World of Grandia: Ingens Locus Series (Sign-Ups and Discussion)

So after a long and extensive brainstorming session, I decided to make another open-world adventure RP! Hope this fancy's everyone's taste.

 

P.S. - I am also trying to make a Byond game based off of this RP.. So if there's anyone who can help with iconning, it'd be much appreciated :D

 

Story

------------------------------------

Here, in this grand and distant world from earth, both humans and mythical creatures live in harmony and constant competition in order to prove which race is the most superior to them all.

 

Every 5 years, the worldwide government of Grandia hosts a planet-wide tournament to see who would emerge as "Endymion," or the king of the best, fighters in the realm.

 

Fighters would embark on a long 2-year journey in order to defeat the strongest fighters and win the tournament.

 

(Expect many plot-twists and surprises!)

 

How it works

------------------------------------

- Each registered person is given a magic crystal that is worth ten points

 

- The overall goal is to take as many crystals as you can by defeating your opponent.

 

- There are "Valor Bosses" around the world and if you defeat one, you will gain a Valor crystal. These are crystals that are worth 50 points and can be divided among people (if one is in a group).

 

- The tournament is planet-wide. This means that the whole planet is a battleground for registered fighters.

- Keep it PG-13 please!

 

- You can't player kill unless the owner of the character permits you to.

 

- To keep everyone up to speed, I would ask you all to limit your posts to at least 3 times after my post.

 

- Put Grandia at the end of your sign up sheet to show that you have read the rules.

Personality: Kind, an intellectual quick-thinker, traits of a leader

 

Bio: Born and raised in a martial arts temple, Nero has been training in fighting all his life. His ability allowed him to grow tremendously to the point of where his own masters could not teach him anymore because of his skill.. and other reasons... He decided to enter into this year's Ingens Locus in order to get stronger by facing strong opponents.

 

Ability: Advanced Evolution: Nero has the ability to adapt and upgrade his physique and mental abilities at an astounding faster rate.

 

Weapon: He is very fluent in the dual sword style and halberd, though he tends not to use them in battle. He rather uses the martial arts style that was taught to him.

 

5 Animal Arts - The martial arts style taught to him. It incorporates the science and observation of the tiger, crane, leopard, snake, and monkey.

Can I have an ability be pretty much a bunch of magic spells available to a character? like this ability allows use of several (rather complementary instead of useful) spells.

Hm.. Can you start with one spell for now and buy/find the other magic books/spells you wanted to add to your character?

 

You can make as many as you want!

I can, but since im making a character based (Witcher from the witcher games lore), he'l be utterly worthless other than his swordsmanship skills which have no equal, and the signs are used for situations, like igni for fire, aard for concussive blasts for crowd control, quen being a shield. eh, i'l manage with one, but i'l need to get the others fast, possibly have him rediscover them as the story goes. (By meditation and reasearch through witcher study books)

Looks like a certain Dr.is coming out to play again, heh heh.I'll be joining on the morrow. Been itching to use Dr. Vay Lea again. His Katana and shadow shall rise again.

Personality: Quiet and introverted, the girl known as Testament barely shows emotion. All she cares for, is finding her memories.

Bio:

An amnesiac girl who lives in a house overlooking a lake, Testament only knew a sine word when she awoke one day - Testament. She knew nothing more and could barely speak.

That was three years ago. Today, after time learning to fight, she joined the Ingens Locus in hopes the journey could help her reclaim her lost memories.

Ability: Nightblade - Testament coats her deadly scythe with dark energy, making every attack more deadly, more painful, and less likely for someone to want to continue fighting.

Weapon: Scythe

Extra: Not good with people. Very blunt.

Age: while he looks like he's on his thirties, he is over 70 years old, least from what he can remember.

Medium armor, good protection against slashing, bludgeoning, magic and monster attacks.

 

Personallity: Sarcastic, blunt, honest, loyal to his friends, he is the first to criticize one's mistakes, but stops should the person be offended or angry at him for doing it, he thinks quickly, always a pragmatic, he will exploit any and all weaknesses his enemy has.

 

Bio: A mutant of sorts, a human man who went through several experiments which altered his very genes and mutated his body so that its different from a human man's, he wandered the land, taking contracts, slaying harmful monsters here and there, doing protection jobs and the like, he recently lost his memory due to a mage's spell, an accident, and as such forgot most of his story and experience in battle, he joined the ingen locus, as he sees the best way to regain his memory, and gain some money on top of it, would be to fight worthy opponents.

 

He will not stand for cruelty and if he sees others attacking innocents without reason, he will interfere, and ask for a reward from the civilians afterwards.

 

He is an extremely good swordsman as well as an alchemist, able to make extremely toxic potions from alchemical ingredients, and use them to amplify his abilities, as his body is tougher than a normal human, it can handle the toxicity.

 

Ability: Quen: one of the many "signs" his sect uses, it is the only one he remembers for now.

It projects a shield of pure magical energy around him, wheter he simply casts it or maintains it manually.

It will block any and all attacks, up to a certain threshold, which it will explode with a small shockwave, it can block most attacks without breaking, should he choose to maintain the shield manually, it will last longer, and be much stronger than normal, but the longer he holds it, the more his stamina will drain.

 

he has amnesia and as such he cannot remember the other signs.

 

Weapon: he has two large swords on his back sheaths at all times, one made of steel, for humans and non magical beings, and the other one silver for magical beings such as monsters and ghosts, and in some cases, mages infused with magic.

He also has a small crossbow on his back that he uses to fight opponents at range should he need to.

 

He is extremely skilled and talented in using all manners of weapons, but specially the swords, since he remembers all the techniques of swordsmanship, even though he has amnesia, he is a force to be reckoned with when being faced in a sword fight.

 

Extra:

Witcher physiology: Having passed through several tests and mutations, his body was no longer the same as a normal human's, extended lifespan, increased strenght, reflexes, agility and stamina are all parts of the changes his body took, his eyes are yellow like that of a cat's, his body can take extremely high doses of toxicity, and arguably sustain heavy poisons and bleeding as well, since his regeneration is increased as well.

 

His senses are extremely sensitive, he has heighted sense of smell, hearing and eyesight, he can detect an enemy from yards away, simply by hearing and awareness.

Age: Looks to be about 20-ish.

Appearance: (You'll get a picture soon, but...)  Tall, black hair, green eyes, fair skin. Wears a long black cloak normally, however when he fights, he throws it off, and reveals his clothes, a black shirt, with black pants. 

Personality: The only thing he cares for is whatever his current goal is. He lets nothing get in the way of it, and will not hesitate to do anything to complete it. He prefers to be by himself, but will not hesitate to join - and betray - a group, should it benefit his needs. 

Bio: (Before I write anything... what kind of mythical creatures are there, and would there be any that would be able to have possessed the good Dr. in his past?)

Ability: He can control his shadow, being able to turn it into anything he likes, so long as it isn't too big. The bigger it is, and/or the longer he uses it, the greater the strain placed on him. If he is strained too far, he is very likely to collapse, so he prefers to end fights quickly. And if he isn't careful, and pushes past his near-collapse state, it could very easily kill him. (Note: A. Is this ability okay? B. Instead of him gaining more powers, could it be possible for him to slowly gain the power to control more and more shadows, and lessen the overall strain as he does so?)

Weapon: A masamune, magically bound to him in such a way that he can not lose it.

Extra: Carries a broken, jammed open pocket watch, and a book entitled HEARTLESS. Yes, in all caps. He never lets the pocket watch, nor the book, leave his sight if he can help it.

Any and all types of magical creatures exist in Grandia each with their own set abilities. It is possible to control and possess one depending on the willpower/spirit of the person. That being said, there are creatures that can take possession of a character as well. So to answer your question, yes!

 

A. The ability is fine. I like the idea.

B. That is fine as well. I was planning to apply the same concept to my own character.

Personality: Ren is actually rather frightened by her powers and is rather quiet and isolated. She is a very smart and determined girl who is curious, yet cautious about her surroundings. Ren is also very strong, physically (or so she likes to say so) and mentally.
Biography: As a little girl, Ren was possessed. It was called a "Kitsunetsuki", when a fox spirit enters somebodies body and causes trouble for this person. The fox spirit lived inside of Ren for about three years...it made her blind in her left eye, and she was unable to read. She gained heightened senses and abilities from the spirit however. At the age of 10, Ren had the fox spirit exorcised out of her body. It was a painful experience, and Ren got very sick afterwards. Ren lived in solitude with her parents, accepting what the curse of the fox did to her. Before she died of her sickness, her mother gave her a silver cross necklace with a ruby in the middle. Soon after, Ren died at the age of 16, but two years later she came back as a spirit. The fox spirit that was once exorcised from her appeared before spirit Ren, and promised her a shot at life once more if Ren could accept the fox. Ren did so, and the fox materialized into her necklace. From this re-possession, Ren became a fox demon, living again with new power.
Ability: Can transform into a large, black, silver-eyed fox. The fox has incredible strength, speed, agility, and power.
Weapon: Well I guess you could she's her own weapon, but she is skilled with a sword (she trained herself that spiffy Ren)
Extra:

Personality: (Optional) A complete jerk. He acts superior to others, often either showing off/boasting or mocking and insulting others. Fortunately, he at least has the grace and intelligence to not be blunt about it. Well, not as blunt as he could be. Instead he prefers to use artistry is his conversation, wordplay, imagery, metaphors. The fangs of a snake hidden in the beauty of a poet's pen. When he isn't preening himself or jabbing at others, he likes to keep himself well-rounded. He loves literature, the sciences, art, and of course, fencing.

Bio: A noble's son turned adventurer. He grew up spoiled. Anything he wanted, at the tips of his fingers. That grew boring quick. He tried to keep himself occupied with whatever he could. The rising field of science, painting, writing, reading, philosophy. Not much held his attention for very long. He learned it, loved it, moved on. The only one that was not a passing thing was his swordplay. After learning all the basics, several dozen advanced techniques taught by several different schools, and whipping the castle guard into shape, he found that he wasn't bored. This was something he could actually get better at, and only through pure practice. So as he continued his quest for the purpose of his life, he kept up his swordplay. Love, politics, neither suited him quite right. Of course, they were fun, playing with the hearts of women and the minds of men, but not quite his thing. Perhaps in another life. But for now, he had done everything he could from the secluded safety of his home. So, he left. He promised he'd be back one day, and left. He wandered for several years, dipping his toes in many things, as a soldier, a farmer, a blacksmith, a fisherman, more common things than he had access to at home. Still, nothing. In any case, he had many more chances to try his swordplay in real fights. And his skills did not fail him. What he did find one day however, was something that would change his life forever. In his travels, he encountered a small stone. Oh, but it was no normal stone. Upon holding it, Vortludo unlocked what he believes to be the true potential of a human being. He continued on with this new power to find more information on it's power and origins. Supposedly, humans were once the most powerful beings on the planet. Akin to gods. But when they abused this power, a single one, a sorcerer more powerful than any else, locked away the power of humans in seven stones, and scattered them about the world, with no clue as to their location. Vortludo had found his purpose. To restore all of humanity to greatness. He did not know how to at the moment, but he decided to start with finding the seven stones. When the Ingens Locus came, Vortludo decided that the tournament was the best lead he had.

Ability: One of the seven locked away skills of true humanity, unlocked in Vortuludo by the stone he found. It grants him sight and limited control over "aura", energy that is in all things, locked away. He can form it into objects, or channel it into him as a buff'

Weapon: A one handed duelist's saber. He is an expert with it, unmatched by most anyone.
