Roxas

everyone else has incredibly awkward combos and damage ratios

Unfortunately this. Multiple characters are a novel idea, but in practice each character was only good in very specific missions and are close to useless on their own.

(That said, Goofy is firetrucking rad when his moves actually hit.)

Lexeaus can crush bosses with his normal aerial attack, but he has to actually land a hit

Yeah, that whole having to actually connect with strikes thing kind of firetrucks up the flow. Most of Luxord's weapons had pretty decent spread midair and on ground, and decent magic, so I guess he's technically the most useful? (Btw, never felt right using Roxas in mission mode, felt like it kind of defeated the purpose.)

Roxas, since he's the most familiar to play as. Plus it feels dishonest to earn those Mission Crowns playing as characters you can't otherwise use in normal gameplay.

(Btw you forgot Dual-Wielding Roxas. Technically he's a separate player.)

You've gotta play as Roxas if you want to tackle missions seriously, imo

Roxas, duh.

But being more serious, I was rocking it out as Xaldin the other day when my brother was helping me get the last few mission crowns. Master's Circle is mine! (But since you can't use other characters for challenge missions, Ultima Weapon is near impossible for me to get.)

*Sigh* Where's all the Xaldin fans? C'mon, he's the Dragoon of the Organization 13, so he has to be cool, right?

Dual Wield Roxas is just a combo for Roxas that happens to change his outfit, you still get him by choosing Roxas

I count him as separate because Oathkeeper/Oblivion gives you a combo and limit break you can't use anywhere outside Mission Mode, except for the Deep Drive segment.

Well yeah, and that's a big reason why I don't like mission mode; it lets you use a huge amount of unique interesting characters, but they just so happen to all be not nearly as useful as the main character anyway, so there's no point. It's one of the many many many things Days did wrong.

But Sora is useful though. Edited by Klonoa the Dream Traveler

I played mostly as Roxas but I kinda liked Xion, Riku, and Donald as well. Days was one of the first few titles I beat so I didn't know a whole lot about the other characters quite yet and hadn't gotten into them.
