Sora96 17,256 Posted July 20, 2015 FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is version 2.0 of FINAL FANTASY XIV, a complete rebuild of the original game which was helmed by the top FINAL FANTASY XI staff left at the company. The man chosen to succeed Hiromichi Tanaka as head of Square Enix's Online Department and producer of FINAL FANTASY XIV was Naoki Yoshida known from past DRAGON QUEST titles including their very own MMO, DRAGON QUEST X. Naoki Yoshida as producer & director of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn led top talent from titles like FINAL FANTASY XII and The Last Remnant including Hiroshi Minagawa and Hiroshi Takai. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this title. This title has been very successful and has close to 5 million registered players not including those from free trials. The art direction is of course stunning and graphically the game is quite good in the most part and looks really good for a PlayStation 3 game. But of course like a lot of MMOs you're left sitting through scrolls and scrolls of texts and go around the massive world of Eorzea doing the usual MMO style quiets, most commonly defeat 5 or so monsters for a quest item. There's a main scenario in there and I've heard good things about it but it's of course deep into all these other quests that will distract, bore and confuse you. You'll probably get lost. There is little voice acting, which is understandable but what voice acting is there is pretty good. But just don't go expecting the top voice actors around like Ali Hillis, Troy Baker, Nolan North etc. The character you control doesn't speak by the way. Music wise it's pretty good but I wouldn't say its amongst the best in the series with the exception of a couple of songs. The Visual Works CGI is as always the best in the industry. Running is so awkward, and the UI is so cluttered, there's so much on the screen. Sound effects are pretty good though. Combat is nothing ground-breaking but it works well in the most part. I had a little trouble locking on at times though. It's hard to review this. This is an amazing success story by Square Enix and I hope to see this MMO become the biggest in the world but honestly I used to play an MMORPG called Adventure Quest Worlds additively and I can't nor want to do that again. I don't have the time to devote to a MMORPG when I have so many other games, and honestly more entertaining than this to me to play. Also I'd have to pay monthly, which while is worth it with the amount of content you get I don't want keep paying money for a game. FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn and its recently released expansion pack, Heavensward are now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC & Mac. This is an amazing MMO, but I'm no position to keep up with an MMO. 8/10 3 Klimparer, Imoore4 and WakelessDream reacted to this

KH4Real 749 Posted July 20, 2015 Yeh when I played on trial I had problems too with locking but I was used to it. I'm waiting to get this when I'll get a PS4 next year.
