Extremely worried about FFXV now

Recommended Posts

XIII was great, but it's nothing like XV.

I'd be worried if Nomura was still in-charge, he wasn't getting anything done.

FFXV is going to be perfectly fine.

Yeah, linear hallways, unlikable cast (except for Sazh), and an automated battle system are totally what made the game great. The game got a lot of backlash from fans and critics a like. Heck, not much FF fans don't even like the entire FF XIII series except for a few people who are more than likely hardcore FF fans.

As for this post, after playing the FF XV demo I'm not as hyped for the game gameplay-wise. The gameplay felt a bit clunky and not as fun as I hoped it would be. I hope they change that in the full game.

83 on metacritic and 6.6 million copies sold on PS3/360 alone. Mahahahaha.

With what some people have said of it...I'm getting worried that it might not be as good as promised...I mean, with these people saying that it may be as bad as XIII, and with people saying that Tabata isn't in a good position, I'm scared.

you shouldn't base a game's quality on promises, or you'll be disappointed

FFXV will be as good as it could be under Tabata's vision, but it's not like it can live up to the standards of a game that has about a decade of development behind it

Out of sheer hype though xD.

pretty lucky that literally every reviewer gave the game a high score because of hype alone

Under that analysis every big game ever only sells well under sheer hype.

Yeah but the reason why FF XIII even sold that much was because back then we didn't have a main titled FF game in a long while. And the trailers/early gameplay had supposedly promised us that we would get another FF game with all the core elements. But instead, we were left disappointed when the final product came out.

You keep saying things like "we" and "FF fans", as though you're speaking for everyone.

Where are you getting all this negativity from? The vast majority of people that have played the demo loved it, but think it needs to be tweaked. FFXV is completely fine.

If you see a lot of hate, it's the vocal minority. People that are turn based purists hate on it quite a lot, too.

the demo is hardly indicative of what the full game will be like

True, but if it's decent like most people believe, there's more reason to be positive rather than negative.

if Square released a demo of FF13 at the point where the combat gets hectic, people would have a positive impression too, it's just that that part is locked behind about thirty hours of game time, and most of that is cutscenes

Don't concern yourself with what "some people have said of it". There will always be people who speak poorly about something. Play it yourself, and formulate your own opinion.

that's not really a good policy

if you play it yourself, sure you form your own opinion, but if it's a negative one you just wasted 60 bucks

by listening to what other people say, you can save yourself from bad purchasing decisions

Whoa there buddy that's your opinion and that's fine

but Final Fantasy XIII is like the Sonic Boom of the FF franchise

Sonic Boom didn't get 83 on metacritic and 6.6 million copies sold on it's initial consoles, and is continually being ported to other major platforms.

yeah, but that right there shows a problem with the Final Fantasy franchise

they act like ff13 or even ff8 are anywhere near the level of sonic 06 or sonic boom, and get just as mad as sonic fans

like I've said before, the final fantasy fanbase is like the sonic fanbase but without the justification

I've got nothing to worry about FFXV.

  • The gameplay could use work, but remember: this is a 4 hour taste of a low-level Noctis and party. The final game being different would be natural

  • The party members (especially with 2.0's update) seem to talk a lot more, and the Xenoblade-like "Heart-to-Heart" sidequests are a nice aside and make the characters more likeable, you know to counter some previous concerns (*coughboybandbullshitcough*) [i hope they do this with guest characters like Cor or Luna, if she joins at any point in the story]

  • Final Fantasy XV and Xenoblade Chronicles X have been increasing hype and awareness of each, so sales aren't a concern.

  • Tabata-san is a good director. He listens to fans and directed one of my favorite JRPGs of all time.
  • We've seen fast-paced and aerial gameplay in previous builds of the game. To not add them would be foolish of SE.

You're scared just 'cause some people said the demo was bad?  Have you not seen it/played it?

They accomplished the one thing that all other FFs have always failed to do: make Ramuh cool.

They did it, and they did it well.

P.S: FFVIII was a hot mess.
