Not exactly.  I didn't really think that the original Tron had anything to do with Kingdom Hearts.  However it's appearance in KHII didn't really surprise me since I knew Tron Legacy was going to be in DDD.

Was anything a surprise for you?

I wouldn't say shocked, but probably Tron just because I've never met another person in real life who's ever seen it. It always struck me as a movie only old sci-fi nerds have ever seen, and it was a pleasant surprise to see it show up in KH2 alongside all the more popular movies (especially given how well it was done).

Also, not really a movie, but Timeless River is pretty surprising, just for how they managed to make a playable world out of those old cartoons.

Never expected a world based off pirates of the Caribbean since it was live action. But i guess popularity goes a long way so all of those people who want a frozen world should end up very happy.

I was definitely shocked when I saw Port Royal in Kingdom Hearts II when I played it for the first time back in 2006!  Granted, it was my first KH game, but still, the thought that Jack Sparrow was in Kingdom Hearts II made me very happy! X3  I was also shocked when La Cite Des Cloches was included in Dream Drop Distance! I love The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, it's probably one of my favorite Disney films!  I was so happy being able to interact with Quasimodo, Phoebus, and Esmerelda! :3

AND, MOST SHOCKED AND HAPPY OF ALL, IS WHEN TANGLED WAS CONFIRMED TO APPEAR IN KINGDOM HEARTS III!!!! AT LAST, AT LAST, AT LAST, RAPUNZEL SHALL APPEAR IN THE KINGDOM HEARTS SERIES!!! :')

Pirates was probably my biggest surprise. Out of all the properties, I did not expect the Pirates movies to come into the series. I didn't get into Tron until just before Tron: Legacy came out, so that wasn't really a surprise so much as a new experience.

Oh, there've been plenty of worlds to surprise me! First off from KH2 were probably Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron, and Timeless River (although that was a cartoon but still). Lion King in KH2 Surprised me with the fact that you can play as an actual lion rather than the fact that it was in the game. In Dream Drop Distance, La Cite de Los Cloches and Symphony, Three Musketeers, and Symphony of Sorcery were also quite surprising, but they were all brilliant ideas! I mean, besides the fact that on Pirates of the Caribbean Sora, Donald and Goofy stand out way too much, but with the Kingdom Shader now in place in KH3 that should be fixed :P.

I failed as a child, and listen to what people around me were watching and what they showed on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel and Toon Disney, and so I never watched a lot of Disney classics that made it into KH, like Hercules and Notre Dame, but that isn't what surprised me, what really surprised me was the classic movie Tron being in KH2! I had no idea Tron even existed when I first played KH2, so imagine my surprise when I am teleported into a computer system! And then after I played that world, I found the actual movie at my library and watched it. This of course led into me becoming a fan of Tron Legacy, and led to me loving that series! So it's a bit funny how I would probably not have seen Tron Legacy or Tron if it weren't for KH2!

I was really surprised to see the Nightmare Before Christmas in the first KH game because I was young and had no idea it was a Disney movie but it was a pleasant surprise

I'd have to say The Country of Musketeers was a pleasant surprise for me since it was based off of a direct-to-video film. I mean, of course it's not the first time a direct-to-video story has been used, what with Agrabah's story in KH2 based on the direct-to-video the Return of Jafar, but to see a whole world AND the main characters in a time before they knew Sora made it ever so fun and new. I'd maybe even say Chicken Little even though he was just a summon, it was probably the most surprising character to see in the game.

Pretty sure I did a topic like this myself

I was surprised at how they executed Fantasia for Kingdom Hearts 3D. For a movie based on a bunch of different animated segments to orchestra, I believe it was handled with a lot of respect and integrity (even Young Xehanort did not want to fight in Fantasia)!
