Fire Emblem: Return - RP Thread.

Recommended Posts

Alexander stretched himself, as he was now feeling the cold hitting him again, he stopped feeling it during the fight, due to the adrenaline, and that vulnerary didn't help much either, he shivered a bit but tried to ignore it, he looked at the newcomers, "Who are these guys?" he asked as he looked at the others.

He walked over to Catrain, "Hey, nice job! gotta say though, wasn't expecting to meet Risen here" he said.

(Brace yourself now...)

"Fine Brooklyn, for now keep this safe" he said while giving the gemsstone into Brooklyn´s hand. "I don´t like this feeling.. something is amiss.." he muttered as he started to walk to the gates from where all of them came throught.

(And... here comes the sh#$storm!)

However, as soon as the group moved crossing the gate, a big group of people were waiting for them. Their insignias in their armor and shield were easily recognizable for Reiner, Arcelia and the rest of their team; Dormus Army. The only thing dividing them all was the hanging bridge over the rift. 60, 70, almost 100 soldiers were along the group, then one of then, tall, on white hair, around his forties came across them, with sword in hand. "Well well, it seems you managed to get the gemstone. King Ephidel will be satisfied with it" he said while making a strange grin.. a strange and mischievous grin.

"General Dephos. I thought you were in the capitol. What brings you here?" Reiner asked, trying to keep his cold, but sooner than expected he couldn´t stand it anymore, not when a tied and injured Braid was brought at Dephos´s side. "I bring important news from the capitol, I am now in charge of taking Gules back there, also we were "having some fun" with this band of mercenaries. I think you know him... right? hehhehe"

"You little piece of sh- arrght..." Braid said but it was kicked in the back by Dephos. "Such arrogance... are they your fellow mercenaries, right? well I brought you here, as I told you I would.. but now.. you have no more purpose for me." Dephos said as he, with a sole swing of his blade took away Braid´s life. "There... much better, hehehehe..."

"How dare you Dephos! I command you to stop it!" Reiner shouted angered as he saw Brais´s body falling lifeless into the snowy floor. "Now now... I have the big group here, besides, we are out of Dormus lands. YOu have no power over me, and none of these men follow your orders. Now .. give me the gemstone.. or else, heheheheh"

"Damn you..... " Reiner said frustrated as the tech knights below started to point to the rest of Reiner´s group. "Brooklyn!, what we should do now?" he said as he was running out of options.

[Choices: Sometimes, a character will take a choice that will decide how the events will move out. Usually the choice taken could save a friend or doom him/her. The choice cannot be changed and the consecuences of it shall be asumed. Of course it would not meant Game Over for this RP, but it could save us a few enemies or making things hard. On this case, Brooklyn will be the first to take the choice. All of you will take one choice as the RP moves... so choose wisely]

"Derik! There will be time for fighting and mocking later! If you aren't going to be helpful, go play with some Risen." Ryonne snapped at Derik, clearly rather upset at the guard's actions and words. Rija also shook her head, almost in shame, or perhaps embarrassment that she had to be associated with him. Ryonne looked back to Reiner and Brooklyn. He was beginning to dislike this situation. Reiner had not been aware that they were wanted in Regna Ferox, but despite that, the orange haired boy, Carrot Top was currently the only name he had for him, wanted to continue on with them anyway. And their numbers were rather large. The guard captain nodded towards Brooklyn. "Thank you tactician, I also agree." He had seen the way Carrit Top had acted on the battlefield, in a way befitting only a master of tactics.

Brooklyn looked over to the female Knight. "Good to see we are in agreement. I assume we will work together from here on in, at least until we see the Feroxi capital. My given name is Brooklyn, it is a pleasure." Derik flipped a middle finger to the Knight. He was never known for his manners, he was only known for his not-so-serious attitude and his skill. But in an instant, he turned to the bridge. "I don't know why, but... Telling us to get to Guels. I didn't think about it before we got here, it's strange though. Why were we sent to check on something like this stone if there wasn't some sort of... reason. Maybe the Khan is seeing something we don't..."

(Now decide, Brooklyn)
"...when faced with this dilemma, I can only say that of all the actions I predicted, this was not one."Derik looked at Brooklyn, his cheery nonsensical demeanor shown in his eyes had vanished. "You do know what these stones represent, right?""...Yeah. the Fire Emblem's true form. I keep making these mistakes, we were tasked to come here... But I keep forgetting to look at the facts. Like you said, the last time these stones saw day was years ago... why are we unearthing them now?! ...There is more to this than we realized, than I realized." Brooklyn's breath ran hot. The adrenaline in his blood choked his thoughts, but he was able to see one thing. "If... if we give you this stone, we die. We don't, we die, but at least we have a shot.. Do you think we're fools?! I won't just give this, something that has a lot of power and danger to you! Before, I just wanted to go home, but I see this... this is what I'm meant to be here for. If you want this stone..." he held the gemstone in his hand. "You're gonna have to gut me for it!" Swallowed it. With his feet sliding into a stance which would better serve him in combat, he called to all units. "Everyone, we have no choice! Let's go!"In the back of his mind, Brooklyn knew the truth, though. A trick of sight. The snow would help better conceal his trickery, even to the keen-eyed Myrmidon's: he pretended to swallow it, however he actually let it roll down the back of his clothes and onto the floor, which he had covered with snow from his foot shifting. "Even if... even if we lose, they won't have this thing. The Tactician of old, Robin, would never have let this happen, but I won't let my failures give people who could do something awful the chance to do it unhindered. Even if he fell then, he would force himself to live long enough that only he would find it for sure, and then when the battle was over and he was helped back up, if they won, he could recover it..."...Dude, you just ate a rock." Derik pointed out."I know, and it didn't go down easy. Would have liked some milk with it, if I'm frank.""...I like you. Although eating Guels is basically the dumbest move you could make, it was also probably the smartest.""Shut up and get ready for battle!""Fine by me."

Answer: NO

"There you have your answer, Dephos!" Reiner shouted once again, now preparing his spear to charge against them. However the only expression into Dephos face was of satisfaction. "Hehehehehe hahahahahha! So be it, just so you know one more thing before you die... this was all planed by your own father! To destroy both prince and princess.. obviously the Risen should have take you down.. oh well.. hhehehehehe"

Reiner´s face became palid... the simple thought of his father trying to kill Arcelia and him... no it couldn´t be.. but the mission was given by him.. and the Risen... then..

"Time for chat its done! Now! Destroy the gates!! Crush them down!!" Dephos said as from the rear of the army group two cannons were pointing at the gate. Suddenly the noise of the blast was the alert from the incoming impact.. there was not time to react... no time to move.. as the two blast stroke down over the top floor of the gate, it began to crumble. Reiner tried to move.. only realizing a second later, as he was close enough to the rift, the blast caused the floor where he was stood with his horse to fell apart. There was nothing he could do to save himself... game over.

An echo of someone yelling and falling, the end of Reiner, prince of House Dormus, as the ceiling above the rest of the team began to fall. "Nooo!!" Wolt shouted as he tried to reach closer. It was a chaos, more blast were coming trying to take down the gate. They needed to get out of there now.

(And... Now Yuffie "Ryonne" will take us out)

(As for the rest... literally it´s running time. You can post your escape from the gate to outside the temple.)

(As for the rest... literally it´s running time. You can post your escape.)

Brooklyn grimaced as Reiner died. "Damn you all to hell!" He cried out, the gate starting to come down, he feigned losing his balance in order to collect Guels without notice, and he stored it in  a hidden compartment in his jacket's leather padding. "I promise you, I won't let you get away with this, you damn clown!" Brooklyn yelled, standing again. "I won'

t let you or the man you call a "King" get away with it either!" He yelled, firing off a few shots of Fire from his tome, however this time he did lose his balance for real, pushing him back where Ryonne stood.

As Reiner fell, Derik looked away. "Damn... Yo Red-and-Ready, you got a plan for this crap?!"

"Not the time for nick-names! And no, I sure as hell don't have a plan for this of all things!" Brooklyn yelled.

"So, uh, Ryonne, got a idea? Other than have Rija try and tank a building? Because I don't think that's gonna work in this situation!" Derik yelled. If the enemy didn't have such an advantage over them, he wouldn't even consider it twice and had just rushed over and fought them as hard as he could so the others could escape, but there was no fighting cannons...

Lenord gulped as he began to run away with the others out of the gate. He didn't want to end up getting killed by Dephos, as he seemed crazy. He gritted his teeth as he kept running with the others. He didn't even look back at all. He needed to get away with the others and fast.

Ryonne caught Brooklyn as he fell and set him back on his feet. He was working to figure out what the situation was and what to do next. Reiner had just died in the collapse of the gate, and they would all follow soon after if he did not figure something out quick. While Ryonne's mind was racing, Rija glanced towards Derik, looking not only distraught but frustrated. "The hell are you talking about? Focus a bit more on actually getting being helpful maybe instead of being so ridiculous!" She yelled at him. Rija was feeling an abnormal amount of feelings, amplified through the pure anxiety of the situation.

"Would you all shut up! Bickering is not going to help save all of our lives." Ryonne yelled very loudly, calling everyone's attention to him. He had remembered something that could be used in a state of emergency such as this. "Follow me, we're going back to the temple! Come quick, and if you choose to die, don't expect us to carry you back." He called to the group as a whole. He made a gesture to follow him, and rushed back towards where they had come. Once he made it into the temple, the guard captain made sure everyone got inside, pulling them in if he had to, then slammed the door shut, locking the door. "Derik, Rija, take the rear and cover up the escape before you come on through." Ryonne ordered. Meanwhile, Ryonne walked over towards the altar where Gules normally was placed. Over towards the side was a large painting of the Great Khans Basilio and Flavia, as well as the other two Feroxi Warriors that had assisted in the war of old, Olivia the Graceful and Lon'Qu the Quick. Ryonne grabbed the painting, and pulled it off the wall. Behind it was a decently sized tunnel, lined with torches. The Feroxi guard looked to the group of mercenaries. "This will lead us to the capital. Continue to follow me. Or don't, and die alone here." Ryonne said to them. He was great at pep talks. He began to walk into the tunnel. Once everybody who had followed who would, Rija and Derik brought up the rear, Rija having followed the orders given to them and placed the painting back into the spot it had been. The group was on their way to the Feroxi capital, even though Reiner, Prince of Dormus had fallen.

The mood was somber. Only the drips of cave water onto the tunnel floor from icicles which looked as though they would crack and fall apart if just about anything stronger than a baby's mid-nap's breath pushed on them for an instant. Brooklyn had been one of the first to leave, his head hung like that of a man on the gallows, only moments before his falling. Derik sat towards the end, Rija being behind him and keeping up the rear. His eyes showed something in them he hadn't experienced before: mortal terror. He was always strong enough to face the challenge ahead of him, there he could do nothing, and someone died. It was an odd sense of hopelessness that mixed in.As they walked, and walked... Derik's anger only grew. "Why can't I be strong enough to destroy them? Fast enough to dodge cannons and arrows, strog enough to cleave through the mortar shells... My own weakness... it killed a man. If I were stonger... If..." Meanwhile, Brooklyn had slowly ended up towards the middle of the line, his own thoughts consuming him."Why did it have to be Reiner? Or anybody?! Why didn't... why couldn't... I had no plan, no ideas, no strategy... I can't believe I was outplayed by brute force alone..." he coughed, now for the first time feeling the cold. "Worse off... Wolt took a bad hit that fight... and Reiner..."

Catrain had been silent during the encounter with the Dormus Army. She could tell that the group was outmatched, and began to panic. The death of Prince Reiner and the collapse of the building didn't help her much. She managed to fly off on Penna and escape with the others, though she had to fight the urge to stay and defeat the twisted soldiers they'd encountered earlier. While traveling through the tunnel, she walked alongside Penna. While the group walked through the tunnel, she noticed that Brooklyn seemed upset about what had just happened. Of course, everyone was, but she had a feeling that he'd be one of the people affected the most due to his position in the group. She walked over to him, not wanting to see her most recent battle partner so upset. "Hey... none of us knew what would happen. I don't blame you for what happened there, and I doubt anyone else here does, either. We'll need to fight to keep his dream alive, right?"

Arcelia screamed. She screamed for her lost brother, a cry that the way to pure rage.

She stood there amongst cannon fire, and looked at Dephos.

"AN EYE FOR AN EYE, GENERAL!" She screamed. "AN EYE FOR AN EYE!"

And she turned to run. This rapier would do nothing here. She needed something else.

Arcelia needed to survive. For Reiner. For Dormus...the true Dormus. Not this shambled monstrosity that called itself a Kingdom.

And of course, as soon as the battle ended they were engaged by an army, and a general who betrayed them, not only by killing Braid, but demanding the stone AND taking Reiner's life during the ensuing cannonfire, Alexander knew they had literally no chance at this rate, he was glad Ryonne knew what he was doing, and led them to an exit within the temple, Alexander was the last to enter, following them at the back through the tunnel, his sword drawn in case some of them came through, hopefully, they didn't, and he resumed to his normal standing sheathing his sword as he walked along.

"I agree with Catrain, there was no way any of us would have known this would happen, don't beat yourself over it...it wasn't anyone's fault." Alexander said along with Catrain, trying to at least give some comfort to Brooklyn, "What we should be thinking right now is, what the hell do we do now? seek allies? strike on our own?" he asked.

-Evelyn Boon-

Evelyn remained silent and to the sidelines as the confrontation with Dephos ensued, allowing Reiner and the others to deal with it, as she was very out of her depth in situations like this.

Unfortunately, her time to act came sooner and in a much more tragic sense than she could have ever anticipated. After Brooklyn defied General Dephos by apparently swallowing the Gemstone, everything escalated quickly into chaos as cannonballs were fired and Reiner was killed, murdered by a Scumbag of a General. Normally, she'd be mildly angry and saddened by the death of another, but his status as a Prince and the Brother of Arcelia, who she had grown to like, sparked actual rage within the Mage. Before the situation grew too dangerous, she shouted to Dephos: "YOU! WILL NOT SEE THE END OF THE DAY WE MEET NEXT! YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD!!" She then turned and ran with everyone else as the building collapsed.

Following the others into a Tunnel, Evelyn had a question on her mind. "So...who is in command now? I want to know who's pointing us in the right direction after...that....." She said, her mind going back to what happened, along with Arcelia and how much misery as well as rage she must be feeling.

(I may be making a villain for this RP, if you don't mind me doing so, Daniel.)

Lenord looked at the others, breathing deeply, still following them. He was shocked by what had happened. After they had just retrieved Gules, they lost a comrade, to him felt like it hit him and the others like a rock. He could tell that it'll take more than words to change things. "Guys... I think we got away from him... But... Oh man..." Said Lenord, talking to everyone.

Brooklyn kept very silent. Very, very silent. "...If I... If I had just... Thought about this... Even if for more than a moment, it would have all been made clear... If I were better maybe this wouldn't have happened..." He coughed. "I made a gamble that they would fight us man to man. I figured we would be having to struggle, but we could win... Maybe... Maybe if I..." His grip closed so tightly that the bones in his hands made a soft popping noise.

"Engagement was invevitable, they had cannons, we wouldn't be able to hold them off no matter what...no one saw Reiner's death coming, this isn't anybody's fault but the general." he tried to give Brooklyn some consolation, but the tactician was still sad, "Maybe if you what? gave him the crystal? made a deal? there was no way around what just happened, what is done is done..." he said as he frowned, he knew loss very well, he knew many mercenary friends who perished in front of him during jobs and whatnot, so he knew how a loss could affect a person.

"You're our tactician, we rely on you, if you mope around and whine about what just happened, it'l affect us all, we can't have you like this, or else then we will really not have a chance at all". Alexander said honestly to Brooklyn.

Lenord looked at Brooklyn, and approached him, looking at him with a stern look. He clenched a fist as he thought about what happened. He really didn't like to see anyone sad. He looked on at Brooklyn, trying to think of something to say. "Brooklyn... You did the right thing, no one would have known what was going to happen, we need to do out mission, and we may need to face battles head on someday, and we need to keep us all alive, I know it's tough, but... Reiner wouldn't want us to be in despair..." Said Lenord, talking to Brooklyn.

Lenord looked at Brooklyn, and approached him, looking at him with a stern look. He clenched a fist as he thought about what happened. He really didn't like to see anyone sad. He looked on at Brooklyn, trying to think of something to say. "Brooklyn... What they were saying wasn't helping. If anything it just frustrated him more and more. "That doesn't matter! It's just not good enough!" He slammed his fist into the wall, Derik flinched back in surprise, looking to the top of the cave, the icicles had luckily not been disturbed, but that didn't change his worry. "A man I promised wouldn't die did die. I didn't keep my word. I failed as a Tactician today. Tomorrow is another day, but now... I just need time to think..."

"Oi, Carrot Top. For such brightly-colored follicles, you sure are emo as hell." Derik remarked.

"What the hell ever."

"By Naga he's a handful, ain't he. Always the dramatic I assume?"

"Shut up!"

"Listen, if none of this is getting through your thick skull, then maybe my voice will. They were set with cannons. They were going to kill us all, even at the cost of potentially failing the mission. There was no tell or reason to expect that a country would send it's army against it's own army, it's ludicrous. So wise up, these people, no matter how long they have known your emo face, are trying to keep you from losing it over one defeat. We're warrior's, so was he, we all knew the odds we could die, but we're here anyway. We're here. We know the chances, we know the cost. So did that man. And don't fret over hid death, he went out fighting. Crying over him is a disgrace to what he stood for, unless it was so weak as to die with him."

Brooklyn stood silent. "You sound like Master Gegias, ever meet the man?"

"No, but I assume he tried to teach you the same lesson."

"...I'm sorry. To all of you. Until we make it back to Ferox, I will serve as the leader. From then forth I don't know, I won't let myself be riled like this again.."

Faaron was out of breath. He had ran full sprint, terrified of death. He followed the others and stayed in the middle of them. As the running seemed to have calmed down he soon was visible trembling. He had never killed a living being, nor had he seen someone die. When he saw Braid be killed all he knew seemed to crumble. It could also have been the crumbling building. He didnt know. But Faaron was truely scared.

Armad seemed adgitated, but at the same time his eyes were tearing up. "They killed him...." He muttered to himself as he followed behind the group. He had lost one of the royals he so dearly protected... He felt as if a part of him had died and only few in the army knew what was making him act as he was.

"Good to know you have your shit together. I was getting worried." Ryonne commented on Brooklyn's last words from the front. He had pulled a torch off the wall and was carrying it in his off-hand in case they came to places where the torches had gone out. "In Regna Ferox, a death like Reiner's, standing for his beliefs with a lance in his hands, is the only end for any warrior. He will be honored by Naga  or whoever governs wherever his soul rests. In the meantime, we need to focus on us surviving." Ryonne said with a tone of finality, as if that was all he had to say on the matter. No one would ever say he was not decisive. Ryonne always kept his mind focused on the bigger picture. Do all that I can, and that I cannot, oh well. Become stronger so next time, I can. A healthy diet of Feroxi wisdom will give blessings like that philsophy.

Rija tapped Derik on the shoulder to get his attention. She began to speak, but her words got caught in her throat. The soldier was clearly still distraught over the things that had just happened. But her face was not red, and her eyes not puffy. Crying was not a soldier's way of solving problems. She took a deep breath and started anew.

"I just wanted to say that what you just said... Those words were very nice. Inspiring one might say, were it not for their dark nature. I think I misjudged you, and I'm sorry for that." She said, her tone clear but clearly still wracked with emotion. Even though she was a knight of Nazzir... Reiner's had been the first death of a comrade she had seen with her own eyes. And betrayed by his own nation... That made it all the worse.

Maggie stayed silent as the group continued through the tunnel. She was disturbed by Reiner's death, although it wasn't the first time she had seen someone die. He seemed like a good person, and would have made an amazing leader, both for them and his country. She had other things on her mind too, though. Royal families getting power hungry, turning on each other, gathering their strongest weapons... It sounded like the makings of a war to her. She didn't know how far this would spread, but Matthew was old enough that if Chon'sin got desperate, he might be forced into the army. Her city was not very far inland, if Dormus decided on an invasion her entire family would be at risk. She frowned in frustration. There was really nothing she could do at this point beside figure out what was going on at Regna Ferox.
