Nowadays they focus on quality for new games. As examples we have bloodborne, smash bros, sunset overdrive, infamous second son, forza motorsport... and looking at the future games line-up it looks promising. So you shouldn't complain about anything because thia generation is just shaping up to be the most memorable of them all.

at least PS2 remasters were somewhat nice to have because they looked noticeably better on later gen consoles. I have a hard time seeing the difference between a PS3 game and a PS3 game remastered for PS4 at a casual glance. I mean for these PS3 and XBox remasters they could at least add more content to these releases so we have more incentive to buy them instead of prettier graphics. Of course that would require some effort and that just defeats the purpose of releasing a remaster anyways.

three years into their life, the PS3 and 360 had launched many insanely popular franchises, and the PS2 era was even more prolific

this generation is the generation of promises

people care more about the hype of a reveal than if the end result is worth your time

Just for the rest of this year alone I got MGSV, Tales of Zestiria, Uncharted collection, FFVII PS4 port, DQ Heroes. Plus I still gotta pick up FFX on PS4 which I'll probably do next month.

at this point last gen, we got Batman Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed and Uncharted 2, Dragon Age Origins, Minecraft, Left 4 Dead 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Brutal Legend, inFAMOUS, Bayonetta, Demon's Souls, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, some SMT game, Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, Punch Out, and Borderlands

MGSV is a highly anticipated game abandoned or not. Tales of Zestiria is releasing for it's first time in NA in October so it's not like it's just a port of an old game. It counts as multi-gen. And besides. who cares who abandoned a game or whether it's a port or not? We should be thinking far more about whether we'll enjoy the game or not.

At this point last gen, most of those games you listed weren't even out. The new consoles are going to be 2 years-old in 4 more months, don't lose your patience, yet.

 

Now games take more time since most studios try to focus on graphics nowadays, which is sometimes nice, but not really necessary for the enjoyment of a game. So let's just wait it out 2 more years to see if we get another year like those, though I still believe that 2007 and 2009 have been the best years for games, yet. 

 

We'll see eventually if another wonder year for gaming is on the way. If Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III were to release on the same year, I think that would be it.

Me and my brother keep getting into arguments over which console we should each get, and every time we can only ever name two games for PS4 or Xbox One.

 

That said, we're specifically not counting multi plat games. If you're looking for a system that can play a lot of games that aren't console exclusive and have lots of definite games coming out soon, either one is a good choice. And if you really want a game with tons of good exclusives, the Wii U exists, though for some reason everyone thinks Nintendo is going to drop it next year despite them never doing that with any console they've ever made.
