Sora96 17,256 Posted July 22, 2015 The evidence that supports this keeps adding up. Auron spotted in Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer Motomu Toriyama confirming he is working hard on a new project that will be announced this year. Kazushige Nojima's infamous novella X-2.5 Nojima's audio drama that follows X-2.5 Nojima admitting he would like to see a X-3 X/X-2 HD's amazing sales. X & X/X-2 HD's recent awards Square Enix's quick PlayStation 4 port of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster that still includes the audio drama following all this. Toriyama being on the Final Fantasy Committee* Shintaro Takai, art director of the Final Fantasy X series including X/X-2 HD and Daisuke Watanabe (scenario writer on X & X-2) are both without their names attached to any announced projects. Verendus from NeoGAF believes a X spin-off is in development ff-reunion.net thinks Toriyama is making X-3. *Motomu Toriyama is a member of the four person Final Fantasy Committee and the other three are in charge of a AAA Final Fantasy title. The main purpose of the committee is according to Kitase "We get together and update each other with current information or issues on our projects. [We] make sure there are no release date overlaps or bug issues." In other words, If Toriyama isn't heavily involved on a new Final Fantasy game it would make no sense for him to be on the committee. 3 Terra VII-XIII, WakelessDream and kingdomlanelover reacted to this
Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted July 22, 2015 But, the Novella and Audio Drama aren't very good from what I've read/heard of them. Actually they're pretty stupid so.... Isn't X-3 kinda...doomed from the start? Also, why make an X-3 anyway? I question the necessity of X-2 to this day too. (Even though I liked that game, it was a bit unneeded.) X-2 was created due to fan demand following the Eternal Calm, the team's desire for a new challenge and the desire to give the game a happy ending. Nero Kunivas 3,046 Posted July 22, 2015 X-2 was created due to fan demand following the Eternal Calm, the team's desire for a new challenge and the desire to give the game a happy ending. Is that so? Hmm...well, doesn't that kinda...lessen the hardship they went through? Is Yuna that unable to move on after 2 Years? Kinda like how everything leading up to X-3 (Sin returning and all the dead rising again, potentially meaning Seymour, Auron, Jecht and others will cheat death.) makes everything pointless. Shana09 5,769 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Wait doesn't this mean Final Fantasy X-3 still needs to be announced? Hinting doesn't mean a 100% confirmation. I still hope it doesn't come to fruition since X-2 was pretty lame compared to X and the novella really did not make it any better with the whole "Everyone is back". If they do make it, I hope it is actually decent. Like how Lightning Returns isn't that great but I still liked it because I found the gameplay fun. hatok 6,413 Posted July 22, 2015 Well Toriyama still said 2015. then it's either not X-3 or Square isn't making a very smart decision regarding the order of their announcements admittedly it could go either way
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 22, 2015 then it's either not X-3 or Square isn't making a very smart decision regarding the order of their announcements admittedly it could go either way Well they're changing them with little notice. Nier New Project was going to be announced at TGS but they wanted a really Japanese game at E3.

Kinda like how everything leading up to X-3 (Sin returning and all the dead rising again, potentially meaning Seymour, Auron, Jecht and others will cheat death.) makes everything pointless. If anything, the things I've heard about the audio drama are what would negate from the hardships of the original FFX. What with Sin returning and such. Also considering the fact that there may not be the same dynamics going into FFX-3, it'd certainly be a challenge to make the storyline work and/or resonate with FFX fans. But then, this is really just my thoughts on the matter. *shrug* Edited July 22, 2015 by Zay
143436611Xxcc 1,105 Posted July 22, 2015 That would make about 4 games that Square needs to push out by 2020... The longevity of the current gen doesn't look like its surpassing 2025 so they better get on getting out the games they need too release before they take on even BIGGER games. Ummm, XV isn't far away and Toriyama is great at getting his games out in a orderly fashion.
Heartless Plush 177 Posted July 22, 2015 Hopefully not. Let X die gracefully. Again I love X with a passion but X-2 was unnecessary. As will a third installment...not that I wouldn't buy it though, so...whatever. 1 Zay reacted to this

They've got too much on their plates as it is.. I hope its not X-3.. At least not now..
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 22, 2015 Im talking about Square as a whole.... They've got too much on their plates as it is.. I hope its not X-3.. At least not now.. Hardly. Only Nomura takes forever to release things.
143436611Xxcc 1,105 Posted July 22, 2015 Hardly. Only Nomura takes forever to release things. So youre saying between FFXV, KHIII, FF7 Remake, and FFX-3 it wouldnt be too much?
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 22, 2015 So youre saying between FFXV, KHIII, FF7 Remake, and FFX-3 it wouldnt be too much? Nope. XV is nearly done and is partly outsourced to HexaDrive and another developer. KH3's team is completely separate. VII Remake is at least partially being developed by CyberConnect. X-3 would also most likely be outsourced in part to another developer, Virtuos is very likely.
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 23, 2015 The announcement trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake features potentially a gigantic tease. Very late in the trailer you can catch a glimpse of Auron on the far right. I've taken a screenshot of the press version which you can view below. Additionally, when Barrett comes into view, the man can be seen raising his head in typical Auron fashion with his trademark sunglasses. It is a lot harder to catch this shot but I've done my best. This only adds to everything else. Motomu Toriyama confirming he is working hard on a new project that will be announced this year. Kazushige Nojima's infamous novella X-2.5 Nojima's audio drama that follows X-2.5 Nojima admitting he would like to see a X-3 Toriyama being on the Final Fantasy Committee X/X-2 HD's amazing sales. X & X/X-2 HD's recent awards Square Enix executives continually being asked about X-3 in early 2014. Square Enix's quick PlayStation 4 port of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster that still includes the audio drama following all this. 6 WakelessDream, Terra VII-XIII, Soravids and 3 others reacted to this

KeybladeLordCheeseCurd 1,542 Posted July 23, 2015 Either it's a hint at X-3 or they're connecting each game now.
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 23, 2015 Either it's a hint at X-3 or they're connecting each game now. The X games are essentially prequels to the VII titles, just hundreds and hundreds of years in the past.
Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted July 23, 2015 I'm always digging! it would be cool if not only this was a tease for X-3, but a tease for other characters coming to 7 as a non-canon bonus thing. *dreams to put squall and cloud in a party*
