My analysis on these Steam Summer Sales and my purchases

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies and gentlemen from KH13.

As you might NOT know me, I'll say that I'm a complete afficionado when it comes to games, and EVERYONE loves good sales!

And for gamers, the Steam Summer Sales are a No-Miss. This year's one was pretty hype before it even started.

Before I start my post and list what I bought and how much I spent, I want to thank the almighty Lord Gaben for his blessing and his discounts that are above godly. Long live Gaben. Gaben is love. Gaben is life.

Continuing, this year was pretty hype as I've mentioned, even though last year's sales were better due to the products they had. Most games even having discounts were pretty expensive, which hurt EVEN MORE the gamers' wallets all around the world (I know the pain). But I must be honest it was a good one, excluding the fact that Steam increased GTA 5's price to 74 euros (if I'm not mistaken) and gave us a 30 percent discount to 50 euros, very well done for poor ignorant people let me say.

I can't complain much though, these are the first sales that I've actually bought something for myself! And it felt good for me, but not so much for my wallet.

Above will be listed, for the interested, all the games I bought chronologically (I won't add prices), I also asked for refunds of games I didn't like , I know I've spent alot but please rest assured that I've been saving all over the year and I've received a crap a ton of money lately.

   Anyway, the games:

- The Witcher : Enhanced Edition ROW (Refunded)

- The Witcher 2

- Grand Theft Auto IV + Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

- Castle Crashers

- Counter Strike : Global Offensive (Refunded)

- Rock Of Ages

- How To Survive : Storm Warning Edition

- Red Faction Guerrila

- Slender : The Arrival (w/e)

- Alien : Isolation

- Dead Space

- Dead Space 2

- Terraria (Refunded)

- Dino D-Day (Refunded)

- Dishonored GOTY

- BattleBlock Theater

- L.A Noire Complete Edition

- Fallout Classic Collection ( Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics )

- Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack (Includes Saints Row II and DLCS, Saints Row III and DLCS and Saints Row IV and DLCS)

- Dead Island Collection (Dead Island and Riptide)

- Ark : Survival Evolved (Waiting for a refund)

-------------

I'd like to say it was a fun sales, and I'm already saving up for this year's Winter Sales!

What did you buy? :3

Wallets are shouting for joy now that the sale is over xD

I bought 4 games during the sale:

- Ori and the Blind Forest

- Dust: An Elysian Tail

- Final Fantasy VII

- Final Fantasy VIII

I really wanted to buy more, but I somehow managed to restrain myself from damaging my wallet anymore.

I heard the GTA5 thing was down to Rockstar although it was still really shitty. All the negative reviews the game got because of it was hilarious. It really wasn't a smart move on their part... No doubt people still bought it though. It reminds me of when The Witcher 3 launched on the PSN store and they put the price up to €67.99 so they could bundle it with the season pass for uh... €90 and say "Save €2.99 by buying the bundle!" when in truth they delibrately put up the price from €65 in the first place.

Any ways, I didn't pick up much mainly because I missed most of the sale as I was on holiday, but I came back in time to pick up

-Ori and the Blind Forest

-Life is Strange Ep1-5

I also gifted a few games to my brother, but nothing to write home about. One had a potato or something.

Fun fact: Rockstar didn't increase the price of GTAV at all, it was the standard $59.99 throughout the entire Summer Sale. What they did do that was scummy was bundle the base GTAV and a bunch of in-game money (which is what equaled out to the amount you were referring to) so it was the same price as the game on it's own, so buyers would be inclined to buy that instead of just the base game. The reason? If you activate the in-game money (basically a microtransaction) then you can no longer return the game because you can't return the microtransaction and therefore you can't return the bundle. It's a way to work around Steam's new return policy, and it's kinda firetrucking despicable.

Aaaanyhow, the games I actually got: Rock of Ages, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, Life Is Strange Ep. 1 and Lego Batman 2. Not too much all things considered, but certainly a great value.
