Veemon 1,540 Posted May 26, 2015 I remembered the moment when Sora jumped out that window and left his parents to get swallowed by the darkness. I was shocked by the fact that he did that. Sure, most of the series shouldn't have to do with Sora's life back on Destiny Islands, but the fact that all he cared about after he got sent to Traverse Town was finding Riku and Kairi, I was kinda mad at Sora for not caring about his parents at all during his journey. He might've explained his journey to his parents when he got back to the Islands at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, but we cannot guarantee that he did. Who are Sora's parents? And better yet, will they make their appearance in KH3? 2 The Transcendent Key and Exiblade7 reacted to this

What if his parents died a long time ago (after BBS) and the woman we heard was someone watching over him. If that were the case then that would explain why Sora never cared about what happened to her. DUHN! DUHN! Veemon 1,540 Posted May 26, 2015 But then that would also mean that Riku and Kairi's parents died as well because neither of them mentioned anything about caring about their parents either. It's almost as if everyone in KH's parents died and it's all just the kids, living with strangers now. •_•

HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) They didn't die - the world was cast into darkness and all it's inhabitants fell into sleep until Sora restored the worlds. Then all of Sora's friends and family's memories were erased bc of the events in CoM. Once Namine restored Sora everyone tied to Sora regained their memories of him also. Kairi was pretty much parentless when she arrived in DI..The mayor was raising her at the time. I'm sure after KH2 they talked to their family. After all, they were home for a few months before the events of DDD. SorRik 186 Posted May 26, 2015 Well the parents are only minor character only Sora's mom was the one who call him to eat dinner. And Riku mentions Sora's dad. They really didn't make a major thing about their parents. Only thing is, the major is about friendship in this game. 1 Blooming Marluxia reacted to this

Any people that lost their hearts when the Heartless appeared would logically still be missing their hearts. Theoretically Riku has actual blood on his hands. HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) That's not necessarily true. Any people that lost their hearts when the Heartless appeared would logically still be missing their hearts. Theoretically Riku has actual blood on his hands. That's assuming his parents lost their hearts to heartless.I was just referring to what happened when the world fell into darkness/sleep.. Sure if someone lost their heart to heartless that's a different story ( even then they could end up recompleted eventually) I'm talking about Nomura's own explanation in the Directors Report XIII : Finally, about the people on Destiny Island, at the time of Sora and groups disappearance, on the night of the storm from the previous game, Destiny Island itself ended up disappearing and for the people of that world time is stopped. Afterwards, Sora slept for 1 year, and then everyone's memories of Sora himself were no longer there. As such the memory actually became "On the night of the storm, Riku's body disappeared". Once Sora awoke, the memories of him returned. Eventually the memories of Sora, just as Riku was no longer there after the storm that night, were that both of them had disappeared. (footnote: However, Kairi alone was once assimilated into Sora's heart. In this edition "Kingdom Hearts II" I strongly feel that he was influenced by this. "I remembered the moment when Sora jumped out that window and left his parents to get swallowed by the darkness " I was under the impression he ( the OP) was thinking that everyone just died instantly bc the world fell to darkness which isn't quite the case. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted June 6, 2015 Lol, everyone's parents have eluded us since the very beginning! You'll see...Sora and Riku's parents are probably Seekers Of Darkness, along with Kairi's Grandma! Anyways though, on topic, it's just as many here have said. This series focuses more on friendship than on family. Sure, it's a bit ridiculous that we get little to nothing regarding parents, and the only parents we hear about are Sora's, and that's saying a lot! But hey, if there's a chance that the world of Destiny Islands, beyond the island where Sora, Riku and Kairi would play, is able to be explored, then we'll no doubt see the characters parents! MAtgS 70 Posted June 6, 2015 This series has been about friendship, not family. It's just not an important detail to address in game I guess although the fans love to bring it up. (That and his uneaten dinner) We might see them in KH3 but it's not really pertinent considering what else is going on tbh. Taking 5 minutes to deal with them isn't going to destroy the central theme of a 30 hour game.

Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted June 12, 2015 There seems to be a point in time where friends are more important than your families. I guess Sora and Riku must be at that age. : P But no, really, I've wondered about this, too, but it seems that the game just places a great emphasis on friends and the deep connection that they share. It's kind of neat in a way because it can address those who don't have families and that you don't need them to have close relations. I don't know, there's multiple ways to look at it, but it was never a very big deal to me (I was more bothered by the fact that the characters didn't change their clothes more often. : P). 3 Klimparer, Riosephmido and Veemon reacted to this

It was mainly to understand what on earth was going on in the Pride lands. This might be the only parenthood importance in the entire series other than 101 Dalmatians.
