what Lea said.  Master Xehanort wants a young vessel that is full of life and opportunity, not to mention his original body was aged and declining due to all of the darkness exposure.  Also, I wonder if people such as Eraqus would've been too hard to use as vessels because of their skill and/or amount of light in their hearts.

Creeper jokes aside, he wants/needs to be young again. Eraqus would have given him a bit more time, yes, but he still wasn't that much younger than Xehanort and he needed at least more than 10 more years to accomplish his goal. With Ventus or Terra he would have been able to live to see his goal accomplished AND be around long enough to rule the universe afterward. Not only that but he needed the pure advantage of youth to make all the experience and power he gained even more raw and powerful. There's a reason why he's harder to beat when he has Terra's body than when he was just an old man. Another reason he went after Ven and Terra and not Eraqus was because he would have had to fill the person's heart/body up with Darkness in order for his heart to be compatible. Eraqus clearly was more on the side of Light than anyone else in the series, so naturally that would never work. He had his sights set on Ven originally because he was young, had potential, and could easily be molded into whatever purpose he wanted. But since Ven was either too weak or too defiant to accept the Darkness in his heart Xehanort had given up on using him as his vessel, turning his sights to Terra with whom he sensed a greater potential for Darkness due to his desire for strength. From that point on after having been split up into so many versions of himself, his main goal was just to gather individuals who were well suited to become other versions of himself, the only requirement being that they have an acceptable amount of Darkness within them so that he can place a piece of his heart in each of them. The fact that he had set his sights on Sora, Roxas, and Riku was simply just due to the fact that they had those potentials within them, Riku clearly having had trouble with his own Darkness in the past, Roxas being a clean sleight who much like Ven could have been molded into a dark vessel given time (just like the other members of the original Org. XIII), and Sora, while a bit of a wild card and least obvious choice, still had some potential as he could be rather reckless at times and he was storing up a huge amount of pain within him, which in the past could have the potential to drag him into Darkness should he ever give into his despair. Although that doesn't matter much as the main reason Sora was in the process of becoming a vessel was simply because he went too deep into the Chasm of Dreams, but his own weaknesses were still used to lure him further and further. Point is that by this point Xehanort doesn't care either way if youth is really part of the equation or not, he's just looking for worthy enough candidates who have an exceptional amount of Darkness or the potential for enough Darkness within them, and some of those candidates just happen to be teenaged boys. He's not so much of a pedo creeper as he is more of a reference to the anime trope of a character being hinted at or confused for a creeper when really they're just messing around with people or they're just being creepy and aren't aware that it comes across that way to other people...there's gotta be a shorter way of saying that...
