A long, detailed, comprehensive guide to playing Kingdom Hearts χ [Chi]! This guide was created by user: VexenReplica of kh13.com. Please don't take credit for my work using your name, thanks! Follow the instructions in this pastebin or KH13’s own guide to set up your Yahoo! Japan email. You can only play Chi with a Yahoo! Japan email. If you’re having issues setting up your account, you can have SkyKeybladeHero help in creating it in this thread. After creating it, I suggest you head over to this thread and put in your username and union, so that not only you are a listed member of the KH13 community Chi family, but also other English-speaking players can find you and hook up with you, making your experience in Chi that much better! Once you’ve set up your Yahoo! Japan account, click on the big pink heart thing on the right-hand side of the main site. You will be redirected to this lovely loading screen: Get used to it, as you’ll be seeing it a lot. You’ll go through a tutorial. You can skip cutscenes by using the SKIP feature in the top-left hand corner. You’ll eventually come to the Station of Awakening. This is the place where you can choose your union. I’m biased since I love the Vulpeus Union, so I’d say pick that, but choose whichever union you’d like to play with, or which union your friends play in. (the above two pictures are from Everglow’s walkthough; the rest are exclusive to me and were taken in my game) You’ll be then redirected to a page that looks something like this, a main hub: Let’s break it down, piece by piece. Click on the spoiler to learn more about the topic or grouping! The top: The left-most button returns you to this screen The button next to your username takes you to a world-select screen. The big long rectangle has a lot of key info in it. It has your username, your level, your LUX, and your experience that you need to reach your next level. To the right of that is your AP and BP; the green buttons next to it take you to a screen where you can refill your AP and BP, if you have the items. The music-note is the volume control. Click it to adjust the volume and click on the music note to mute/unmute the music. The button across from that is your quality settings. I suggest having it on medium or low to decrease loading times as you transition from screen to screen. Ah, and then there’s the menu button. I’ll talk about that later On the sides there are colorful buttons: The topmost one is the レイドボス出現中!(A Raid Boss Appeared!) button. This button takes you to Raid Boss fight, explained later. This button may not be here at times The one underneath that is your プレセント(Present) Box. When this icon has numbers near it, that means you have items in it! The anatomy of a reward: The next button is your mission list. Click on it to see what missions you have not yet completed. When there is a red ! next to the box, it means that there’s been a change to the mission list (you either completed a mission or you got a new mission) Whenever you complete a mission, you'll be given the oppurtunity to go to your Mission List. Click on the "ミッションリストを開く" (Open Mission List) to go to the mission list menu. The other option, 閉じる, means close the menu. You'll then be redirected to the mission list: Click either "報告する!" (Report the Mission!) or まとめて報告する!(Report All Missions!) to continue. You'll get a pop-up screen that displays your reward and then it will show you the next mission, if applicable. YOU CANNOT REDEEM YOUR REWARD UNLESS YOU REPORT THE MISSION. All rewards will be sent to the Present Box. The missions are sorted into three categories: Daily, Limited, and Grade. As one may assume, Daily missions only last for a day. Limited missions last for (normally) the duration of the event - they are limited in the time one can complete them. Finally, Grade missions are missions that are unlocked via level and have no expiration date. Anatomy of a mission: Beneath that is ギルトターゲット(Guilt Target). This will be greyed out for you first-time users until you reach level 20, displaying the message that you can’t use it until you reach level 20. Anatomy of a guilt target: Beneath that is the ストーリー (Story). Click on that to see the latest story mission that you can work on, and the rewards you can get from beating that story. And now for the bottom row! The first one, ワールド, is another button that can take you to the world select map. The next button is your チーム (Team). It takes you to the Raid Boss page (which is also your team page). Next, we have your デッキ編成(Deck Editing). You can change your cards and Keyblade here. Following that, we have the カード合成(Card Synthesis). This process will be explained later Next, there’s the スキル(Skill) page. As you can think, this will be explained later. キーブレード! (Keyblade). Here you can do Keyblade upgrading, which will be explained later. Next, there’s the カードドロー(Card Draw). You can exchange real money, card vouchers, or moogle pins to get cards of varying rarities. Next is the モグトレード(Mog Trade), where you can exchange moogle coins (which are different than moogle pins) for rare items. Second-to-last is the “pay to win” portion of the game, ショップ(Shop). Here you can pay real money to get really strong and valuable cards. I won't really explain this option, but it works just like the Moogle Trade-In, only that you pay to get credits to spend. The last option is the イベント(Event) button. This button shows up only during events and shows your ranking for the event. While not an icon, in the field screen and the Raid Boss/Team screen, you can see the UI:On and UI:Off buttons. Switching to UI:Off helps players who deal with lag by removing the buttons on the side and bottom on the field screen, and getting rid of a few options in the raid boss menu. Flipping the button back to UI:On will make the icons appear. Now for the center of the screen: The button with “Encounter” takes you to the Raid Boss/Team page. The Box with the red/yellow/green buttons on its top is info given out by SE to its players. Don’t click them; they’re all in Japanese The thingy below it is an ad. No more needs to be said for that. SO LET’S CLICK STUFF!!!... or talk about the menu… Most of these options were available to us on the main page, but a few weren’t… My Status and Avatar go hand-in hand. (Yeah I know I spelled amount wrong ) (Also note that this is a really old screenshot) And for avatar: Sometimes, you might see a red ribbon on the top of one of your outfits. All this means is that you have this particular outfit equipped. Outfits with “Set” on the bottom-right hand corner means that all parts of the set will be equipped if you choose that option. All the card album shows is what cards you’ve gotten over your time in KH Chi. Theater Mode: This mode allows you to watch cutscenes from the game that you have already seen, in addition to old event cutscenes, such as Crystals of Light or First Anniversary. Click on each world's banner to go to that world's specific cutscenes. Note that the Moogle's icon, even though it says Daybreak Town, deals with the side stories, such as Crystals of Light and First Anniversary. All of the names are in Japanese, so if you're searching for a particular cutscene, it may take you a while to find it! Items: Potion restores 10 AP; an ether restores 1 BP. Mega Potions and Mega Ethers completely refill your AP and BP. Kupo Nuts (I’ve also heard Kupo Fruits but idk) have a special purpose that will be talked about later on. The display caps at 3 digits, so it's fully possible to have more than 999 of an item - the game just doesn't display it. Anatomy of an item: Field Items are items picked up in the field; more about that later. Other options: Backyard is a place where “excess” cards are stored. It has a limit of 60 cards. When your card capacity is exceeded, the cards that you get after that are considered “excess” So here I had didn’t have enough room to keep these cards so they went into my backyard. You can read about the new feature, Card Warehouse, here. Serial Code is a place where you can redeem serial codes for the game, say from a Coro Coro or the fantastic card people got for getting 2.5 in Japan. 'Twas a beautiful Key Art... User Code is an option that, once Kingdom Hearts Unchained Chi is released, will be able to synchronize your player's appearance (and possibly more) with the Chi account. In addition, you can synch your Unchained Chi's appearence to your Chi account. More detailed information will come when this feature is useable. Help gives you tips and pointers on how to play the game better. THIS IS IN JAPANESE. Past ranking is your ranking from your last event. You can access old trade-in options here if you have rewards that you want to claim but the evnt has expired. Speaking of maintenance, it happens first and third “Thursday of each month from 13:00 to sometime between 16:00 and 18:00” THIS IS JST! You can convert this into your own time zone using an application like world clock. Other time-based events that you may want to know: GUT (Guilt-Up Time) lasts for 30 minutes and increases your Guilt received from Heartless to be exactly 5. (more on this later) LUT (Lux-Up Time) doubles the amount of LUX you receive per enemy you defeat. When it’s happening, you’ll see a status bar above the Raid Boss button: It’ll tell you how much time is left in GUT/LUT. So, you may be wondering, what exactly is Guilt and Lux? Well, according to the story, Lux is the light that you’re bringing in for your Union. I’m not sure exactly what the game says about Guilt other than you need to collect it. Guilt Info, Guilt Helping: So, why do you collect guilt? Guilt gives you power. As stated in the guilt target thingy above, the more guilt you have, the more power you have. This damage is released on any enemy that you encounter - from mere shadows to Subspecies Raid Bosses. And the best part is that it’s not a one-time thing. Once you have the guilt, you keep the guilt until the guilt counter is reset (which is about once every two to three or so weeks). So, if you have a lot of guilt, you can do a lot of damage to enemies, making it very useful to bring down enemies that have a lot of HP. However, this power of guilt can only be used once, at the start of the battle, unless you have a Skill called Guilt Target, which has its own activation rate. This is done to make sure you’re not too overpowered. In addition, you can help other people (and other people can help you!) with your guilt. This is done in the Guilt Help, which can be found in Team menu. Go to the tab circled in green, and you’ll see a list of your team members, ranked with regards to LUX. If you click the buttons that are circled in green (ギルトヘルプ), you’ll go to a menu that looks similar to your guilt menu. However, this is the guilt of the party member. Let’s click on haru86’s button! You’ll see how much guilt haru86 has. Clicking on ヘルプする (help) will transport you to a world selection screen, but it’ll be in haru86’s world. Any guilt that you get in that world will go toward haru86’s guilt, not your guilt. When you defeat 5 Guilt Heartless in one person’s world, you will get 1 mog coin. You can do this for all members of your team. Each day, the counter is reset, so each day you can get a maximum of 29 mog coins from guilt helping your team. In addition, other people can help you with your guilt. You’ll get an exclamation mark over your guilt symbol, and when you click it, you’ll get a message like this: This is just saying that someone (in this case, おかりんご) helped you with your guilt. Click “Ok” to confirm that you saw the message and it will take you to your guilt menu. Clicking on the second tab, you can see what the helper got you and how much, If no one helped you, it will be blank. LUX is this game’s main rating system to see how you compare to other players. Basically, the more LUX you have, the higher your ranking. Beating field enemies generally gives you a base of one LUX (although, in past months, it wasn’t like this), and Raid Bosses’ LUX output depends on the damage that you do to them. In game, every week there are goals that you can try and meet. If you meet them, you can get some items (most notably the SR and SR+ medals). However, some weeks SE is more generous than others and they offer other (generally better) incentives for getting lots of LUX. At the end of each week (Monday at 00:00 JST), LUX is reset and you get to start all over again! There are two very important cards in this game, although they are not strong on their own: Yen Sid and Fairy Godmother. Yen Sid’s purpose is in the card synthesis area. He can limit cut any card of his rank (R+, SR, or SR+), acting as a wildcard for that card. His card makes it easy to get rare cards to High Purity (Basically, the highest level a card can go...although new implementations kind of screw that a little for SR+s). High Purity gives your card (excluding Key Arts) a rainbow background and it doubles the card’s stats, as compared to the uncut card. The red outline is due to ultimization, something we’ll get to later. Regular: High Purity Ultimization Do you see the difference? Fairy Godmother’s Card provides a temporary strength boost to your cards. R+ is a 1.5 multiplier, SR is a 2.0 multiplier, and a SR+ (if you can get your hands on one) is a 3.0 multiplier. This boost lasts for a week. OK, now onto unions. Remember that animal that you chose at the beginning of your adventure? Well, there were 4 other animals on the station of awakening. Those other 4 animals make up the different unions in the game, who you will face in combat every day! The team, at the end of the day (in Japan) with the most LUX collected wins! You and the opposing union fight the same Raid Bosses, so it is to your advantage that you hit the Raid Bosses a bunch so that you defeat them and get good rewards, as Raid Bosses give off more LUX than the field heartless. So the five unions vying for control of the light are: Vulpeus (fox) Ursus (bear) Leopardus (leopard) Anguis (snake) Unicornis (unicorn) Each day, the number of unions who were victorious are totalled up for each group and are added together. At the end of each week, the union with the greatest number of wins gets “special prizes” - but not really. There are “special” weekly Limited Missions (that are the same each and every week) that go out after the winner is determined. The union with the most wins gets all of the special weekly missions and the second place team only gets some of them and so forth. The rewards aren’t really that fantastic so I wouldn’t worry too much about these limited missions. Team Page/Raid Boss Page: After clicking on the x1 Atk, x2.5 Atk, or x4 Atk, you’ll go to a screen like this: Yay. A fight against trickmaster Click the red circle. You’ll attack the Raid Boss (in my case Trickmaster) Sometimes you’ll get a bonus called a Chain Bonus. This bonus only appears when people have attacked the Raid Boss prior to you within a window of 4 minutes and 30 seconds. After that, you’ll do you normal three-hit combo and then the Raid Boss will attack you. After 6 turns, you’ll get one (of two screens) Defeat: Victory: (ignore the gummi pieces at the bottom of the screen) Defeat comes after basically every attack you do to the raid boss. The lucky person who gets the final blow on the Raid Boss gets the Complete/Victory screen. As you may see on the bottom of the Victory screen, there’s a message that says you get a reward in your Present Box. Whenever your union/team beats a raid boss, your union gets a little prize. In addition, the team who did the most overall damage (more than 50%) to the Raid Boss gets a special bonus. This can be identified by the color of the background on the Complete page; the background color is red, so your union did the most damage. If the background is blue, then the opposing team won. The MVP of the fight gets three extra ethers if it’s a normal raid boss or five if it’s a subspecies (more on the subspecies below!). Another thing to note with the background color is that whichever team did the most damage will get a damage multiplier of x5 on their next attack on the next Raid Boss. Subspecies: You may have noticed a little gauge next to the chat bar that looked something like this (and if you haven't, I'm pointing it out to you): maybe with a different number in it. When this number reaches 100%, it is guaranteed that a Subspecies boss will come. A subspecies boss is a more difficult version (more HP and more ATK power) of the current Raid Boss. However, the Subspecies boss gives off far better rewards for beating it and it gives off greater LUX than its Raid Boss counterpart. The timer is also decreased for the subspecies fight; you only have 30 minutes to beat it rather than the 2 hours that you have for the normal raid bosses. Which brings up the next point: failing a Raid Boss mission. This only can happen when the timer expires. When this happens, the Raid Boss Subspecies counter is reset to 0% and you will need to wait 10 minutes to fight the next Raid Boss. One thing to note is that sometimes, you may get an error message that looks like this: This is saying that the Raid Boss is already defeated. It will take you back to the Team page. If you’re with a good team, you’ll see this screen often in the first few hours of the day because the low-level Raid Bosses don’t have a lot of HP. Deck/Card Adjustment: The yellow-colored numbers indicate that a card is being boosted for a specific amount of time. The numbers above the Attack/Assist card are different tabs for each of your decks, kind of how the decks in KH CoM worked. You can save up to 5 different decks. Press the left and right arrows near the keyblade to change which keyblade you are going to use. Each attack card has a defense and attack skill, and the assist card is a HP and LUT number. The higher these numbers are, the more powerful the card is. The button beneath the cards, はずす, will remove the card from your deck. Drag a card into an open space or replace it with a different card in your deck to add it to your deck. Clicking the optimize button will place the cards with the highest overall stats into your deck. Click save (the button next to optimize) once you’re done editing your deck to save the progress you’ve made. Card Synth: See the card in the Base Box? That’s the card you’ll be synthing. If you click the おまかせ選択、it’ll quickly get up to 10 level 1 cards that can be used as experience fodder. Note that cards with Skills attached to them will not be put into that box, so you will need to manually take the skill off the card. You can also drag cards into the box without pressing the おまかせ選択 button. Now, you may see the words “Limit Cut” over the Wisdom Form Sora in the Material Box or may see the 5 go to 4. What does this mean? Well, whenever you synth to off the exact same card together (or a Yen Sid, it acts as a wildcard), it increases the card’s maximum level by 5. You can see that Sora’s Wisdom form card is already at LEVEL MAX! By Limit Cutting it with another card, its maximum level can now be 75 rather than 70. Click the “合成する” to synthesize the cards together. Now, you may get a nice message that comes up when you click the following: All it is asking is if you want to go through with the card synthesis. Click the checkbox to confirm that you want to continue, and then press “はい,” Japanese for “Yes.” You’ll then go through a lovely animation and then you’ll see that our card has indeed levelled up! You can see that Sora’s card level is now 75, whereas before it was 70. The maximum level up for N-R+ is four limit cuts, SR is five limit cuts, and SR+ is six limit cuts. Card Trade-In: One of my favorite aspects of the game. There are 4 different types of cards, as you can see.We have the normal cards with a normal background, the HP cards with a gold background, some HP cards without a gold background, and some greyed-out cards. The gold cards have a special attachment to the Mog Trade: they are HP’ed cards that can be traded in for Mog Medals, depending on their rarity. R+ gold background cards can be exchanged for SR Medals, and SR gold background cards can be exchanged for SR+ Medals. Then, you may ask, why don’t the SR+ Cards exchange for SR++ Medals, like Hercules and Marluxis? Well, they have a special purpose that you may discover later on. Hold onto any SR+ HP’ed cards that you may have. Like the other normal background cards, you can exchange them for munny. Greyed-out cards are those found within your deck. De-equip them from your deck(s) if you wish to sell them. Skills: Can you spot the differences between the skills? It’s the same skill, but with two different red buttons! In the first screenshot, the red button will increment the skill that is already priorly attached to this card. If you can see it, HP III is already attached in the bottom slot of the Key Art 15’ and is level 15, whereas in the Neku and Shiki card, the only skill it has is HP I. This button is asking the player if he/she wants to add the skill to the card. Let’s add the skill to the Key Art 15’. As you can see, the box that comes us is prompting us what to do. As we have 2 HP III skills, use the arrow on the right to increase the number of skills attached to the card. As a general rule of thumb, the maximum amount of a single skill (such as HP I, HP II, or HP III) is 20. Click “はい” to confirm that you want to attach 2 HP III skills. AND... This Key Art’s skill for HP III is now at 17! For Skills, you can also deequip them. Click on the pink tab at the top, and then click on the red button next to the skill's name that you wish to remove. Select the percentage of getting the skill back - this can range anywhere from 30% to 100%. The higher the rate of success, the more munny it will cost you. Sit through the deequiping screen, and then you should get the skill back or see it fade into oblivion. Ultimization: One of the more advanced aspects of the game, ultimization allows you to make even your strongest cards stronger. This only works for HP’ed SR+ cards (the Vexen card we saw before was an example of an HP’ed card). It allows a card’s stats to reach either 70000/70000 atk/def for attack cards or 70000/700% HP/LUX% for assist cards. How do you get such great and powerful cards? Well, it takes time. Paying players can (obviously) achieve it faster, but those who are free players can still ultimize, albeit slower. How you ultimize: First, obtain a SR+ card that has been HP’ed. For my example, we shall use a random card, but if you are going to do it, use a card that you don’t mind seeing in your deck for a long time. Meet Ice Titan. It’s a member of the current Mog Medal Roster (as of writing) and it’s a perfect candidate for an ultimization. It’s an HP’ed SR+, and it appreciates a little power and defense boost. You’ll see, in place of the normal 10 card synth, there is only one card slot available, with material on the sides. It has been replaced with some stones that you may notice from daily missions. And, in addition to that, there are two options to synthesize now, not just the normal “合成する” but also the “アルティメット化する.” The second button is how players can ultimize their cards. Click it, and a screen (like the one below) should pop up. Click はいto continue (assuming you have sufficient gems), and you’ll see that your card has become something different than it once was. Ultimizing unlocks a skill slot, letting your card now have the ability to have four skills on at once, gives it a nice red edging, and you can now synthsize cards with it to further its stat development. The card takes its gained stats directly from the card that synthesizes with it, so the more powerful the card is that synthesizes with it, the more stats it will gain. Then, you might ask, I can just feed cards to this Ice Titan indefinitely until I hit the cap, right? Sadly, this is not the case. If you look under the three buttons (yes, we have two new buttons which I will explain later), there is a number (5 in this case). That is how many times you can synth a card with your ultimized one. Then how, you may ask, can I hit the stat cap? The answer is a simple one: Ultimate Moogles. These cards have incredibly high attack and defense or HP and LUX stats. Since you cannot put them in your deck, their only useful option is to get these cards to HP and synthesize them with the card you want ultimized, as they will pass quite a bit of strength or LUX to the card in mention. Using a FGM on these cards will only increase the amount passed, but be warned: if you ultimize an ultimate moogle, it will not pass on any more strength or LUX to the card than its base HP’ed form. Therefore, concentrate your ultimizing efforts on the cards you want to use and not on the moogles. So, the two new buttons that appeared: the middle one is the ultimize option (that is, use the card that is in the material area for the ultimization). But the bottom one is something new. At some point in playing the game, you may pick up an item called a reset gem. Much like the other gems that you get from daily missions, this too has a use in ultimization. It allows you, as its name suggests, to reset the stats of a card that you got – could even be completely ultimized to what it was originally, plus 5% of the current card’s stats. Please note, however, that the reset gem is very rare – you get only one in the main game, and the rest are paywalled. Use it only if you deem it necessary. But enough talk – let’s show an ultimization in action. The card I will be ultimizing will be the Seven Princesses card (the Jasmine-Belle-Alice-Kairi version). So for that card, I will use a Ultimate Assist Moogle to strengthen it. The moogle’s stats (boosted by a FGM SR+): And the Seven Princesses’ Stats: As you can see, the HP has already been maxed out (it maxes at 70000, but I’m using a FGM SR to boost by two it this week). The LUX caps out at 700% (1400% with the boost), so hopefully I will reach max with this ultimization. Setup: As you can see, the reset option is not available when a card occupies the material slot. Click on the 強化するto strengthen the card. On the bottom right-hand corner (and in the dialogue box that comes up to confirm your ultimization), it’ll show you the minimum stat increase for the card. For cards that are HP’ed (like my Ultimate Moogle), there is a probability than more than the minimum will pass on. Click the check box and then はいto confirm. Since I received an Excellent!! Power-up, more than the minimum passed, and now that card has max stats. Mog Trade: There’s two parts to the Mog Trade. First off I will show off the Mog Medal Trade. See how I have a one in the first column thingy at the top of the page? That’s telling me that I have one SR+ Medal that I can claim a reward to! We can either choose from Attack or Assist cards. Right now, I’m building my attack deck, so I’ll go with the Attack (アタック) SR+ redemption (the option on the top-left). See the red button “トレード?” That’s the prompt that will allow you to trade in your medals for cards. Click it and this message will pop up: This is just confirming that you do want what you have selected. Click “トレード” to confirm and ”キャンセル” to cancel and re-chose. Sit through another animation and you’ll get your card, which is... ...Tron. Only have about a bazillion of him Click the red button at the bottom of the window to return to the home screen of the Mog Medal Trade. Onto the second part of the Mog Trade! WOOHOO! In the game, you can earn mog coins in various ways - guilt helping, mission completion, LUX absorption… and this is the place you can redeem them. Some items, like the potion, ether, and mythril crystal, are daily “spawns” (that is, you can buy them every day), whereas other items (like the card capacity plus, seen in the top right corner of the screenshot) are a one-time only purchase. In the Mog Trade, some items might have underneath then a date in red. This date is the expiration date; after that date, the items will disappear from the Mog Trade. Click “トレード” to trade in your Moogle Coins. You’ll come to a screen like this: All this screen does is confirming that you want to trade in your moogle coins for the item. Click “トレード” to trade in and “キャンセル” to cancel. After clicking “トレード,” this screen will come up: This is just confirming that you got the item. Click “OK” to exit the prompt. Raise Draw: The Premium Raise Draw tab is for those who are paying to win. Raise, Ticket, and Pins draw are available to all players, paying or otherwise. Ugh, raise draw. So you see there are two options, right? Well yeah, but the second option is only available to paying players ;-; You can get really good cards out of raise draw, sometimes boosted at x3 or even x4 their original stats… 2.0% of the time, or one in 50. Raise draw tickets are hard to come by, so I suggest that you keep them until you have a lot (at least 35+, if not 50+). If you do become a paying player, then you can “buy” a SR (which has a 5% chance of appearing). The cards that you can get from the Raise Draw have the potential to come attached with a skill. Um also in this menu is the other ticket redemption (for your gold, silver, and bronze tickets) and the card draw. In card draw, you can redeem your moogle pins to get (mostly) N/N+ cards and moogle cards. Moogles are very special cards due to the fact that they are, for lack of a better word, experience cards. Their sole purpose in life is to be synthesized with your other cards to make them higher-levelled, with the exception of the Ultimate ones, which are used in Ultimization. Every day, Card Draw offers you a free card. Click on the highlighted red button to get your free card! As always, when you get the card, click the red button to return to the Card Draw menu. After this, you’ll need to pay 200 moogle pins per card you get. The second option (which was greyed out before when we got the free card of the day) allows you to pay 2000 moogle pins to get 10 cards. Basically, it’s an easier and quicker way to exchange your pins in bulk (and when you have pins like I do, it’s much easier and quicker to do it this way). Party: Not much to say here. You can chat with your party in here, using the chat box. You can see the other members in your party by clicking the red button “メンバー” The other red button (with the complicated kanji) means “leave the party.” The other two buttons are greyed-out for everyone except the party leader. Those two buttons control who you can ask to join your party and who you can kick off your party, if necessary (for example, if a member has not logged into Chi in a month, you can kick them off your team and get a new member to replace him or her). The tab next to the chat (トーク)tab shows when members defeat Raid Bosses. When chatting, your messages will have a green background on them. You can delete your messages by clicking the red button underneath your message. Joining parties: Click the thing that’s circled. A “Search” prompt should come up. On this screen, you can manually recruit players that are "free" players (players that have no team). Click the red button beside the individual's name to ask him/her if he/she would like to join your party. However, if you're looking for a team to join, click the tab circled. Click the drop-down tab to filter the users by beginner/intermediate/veteran, letter, or other search criteria. Click to join the team. Some teams have a manual permit application (all but the first one in the picture above) while the rest you can automatically join the team. Most of the elite teams have the manual permit application so as to not have beginners or weaker players join their team without first submitting an application. Keyblade Strengthening: Well, those are nice Keyblades you have... the highest (as of right now) level of a keyblade is +43… but let’s take a look at the Starlight (Kingdom Key replica) to see how to level up a keyblade and see what it can do! So my Starlight’s level is +37 (6 levels away from done). Underneath the level is the damage multiplier. Each card that you have is assigned to a category: Power (the red sword), Magic (the blue snowflake thing), or Speed (the green wing). Whenever a card with that category shows up in that spot, it’ll receive a damage multiplier. Generally, the higher the level of your keyblade, the greater the multiplier will be. Underneath that, do you see the +4700? If you remember reading in the Raid Boss section, there was a symbol underneath the raid boss’s picture with a keyblade in it. That is called the Advantage Keyblade. Every time you attack a Raid Boss with the Advantage Keyblade, you’ll get a damage boost by that amount. Speaking of Raid Bosses, let’s bring up the EX Bonus. Whenever the advantage keyblade draws three cards in a specific order, the cards will receive a x3.0 damage boost. This specific order depends on the affiliation of your card (either upright or reverse). Upright cards are denoted by their yellow background and are usually the “good guy” cards, whereas the reverse cards are the “bad guy” cards and have a purple background. Click on the keyblade to find out more about the EX Bonus. Starlight’s is a Upright-Upright-Reverse EX Bonus, so if you get two uprights and a reverse - in that order - you’ll get a 3.0 multiplier on the current cards you are using to attack with on the Raid Boss. This effect does not work on field enemies. Alright, that’s nice and cheery, but how do I level up my keyblade? Well, if you take a look at the original picture, you’ll see on the right a list of items that you need. If you gather all those items and click the (currently shaded out) red button, you can level your keyblade up! Keyblades have a maximum level of 40, so keep trekking onwards and upwards! (I suggest using KHInsider’s Item Location Sticky by QuintusKing if you can’t find an item) This is what the Keyblade looks like when it is ready to synthesize: See how the red button is no longer shaded out? You can click on it to synthesize the keyblade. It’ll give you a prompt (see below), and to synthesize, click on the left option: “はい" GRADE UP! Click OK to exit the prompt. Events: So, you may be wondering why there’s a little Christmas tree or other icon at the bottom of your screen. This is a limited-event that you can get special and rare rewards from! If you click on your event icon, you’ll come to a page like this: This is an overview of your overall event ranking. Next to each picture of the heartless is its name (in Japanese) and then on the far right is a number. This is the number of that hearless you’ve killed. Taking mine for example, the first enemy, the “Gift Shadow” (ギフトシャドウ), I’ve defeated 73 of them. Now, if we click the tab that has the Gift Shadow’s icon, we come to the rankings for the Gift Shadow specifically. I’m in 5390th place (as you can see, my name is highlighted). But, wait, according to the first screen, I had 73 defeated???? What gives???? Well, these specific rankings are updated every four hours. As you can see on the bottom, there’s some Japanese and then a date and time (2014/12/13 01:30) and then another date and time (2014/12/13 05:30). The first date was when the rankings were last updated (so 1:30 Japan Standard Time, or JST). The second date will be when the rankings will be updated. (so 5:30 JST). At that time, the additional Gift Shadow heartless that I defeat will be added to the 20, bringing my total to 73 Gift Shadows defeated! In addition, some events have draws or trade-ins as well. There will be a tab that says ドロー. Click that tab to access the draw menu. Moogle Stamp: This little icon pops up every day that you log in. If you click the “スタンプを押してもらう” there’ll be a spinner that goes off where the “?” is (at the bottom of the stamp card). Each picture on the stamp board correlates to one of the icons on the board. Your job, much like bingo, is to get a line. After 3 lines are formed on the board, the moogle stamp will reset (it’ll say something like “Board Complete!”). If you see right above the moogle’s head, there’s a “Special Bonus.” Every 9 days that you login, the game will give you a special login bonus (in this case, Fairy Godmother R+, 5 Potions, and 15 ethers). You can see how many days you have left with the number above the moogle’s pom-pon (which, for me, is 9). I claimed my login bonus yesterday, so I have another 9 days to go before I can get my prize (you get it on the zeroth day). Click “OK” to claim your rewards on the zeroth day. Great, I’ve learned about all these things that I can do… but when do I get to fight stuff????? Item collection/field stuff: Enemy conflict: If you hover over an enemy with your mouse/pointer for a moment, its info will come up to the side of it. It’ll tell you (from top to bottom): level of enemy, name of enemy (in Japanese), and, finally, the AP required to attack it. Click the red dot on the heartless’s body to begin conflict with it! The game will reduce your AP by the amount that the heartless needs to be attacked. As you can see,my AP reduced from 15 to 9. You’ll then attack it and then it’ll attack you (unless you’ve already beaten it). This’ll keep going until a) you’ve beaten it, b) you run out of turns, or c) it beats you. After “a,” you receive LUX, EXP, and Munny for beating it. After “b” and “c,” you’re given the option to “continue,” as seen below. You can either choose to continue (コンテイニュー) or to give up and leave the battle (あきらめる). Choosing “continue” decreases your AP by the amount that was initially needed to challenge the heartless to a battle (NOTE: for most, if not all, storyline bosses and enemies, this cost has been reduced to 1). This cycle continues until a) you beat the heartless or b) you run out of AP. See below. It is at this point when you click continue that the game will tell you that you do not have adequate AP to challenge this heartless, and then asks you if you would like to refill your AP bar. Clicking “はい” will take you to your potions menu, where you can click “使う” (use) to refill your AP gauge. 1 potion will recover 10 AP; a megapotion will recover all of your AP (however, Megapotions are quite rare for the non-paying player so I’d suggest saving them unless you desperately need to use one). Also, waiting 3 minutes will recover your AP by 1 (so in an hour, you will recover 20 AP). Also something to note. There are enemies (see below) that have a red triangle with a yellow exclamation above their heads. This denotes that they are a strong enemy (lv. 444+). Attack them with caution! See the triangle? It’s a dangerous enemy so proceed with caution! Item Collection: Again, hovering over an item with the mouse will give its name and the AP cost that you need to use to pick it up (all items cost 1 AP though, except certain “items” in Wonderland are free to “pick up”). Items are identified by their shiny spots on the ground. They can either be white or green (green items are storyline specific and you cannot keep them). When you click on an item, you’ll tap the spot with your keyblade and one to three of the items will pop out of the ground (see screenshot below). When there is a Keyblade Strengthening campaign, the item gets a +1 boost. Item GET! Treasure Chests: Like items, Treasure chests are other interactable items in the game. They cost 3 AP to open. When you open a treasure chest, one of two things could happen: MOOGLE! This is known as the Moogle Shop; it’s basically the Assist card variant of the Raise Draw. As you can see in the screenshot, there are three options: trade in 1 Kupo Nut for one card, trade in 3 Kupo nuts for 5 cards or exchange an unlimited amount of Kupo Boring Nuts for an N+ card. Generally you want to just go for the unlimited N/N+ card, but if you have a lot of Kupo Fruits and it’s the right time, you may want to choose the second option. See, the Kupo Nut Trade lasts for three or so weeks, and each time there’s a change to the roster of cards being distributed, there’s a campaign to get you to open treasure chests and get the new cards. As such, the 3 for 5, with its guaranteed R+, is changed to a guaranteed SR (which is boosted, most likely by 2.0). Every once in 5 exchanges or so, you’ll get a SR+ (with the SR guarantee), which is normally 3 to 4 times boosted! However, to get these special cards, you’ll need to trade in 3 Kupo Nuts, which are difficult to get for non-paying players. So use your Kupo Nuts accordingly. Alternatively, you could just get an N/N+ card. It’s about a 50/50 chance of both. Chat norms/Common phrases: As you may know, since Chi is Japan-exclusive, many of the players speak Japanese. If you wanna join a group with your friends, do boss raids, and chat, then you should join the union your friends are in. The only real difference, stoy-wise, between the unions is the Union that Ephemera is in. It's mostly an aesthetic difference, but you must be in the same union as your friends to play and party with them.
