My dad didn't want me to spend money on him because after my 20 year old sister passed away in 2013, there just weren't anymore happy father's days. My parents are divorced and I stay with my mom while dad lives very far away, but we still have a good father/son relationship. Funny this day was supposed to be day about fathers but my and I spend Father's Day going to the movies and watch Inside Out. His NBA team (or really all of ours) won the championship on Tuesday, and he had casually mentioned to me after the game that he wanted their championship t-shirt so that's exactly what we got him, along with a card and cake, because who doesn't love cake?
