Tetsuya Nomura

"Of course, Disney Interactive and Square Enix [are the] publisher. They’re combining their forces to bring Kingdom Hearts. So, the other associated companies under Disney [are] not something that is as simple as us consulting with Disney Interactive. So, unfortunately, the lineup is kind of considered as different".

With the possibilities of all the different Disney worlds that could appear in Kingdom Hearts 3, this statement satisfies and scare me at the same damn time. Why you wonder? simple, one word, Pixar.

Of course, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar are under the Walt Disney umbrella way before Marvel and Star Wars, however, Pixar has been expressed to be its own separate studio with no direct association with Walt Disney Animation Studio. They do not help each other at all whatsoever with their respective movies. This was agreed upon to distinguish both of these different studios in Disney.

Now, it is not all doom and gloom, and you know why? one person: John Lasseter.

Now you're wondering, what's so special about him? Oh, for people who do not know, you're going to be surprised... John Lasseter is the animation boss for Pixar when it first started and became the animation boss for Walt Disney Animation Studios after Disney outright purchased Pixar. Okay, that may not be much but let me tell you his legacy: he is the director and creator of Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and A Bugs Life. Now, away from the tangent and back to the main topic at hand, in layman terms...

Pixar will be accepted in Kingdom Hearts 3 if John Lasseter accepts Pixar properties in Kingdom Hearts 3.

So, do you think that John Lasseter sees the magic of Pixar in kingdom Hearts 3 and allows Square Enix and Disney to implement it?

Well I see no problem with Pixar being added to the game. More publicly is good i guess

It's not necessarily Pixar fitting into Kingdom Hearts, rather, it's the technical and legal issues of placing Pixar into Kingdom Hearts 3 in the first place. If you read the quote that I used from Tetsuya then you would understand the potential prevention of adding Pixar into Kingdom Hearts 3.

Oh yeah .That would be a problem xD.  Well lets hope the legal issues will be solved sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, John Lasseter and the other executives at Pixar were able to see the potential in Kingdom Hearts and allow Pixar to be represented in the game.

Pixar is very likely with Tangled so I doubt about the technical issues.

And the most will be new worlds so probably yes.

Given that Nomura almost put Woody and Buzz Lightyear in KHIIFM, I really don't think this is going to be much of an issue. John Lasseter isn't just the boss of Pixar, but he's the boss and overseer of a lot of Disney's projects. I see no reason why, if Square asked, Pixar wouldn't allow them to use properties like Toy Story and such. It'd be a different process for sure, but certainly doable.

The problem with most PIXAR films is that they don't fit the main storyline because they're too modern. One or two might be adjusted in a way to avoid it but mainly the modern timeline they're at is what causes them to not be in the series.

Now having talked about that I DO WANT THEM to be in KH. SPECIALLY I think Brave will be in KHIII. If that happens... OMG I will be screaming like a girl!!!! :3

I'd love for Pixar to show up! I've had an idea where maybe one future game in the series could heavily focus on Pixar and mainly include Pixar worlds or something.

Personally, I think they're in the same category as Star Wars and Marvel.Sure, add as many of them in as you want in Kingdom Hearts IV.But all worlds in Kingdom Hearts III should remain Disney bred and mainly licensed worlds, so as to keep the way until the end of the Xehanort Saga.

As long as John Lasseter and the Pixar department approves of Pixar being represented in Kingdom Hearts 3. My fear is that they may fall into the same legal pitfall as Marvel and Star Wars as Pixar is its own company despite its strong co-existence with Walt Disney Animation Studio.

That is why I ultimately believe that we will get Pixar representation (in the most obvious form of Toy Story). They weren't implemented in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix because there was a contract and ownership dispute between Pixar and Disney at the time of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix's release.

Yeah, movies like UP and Ratatouille may not translate at all, however, Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc and Inside Out (seeing as Square Enix gets advance screenings of Disney movies before they're released globally): these movies would translate perfectly into the Kingdom Hearts universe.

I see where you're coming from. Pixar is distinct from Disney so a perspective like this is understandable. Disney and Square Enix fused well because both their properties are based on fantasy. Pixar is based on more abstract and experimental genres which can be harder to represent for Kingdom Hearts. Alongside that, it may end up being in the same legal category as Marvel and Star Wars in terms of licensing.

Well I think they managed Pixar since the most will be new worlds.

And StarWars got a very small chance since the interview with Nomura.

I want also to say about Inside Out the worlds are probably all chosen and I hope more for Up to be in it :).

With Marvel there could be a 50/50 chance seeing Big Hero 6 as a world or Baymax being a summon since that is the only Disney animated film based off a Marvel comic.

Actually, this may be a shock to you but Disney's Big Hero 6 is not Marvel property. It is not part of the Marvel Comic Universe. It's a standalone movie adaptation of Marvel's Big Hero 6 that is part of the Walt Disney Animation Universe (Disney Movie Universe), therefore, it has just as much of a chance of being in Kingdom Hearts 3 as every other Disney world (especially considering the fact that it is a tribute to Japan and it has been seen by Square Enix before it hit the cinemas!).

Sorry to burst your bubble but not only does Kingdom Hearts 3 have more than enough Walt Disney Animation content for worlds but Nomura explicitly stated that adding Star Wars and Marvel is more complex, legally challenging and too time consuming because they're not directly associated with Disney interactive.

I think that the only worlds that actually fit in are Brave, A bug's life, Inside Out, The Incredibles, Wall-E and Finding Nemo (without counting the Sydney parts). For the most I want for Toy Story to be in KH I don't really see how could they fit them since all of their environment is totally modern. :/

That's first enough. I just want to official confirmation as to whether Pixar properties will be Kingdom Hearts 3. It's so 50/50 that the anticipation is painful.

Seeing as Woody and Buzz was going to be KH2 summons at one point, I can see it being a small indication that Pixar properties can work their way into KH3.

Especially since Pixar has a good set of worlds similar to Disney Animations compared to lets say Marvel and LucasFilm.

But I would like to see Big Hero 6 in KH3 if they ever want a Marvel property. It fits in better than the Avengers/Iron Man/Captain America/etc. movies.

Well what about Marvel weapons like Goofy having Captain America's shield, and Donald having Thor's hammer without including there world? With Star Wars Sora having a lightsaber keyblade without a Star Wars world?

As I previously stated, Disney's Big Hero 6 is not a Marvel property. It is an adaptation of a Marvel property. Disney's Big Hero 6 is not part of the Marvel Comic Universe, rather, it is part of the Walt Disney Animation Universe, therefore, this movie is more than likely to be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3.

However, the fact that Woody and Buzz were supposed to be in Final Mix does give me hope that Toy Story (and Pixar) may be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3.

The quote that I have provided in the beginning of this post explains why Star Wars and Marvel can't be implemented into Kingdom Hearts 3. However, Goofy having Captain America's Shield, Donald having Thor's hammer and Sora having an Iron Man Keyblade would be an awesome tribute to Marvel (but highly unlikely).

With BH6 if Disney plans to make more animated films based off Marvel comics that are not in the MCU then Disney might create the Marvel Animated Universe for animated films like BH6. I think Sora's keyblade would have to be from either Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy.

As surprising as this may sound, that may be very unlikely. The only reason as to why Big Hero 6 was even adapted for a movie in the first place was because of this scenario...

Don Hall (the director of the movie) has 5 obscure Marvel comics to adapt in a Disney style. John Lasseter only accepted the initial pitch of Big Hero 6 because he seen the potential for a boy and a robot movie as Disney has not done something like that before at the time. Their intention was to just make another traditionally iconic Disney movie, but rather than basing it of ancient folklore, novels and fairytales, they'd be experimental by basing it off a failed Marvel comic series.

Xemnas would be just pissed off.

To be fair, quite a lot of the original Kingdom Hearts characters are modelled after Star Wars characters.
