Sonic Boom 2: Fire & Ice

When I first saw this I thought it was some fake render on my tumblr. Then I found out it was real and I laughed so hard I cried.

 

Though I am fairly interested. Shattered Crystal was okay. It's downside was the backtracking and tedious, long levels. The official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter account seem pretty confident in 'Fire & Ice' though and are replying to lots of tweets with jokes here and there.

 

It has the same development team as Shattered Crystal so hopefully they are working to improve on it's faults for the sequel. I think it was definitely better to have a 3DS sequel than a Wii U one and I'm curious to see how this goes. It seems to be taking more from the tv show which gives me more hope.

 

I want to see where this goes and how far they can take Sonic Boom as a whole. Just because the first 2 games were medicore at best doesn't mean this has to be the same.

 

Or maybe I'm just too optimistic

I am currently enjoying the tv show and the comics (even though the last issue is upon us.) so Sonic Boom hasn't been a complete failure in my eyes. (The name 'Fire & Ice' bugs me though. I don't know why and it really bothers me. Ughhh  )

 

Yeah, it's easy to forget that Sonic Boom isn't just a couple of poorly received video games; from what I understand (and the little I've seen/read) the cartoon and comics are pretty good, and I know that if I were 10 years old again, Sonic Boom is exactly the kind of stuff I'd be into.

Wow they're actually making a sequel to the first game (3DS version)? That's...surprising since the first one wasn't very well-received by both fans and critics. The levels were far too long and there was so much backtracking. I really do hope that they fix their mistakes from the first game and improve from them in this new game. Also, Amy should have been playable in the first game as well.

I honestly I didn't find Shattered Crystal that bad. I didn't go in with any high expectations but it was boring and tedious. I've seen much worse though like Sonic 06 and RoL which weren't even finished.

 

I think they could fix the faults of Crystal and by the looks of the Sonic Twitter account they do know about the complaints for it. But that's a maybe. Maybe they will make a better game with improvements and maybe they won't. 

I'm interested to see what they bring to the table but I don't think it will a lot different.

Yeah. I didn't have hogh expectations for both the 3DS and Wii U versions od Sonic Boom either. But, like you, I also hope that they improve the gameplay from Shattered Crystal. I mean SHattered Crystal was better than Rise of Lyric because it at least had gameplay from the old Sonic games (Sonic 1,2, 3&Knuckles) but it still had its share of problems like I pointed out earlier. I do hope that this game doesn't have insanely long levels like SC does.

Yup fully agree with you. I'll wait for reviews of the game though and maybe pick it up cheap somewhere unless it's a lot better. I hope it is. I just want the Sonic Boom franchise to have one good/decent game. Just one please SEGA?

Boom on TV is basically a generic kid's show that happens to have Sonic characters. It's harmless, and sometimes funny, but completely uninspired. From what I've heard the comics are actually hilarious though
