The shattering glass...quite honestly made her snap. Climbing out her window, she saw Maverick standing there momentarily, grinning like an absolute lunatic. She threw herself into a sprint, coverint he distance in seconds. If there was one thing Aeria could do, it was run. And run she did...into a stop-transition-Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to Maverick's smug face, sending him to the ground as her blow struck his face right on. She ended in a combat stance, retreating just out of Maverick's striking range as Elysia came out, not even in pants but holding her gun.

 

-Light-

 

Elysia heard the crash and looked outside...to see her daughter take down Maverick. Elysia could not have been a prouder mother than right then. She had taught Aeria a lot of self defense moves after her attempted suicide...and now here she was, beating the absolute shit out of her worst nightmare...on her birthday.

She ran outside with her gun and handcuffs though, and advanced.

"Sweetie, I can guess -"

"He broke into my room. I opened the window to tell him go away and he entered and grabbed me. He wanted me to go with him. He said I was a mistake, I shouldn't have been born. Maybe he's right." She then stomped Maverick's crotch as hard as she could. "But I swear to God Maverick, if you ever say you matter to me again, I promise you. I will make sure you regret being born. I will make sure you beg God that you were aborted in the womb, because when I'm done with you...oh, when i'm done Maverick, there won't be enough left for a teaspoon."

 

Elysia was unsure of where this defiance, this fire came from...but damn she had to admit her daughter had it in her...she just needed a push.

 

She walked over and rolled Maverick over, handcuffing him. "Mavierick whatever the firetruck your last name is, you are under arrest for breaking and entering, assault, and vandalism. You have the right to remain silent. So shut the hell up."

 

She dragged him to his feet. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. Seeing as you're a worthless piece of shit, you can't afford one, so we'll try and find a lawyer who will put up with your particular breed of bullshit." She dragged his ass to her car, not even caring she was almost naked. "If you understand these rights, you may retain your God given right to be a jerk and stay silent. Any quips will be considered threats against a Federal Officer, and if you ever speak to my daughter again you'll miss Juvie and go to jail, where I will do my utmost to make sure your soap is dropped."

 

She quite handedly threw his punk ass in the back of her car, after Aeria retrieved her keys. Leaving Aeria to clean up, Elysia drove to the Sheriff's Office, quite honestly so firetrucking happy she turned on the radio, and began singing, quite beautifully, You Give Love, a Bad Name by the one, the only, Jon Bon Jovi.

(Terrence is not currently available at the Sheriff's Office to jail Maverick... Perhaps take him to an FBI holding area after finding that out?)

"Flint..." Terrence said to himself as he climbed back into his car. His clothing was rumpled and he smelled, courtesy of having not showered in a day and not changed out of his clothes. "I don't know where Flint lives. Could you maybe check that lead for me? I need to go home and clean up a bit before doing any actual business. I'll meet you there after I'm done." Terrence asked Sophia as he drove away from the parking lot and headed back towards his home near the shore.

 

<Terra>

"My name's not Branford..." Tina trailed off in a bit of confusion before amending her statement. "Thank you for your business." The Innkeeper called to the journalist as she went up the stairs. She glanced back down to her phone.

"Ok, come back whenever you guys are done. There's a journalist here that wants to talk to Zach." She texted back before her door busted open again. Tina looked up with a start, surprised to see yet another stranger. So many customers in such little time... Something felt a little bit off. "Oh yes, your sister told us you'd be coming. She's in room 204." The Innkeeper started cordially. "But, I must ask one thing first. She said that you would have payment for the room." Tina asked him for the money. This was a business after all.

 

*Yuffie*

Amber glanced up towards Zach with a smile. "Sorry, it was just Tina. She said we had another customer. A journalist that wanted to talk to you." Amber moved back towards her companion. "I wonder why, it's not like your interesting or anything." The youth teased with a giggle.

Sid, seemingly unphased by Rachel's enthusiastic greeting, disengaged his hand from her's, then squatted down to look under Rachel's car. He whistled at the damage he could see. Whatever had happened messed up the car bad.

"Maybe, I won't know till I start work on her." He admitted.

He started hooking up the Corolla to his tow truck. He inwardly grimaced at Rachel's request for a ride. Yeah, sometimes a client need some extra help, but with the side project for Kieven and hiring Tiffany, he wasn't sure he had time for some light taxiing.

"I'm not sure if I can be of help there, Miss Norman." He said honestly as he finished securing the car. "I'll be training a new assistant, there are a couple of cars already in the shop."

He stopped and rubbed the back of his head.

"How far is your work?" He finally asked.

He then stuck out his hand to Rachel.

"I will need your keys, please."

He blinked, surprised at Tina's words.  Finally it seemed that her request finally registered, as the tall man began fumbling in his pockets.  "Oh, yes, money . . . ."  A frown creased his brow.  He pulled out a credit card--a company credit card, at that--with the name "Nora Enterprises" written across it.  "Charge whatever there may be on it, but please make it quick, I must see her, and soon.  You wouldn't understand."

 

Truth be told, the man was probably baffling poor Tina all too much with his urgency and riddle talk.  However, he was desperate to get to Yeul, and quickly, because he feared that they may already be too late to stop a catastrophe from ensuing.

 

-Vanille-

A pout escaped Rachel's lips momentarily before she put her hands on her hips and sighed.  "It's okay, Sid.  I understand.  Business is business, and I know you have a lot to take care of right now.  My office is about ten minutes from here, but it's okay; if you can just get me back to your shop I'll start calling around for a ride.  I'm sure that someone can help me."

 

Without awaiting a response from the mechanic--as if assuming it would be fine and dandy--the redhead dropped her keys into Sid's outstretched hand, strolled over to the passenger door of the tow truck and pulled.  She let out a small growl as she fought with the door, and finally managed to tug it from its latch and bounced on in.  Once inside the truck she immediately dialed Johnny's number, hoping that the carpenter could help.

 

-Sora-

As the brown-haired youth played video games and pressed his worries to the corners of his mind, he noticed the living room window grow rather dark.  This caught his attention, causing him to steal a glance away from the television set at toward the source.  His eyes grew wide as a tiny yelp escaped him.  Outside the window were Shadows: dark, tiny creatures that were pure darkness incarnate.  They pressed their faces and hands against the glass windowpane, their eyes a neon yellow.  Immediately Sora recognized them: he'd seen them swarming the dungeons where Ultimecia held him captive.  "Sophia!" he shouted, making a mad dash down the hall.  Finally he made it to her door, pounding on it loudly before finally bursting forth.  He hated to intrude on her like this, but he was getting downright creeped out by what he saw.  He could only hope that she believed him--or could see it, too.

 

"S--Sophia," he panted, breathless, "It's her--it's them!  She's at it again!"

 

-Vanitas-

Before the delinquent knew what hit him, Aeria had knocked him silly before Elysia just threw him in the back of her car.  Now he was on his way to the Sheriff's station.  Again.  It wasn't the first time that Maverick had been arrested; this was nothing new to him.  He threw his head back and eyed the ceiling of the car, closing his eyes in pain.  It was starting to ease up now, but man!  Where did Aeria learn to stand up for herself like that?  He didn't think the naive little girl would ever develop a backbone of her own, let alone like that.  "She's gonna learn," Maverick muttered under his breath, "that she can't just rely on mommy's help for everything.  And then, in a louder tone, he stated in Elysia's direction, "Y'know, I kept quiet about the other night when you just attacked me in the alleyway.  I don't think that would look too good on your service-cop-FBI record, now, would it?  Maybe if you cut me some slack I won't have to open my mouth about it, ya think?"

 

Of course, Maverick was really treading on some dangerous ground now, and he couldn't help but wince when they arrived at the sheriff's station, thinking that she was already livid with him.

 

-Kefka- (this is after Tina is through dealing with Caius)

It had been a while since he'd stopped in to see her.  He only hoped that she would understand.  They had been friends for a while; sometimes he wondered if it were perhaps more than friends. It was always hard to tell with her.  Prioritizing what was important wasn't exactly Kievan's strong point, and often times he'd dedicated far too much of himself to his research or teaching than he should've.  He already had no friends in that town except her, and he didn't want to lose it.

 

After classes he spent no time grading papers and no time in his study.  He even resisted dialing Sid's number for a status update on the mech they'd found by the beach.  Instead he hopped into his car, picked up a single white rose, and drove straight for Narshe B&B.  He smoothed back his golden blond hair as he entered, smiling when he met the eye of his one true friend.

 

"Tina," Kievan said, voice soft as he approached the counter.  "It has been far too long.  How are you?  I cannot apologize enough for not coming by more.  Demands of the school, you see."  He extended the rose out to her, bowing slightly as he did so.  "What say you that I try to make up for my prolonged absence?  May I steal the innkeeper for dinner tonight?"

Lukas was extremely tired now, feeling the crash from the sudden burst of energy. Luckily his hangover was basically over, but he still needed the necklace. He was about to just see about getting a different gift before Tyro came. Lukas instantly got up.

"Hey! I really need-" Tyro suddenly fell to his knees. What was this? Lukas looked inside to see... The store trashed. It completely shocked him. The store wasn't trashed a second ago! Actually... When Lukas walked in the room didn't look like it at all. It was an entirely different room and Lukas didn't even realize it. Just a second ago, the room was all white with all white furnature. He didn't realize it looking so different... Because the room was so familiar... Like he belonged there.

"W-Wait- I- I didn't do that!" Lukas claimed before putting his hands on Tyro's shoulders. "I'm so sorry! I'll help you clean everything up right away!"

(Just so people won't get confused; Roxas hallucinated Tyro's shop looking like Naminé's room/a room from Castle Oblivion. He didn't realize it was different or said anything because he felt like he belonged there/it was natural. I know it's weird and it doesn't make sense but nothinginlifemakessenseimgonnashutupnow)

 

-Aqua-

Sophia sighed softly and rubbed the back of her head. Could she really look into the lead? She had Sora to worry about. "I'm sorry, but I don't think I can... I have a lot of-" Suddenly, she heard banging on the door and Sora's frantic voice. Instantly she reached for a pistol that was in her nightstand table as well as a knife that was under her mattress.

"Hey, I'm going to meet you at your house!" Sophia said, throwing on a pair of slippers. She was going to put on some actual pants and a bra instead of her pajama shorts and shirt, but honestly this was so much of an emergency. "I'll call you later, just please make sure you're at your house in the next ten minutes! I'll explain later but be careful." With that, she hung up and opened the door to see Sora's frantic expression.

"It's okay, I'm here." Sophia said with a frown. "I'll keep you safe." With that, she took Sora's wrist and began to head to the front door. There she saw... The creatures out of her window. She stood there in shock for a moment. What was... That? She shook the shock out of her mind, and began to take Sora out of the back door and into her car. Sherlotta followed right behind.

"Get in!" Sophia called, opening the door for Sora as she looked around to make sure the Shadows weren't there. Sherlotta jumped right into the car.

Tina took the card warily, and put it through the system. At least he had the money. The Innkeeper handed it back to the lavender haired man, attempting to read what he wanted. "Alright, there you go. She's checked into room 204. She hasn't left the building and hasn't come downstairs, so she is almost certainly still in her room." Tina said to him. "Thanks for your business." She called as he dashed up the stairs. The Innkeeper shook her head, baffled. She was granted still no reprieve as yet another person came in the door, though this was later in the day. Tina glanced to the entrance, and was about to give her usual opening speech, but then realized it was Kievan. She greeted him with a smile.

"Hello Kievan. It has been a very long time." She said with a nod. "I'm doing well, and my inn is doing better. We've received a new boost in business, three customers in a day and a half." Tina blushed a little bit as she took the rose from Kievan. "Oh thank you. I'd love to meet you somewhere, but I need Amber to come back. She's been out with Zach since last night. I'm sure they're alright, but I need someone to run the place."

 

_Terra_

"Sophia?" Terrence questioned, but it was too late. She had hung up. He shook his head, suddenly filled with concern for her. He'd follow her directions, but if she didn't make an appearance, he would check on her house. She had really sounded in danger, and with how busy things were getting around here... Terrence was more than a little worried. But he still drove to his home, and parked, quickly getting out. He waved to his neighbor, an elderly black military vet who ran a gun store. The man scowled at him, but Terrence smiled still. He opened his door, and once inside his home, got ready as quickly as possible.

Elysia slammed the breaks, making sure that Maverick was tossed about.

"The Sheriff isn't here, which means FBI detainment." She had noticed Terrence's car was missing. Driving on, she headed for the FBI Field office.

"And I'll take a court date over letting your bitch ass walk free. Not after what you've done to my daughter." She finally pulled up to the FBI office. Getting out, she dragged Maverick out as Ace and King came out.

"Boss?"

"Put him in a cell. Vandalism, breaking and entering, and assault on Aeria."

 

Ace winced. "Dude, you're so lucky. You could be dead right now." He told Maverick, as King gripped the teen's upper arm. He led him inside, as Elysia got back into her car.

"..." she picked up her phone and dialed Sophie. She might be willing to help in this situation...

 

-Seven-

 

Seraphim yawned as she walked in, then leaned on Sice, arms over her head.

"Sup newbie? Time to go, make sure the glorious town of Destiny Beach remains perfectly undestroyed."

-Caius and Yeul-

The lavender-haired man nodded in assent to Tina's words before snatching up the credit card and rushing toward the stairs.  He wasted no time in arriving to room 204, to which he drummed his fingers on the door.  As if she were waiting, the steel-haired young woman opened the door immediately, taking him in a moment before opening the door wider.  "You must've found it if you're here."

 

The man put a finger to his lips before entering her hotel room, closing the door behind him.  "You must be careful not to get detected, Yeul.  She is here, and if she finds you it is no question that she'd kill you upon sight."

 

A slight giggle escaped the young woman's lips as she grasped his hand, swinging on his arm lightly.  "But you wouldn't let her do that, now, would you?" she said, playfully.

 

Slightly irritable, Caius tugged his hand free, before finally shrugging and placing his hands on her small, frail shoulders.  "Of course I would never allow her to bring you harm, but we both know that I can only do so much.  I found what we're seeking, yes, in a pawn shop in town"--he withdrew the book that he'd snatched from Tyro's shop before handing it to the girl--"this should have the answers that we seek, but first you must get to Lightning.  As soon as Ultimecia realizes who you'd blessed with the powers of a savior she'll beeline it for her."

 

For a moment all that Yeul could do was trace her fingers along the worn leather cover of the book that Caius presented her.  Finally she nodded.  "Very well.  I shall go see her.  It is time that she learned the truth."

 

"That's if she believes you."

 

-Kefka-

A grin gripped the edges of his mouth upon Tina's blush.  He offered her a smile of his own before boldly brushing some of her locks from her forehead.  "Very well, let us wait until Amber arrives.  I do worry about how many hours you're putting into this inn, Tina.  This could really make you ill.  What you need is a larger staff, perhaps take a few more nights off every once in a while."  Kievan straightened, eyes skimming the walls of the cozy inn before fixating on Tina once more.  "If you'd like, I would happily try to find you some more help.  You need to take care of yourself, okay?"

 

As they spoke, the silver-haired journalist made her way down the stairs.  Her hair was pinned in a tight bun, making the contours of her face appear sharper and colder.  Her lips remained their ruby-red as they curved in a smile toward Tina.  "Hello again, Miss Branford.  Has the writer made his way in just yet?"

 

A frown seized Kievan's forehead, both upon the woman's appearance as well as her words.  "Miss Branford?  Who in the world are you referring to?"

 

 

-Sora-

The brunet wasted no time in obeying Sophia's command.  He scrambled into the car, attempting to shut the passenger door when the squeaky of something soft prevented the door from its closure.  Gasping, Sora stared in shock as one of the Shadows that he'd seen from Sophia's apartment attempted to scramble into the car.  Many other surrounded Sophia's vehicle, most of which stood their ground and swatting their dark claws at whatever they could grasp.  Sora landed a hard kick to the Shadow's face, allowing him just enough time to slam the door shut and turn a desperate glance to Sophia.

 

At least four Shadows currently surround Sophia where she stands.  One is attempting to swing on the car door, while another is swatting at her legs.

 

Meanwhile . . . .

Outside of Aron's apartment, Shadows attempted to make a break-in.  They squeezed their tiny forms through a crack in his kitchen window before materializing fully on his countertop.  At least three of them made their way into his apartment, wasting no time to trash the inside.  One knocked the dishes out of the sink and onto the floor, before darting out of the room and searching for survival.  Depending on where Aron is currently, he may detect this break-in around his apartment and the Shadows nearby.

 

-Vanitas-

The raven youth swallowed hard, his adam's apple bobbing on his throat.  Here he'd been looking for his chance to speak with Terrence.  While the man was the sheriff and no-nonsense, he didn't seem to hate him fervently as Elysia had.  The FBI head lead him into the station, where the squad was ready to throw him behind bars.  He shot Ace a pathetic look as King led him to his cell.

 

"Did it ever occur to you that Elysia might just be lying?" he shot to the guy in charge.  "She doesn't want me dating her daughter.  She's prejudice against me, and just the other night she attacked me in the street.  Want some proof?  Just check out my bruises."

Upon arriving home, Nicole felt an odd sensation overtake her. She could smell something strange, something she's never known before, and boy, did it reek! Nicole shoved her keys back into her pocket and got out of the car. The smell seemed distant. Maybe it was just something some contraction workers unearthed. No... this was different. Nicole again got in her car, rolled down the windows, and headed back into town.

 

~Tyro~

 

Emmet was very grateful for the help Lukas offered. The place was an absolute wreck, and some things were even shattered. No weapons were taken, thankfully. The Buster Sword and the Blazefire Sabe were still under the glass that protected them, and all other smaller weapons were still in the back, Emmet was sure.

 

After quite a long clean up, Lukas and Emmet managed to finish what was needed, and the necklace that Lukas wanted was presented.

 

"Now that everything is back in its place, I can look for signs of what was stole." Emmet said, handing Lukas his prize. "Thank you. Actually, just take this. You look like you need the money anyhow."

 

~Zidane Tribal~

 

Zachary smiled, rubbing the back of his head.

"You know how it is. Everyone in this town has an eye for me!" Zach strained his eyes towards Amber. "Anyways, it's this way!" He yelled, leading her away to a rocky section of the beach near a cliff.

"It takes a bit of climbing, but do you trust me?" He reached out his hand as he took a step onto the first rock.

-Seven-Seraphim rolled out of bed and hit the ground."Ow!""You okay?""Shh." She got up and stumbled into her bathroom as her companion decided to leave. Now alone, as was her usual requests, Seraphim splashed water on her face."Gah. I don't wanna work today. Lucky Elly, getting today off."

(wasn't Seven with Sice?){Balthier}(Heh, I had actually originally intended to bring Snow in as a passerby to offer Vanille a ride, but I couldn't make it feel organic that way. But this works.)Sid opened his mouth he could take Rachel to her work, but she had said she'd get another ride, handed over her keys, then got into the cab of the truck. "Hmm." He grunted, giving Rachel a long look. He then tossed the keys up and caught them on the way back down. Oh well. I job was a job. With Rachel's car in neutral, Sid began hooking it up to his truck to tow it.{Snow}Johnny lovingly blew away some saw dust and smiled at his latest project before he answered his ringing phone."Frost's Wood Shop." He greeted jovially. "No, I don't work with ice. How can I help?"It was then that he realized he should have checked caller id. Oh well.{Lumina}Eclair arrived at work and clocked in. She was still bothered about her meeting with Ultimecia, but it was fading. Things were fine and gonna stay fine. With her apron on and a smile on her face, she went out to take orders and serve drinks.{Rikku}Tiffany sat around in Sid's Garage for a bit before boredom took over. She went back into the office and found some old coveralls. They were a bit big for her, but she was use to that. She changed and was back out to check on the cars in the shop. She found one Sid hadn't started on, read some notes on it, then started working on it.

(Delinquent shadows, breaking into apartments, how dare they)

 

Aron was just outside his apartment door, he had forgotten the most important thing...his pocket watch, but much to his surprise, he heard strange noises from inside, in fact so strange that when he entered, noticing the shadows he quickly narrowed his eyes, "What." He said in a rather flat tone as the shadows began to run away, some going out of the window, "God dammit..." he muttered as he saw the shadow let the dish fall and run away, he promptly began to chase it.

 

"What the hell is going on..."

Sorryyyyy Aqua to the rescue!-Aqua-Sophia looked around at all the Shadows surrounding her. She shot at the ones going for the door, only to see them disappear in a small puff of smoke. Just what were they? Sophia couldn't waste anymore time. She had to get Sora to safety right away. With a small grunt as a Shadow swiped at her leg, she jumped over the hood of her car to instantly slide right into the passenger seat."Hold on!" Sophia called as she slammed on the gas pedal and zoomed out of there. She looked back to Sora with worry in her eyes."Sora, are you okay? Are you hurt?" She was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. Sophia picked it up instantly hoping no one else was going through the same predicament she was in."Hey, is everything okay?" Sophia asked immediately. She didn't want to right away just flat out say what was going on especially since the entire situation sounded absolutely nuts. "I'm... Driving right now. Sorry I didn't get to say happy birthday to your daughter yet. I wanted to drop off a little present for her later."-Roxas-Lukas meanwhile let out a loud sigh of exhaustion as he finished lifting up a heavy statue on top of a low shelf. The entire clean up took a bunch of energy he just didn't really have. Still, the place looked much better and Lukas was very happy that he got to help Tyro fix his place up."That's the last of it! This place doesn't look perfect but it's better than earlier." Lukas paused. Tryo was offering Lukas the necklace at no extra cost. He couldn't help but frown, for he didn't want to just outright take it."Are... Are you sure? I can pay the rest of it..." He said, rubbing the back of his head. "You just got your place ransacked..." Lukas thought about Aeria for a moment, and couldn't help but smile. "I... Thank you." Lukas said, accepting the necklace with a smile of gratitude. "You have no idea what this necklace means to me."

Elysia sighed.

"No that's okay...listen, Sophie. I did something bad out of pure anger, and now the boy who nearly made my Aeria commit suicide could go free despite maybe four or five chargers I'm going to levy against him once you two get back to office. I have him at the FBI...what the f-"

 

Shadows. A lot. She swerved and ran one over, but it was like a tide.

"Wh-What the firetruck are these? Wh- Shit!"

 

Her Charger hit a mound and went slightly airborne. It was worse due to the ditch, and the car hit the ground at an angle and ended it's journey slamming into a grove of trees.

 

Elysia hit her head, and everything went black, and her phone? Well, it was still on, miraculously.

 

-Seven-

 

She grabbed Sice's hand and pulled her into the car.

"Anyways, someone mentioned newcomers at the Inn that looked...weird. let's take a gander and make sure everything's okay, right partner?" She grinned.

Tina smiled at Kievan's concern. It was sweet, but she was far from worried. "It's alright Kievan, I've been able to handle it just fine. After all, most of the time it's just cleaning a room or two, cooking an occasional meal, and then sitting at this desk. Truly, I am not so fragile that labor like this would cause me ill." Her conversation with her friend was suddenly interrupted by the journalist who had come downstairs, and referred to her as Branford yet again. Kievan seemed most disturbed by this fact. And to be honest, she was too. "It's alright Kievan, I'm sure she just heard wrong from whichever travel website she used to find the inn. Miss, my name is Tina Brioche. You've lived here all your life right? Surely you know a lot about it."

Terrence threw his jacket over his shoulders, then grabbed his keys and phone from the kitchen counter. He finished off his coffee, and tossed the cup into his trash can. He glanced around the kitchen before finding the bag of bagels he had been looking for. He ate a bite of it before saving the rest, then made his way outside. The Sheriff stood outside on his porch, and awaited Sophia to arrive.

 

*Yuffie*

"What kind of question is that?" Amber laughed as she latched onto his hand, and joined him on the climb. "You know that I trust far too easily. Tina always says that I'll get into trouble with an attitude like that eventually, but I can't help it. People are just too nice to not trust." She said, moving up the rocks with Zach by her side very easily. Amber was quite proud of her athlete's body, and was glad that it came in handy so often. It felt good to be healthy too.

The moment Johnny stopped speaking the redhead let it all out in a jumbled run-on sentence.  "Oh, Johnny, it's me, and I really need your help right now, because my car broke down in the middle of the road and Sid's towing it and I have to get to work in an hour because there's a surgery for a poor little kitty that I need to be there for and I can't miss it and, oh, Johnny, I really need your help and I'm going to be at Sid's garage"--she straightened in her seat and brushed a few stray locks of hair out of her face--"can you drop me off at work?"

 

Rachel didn't even notice Sid as he attached and adjusted her car to the back of his tow truck, nor his reaction to her.  The vet was simply frantic and frazzled, hoping that at least Johnny could come to the rescue for her.  She'd always considered him a good friend and figured that he'd be able to buy the time.

 

-Locke-

Work was long and dull, with hardly any customers entering Gamestop.  These kinds of days were always longer for Skylar because he had little to do except sort shelves for the umpteenth time and keep their records and revenue goals up-to-date.  Finally his relief arrived, however, allowing him to hop in his little blue corolla and blast his music to its highest volume.  He wasn't sure what he wanted to do with the rest of his day.  There wasn't a lot to do.  He worried about Aeria, wondering if she was truly offended by his words the evening before, and also wondered how Sophia was doing taking care of the breakout kid.  First and foremost, though, he was going to tend to his stomach, and perhaps pester and bug Eclair as he usually did.  She was a great buddy and she always got him out of financial straits, plus he really wouldn't have minded at all if she snagged his offer and agreed to a date.

 

As he drove down the street and drummed his thumbs on his steering wheel, tire skids on the side of the road leading down a ditch caught his attention.  A frown furrowed his brows as he surveyed it, fearing the worst for the driver, but he knew better than to check it out himself.  It was probably nothing, and if it was something the police were probably already onto it.

 

-Kefka and Ultimecia-

Kievan again frowned upon Tina's reassuring response.  While he was gladdened that she was taking the workload well, he still hated that she worked so much.  He patted her hand.  "I don't doubt that you can handle it, and forgive me if it seemed I questioned your strength.  It's just that I would love to see you enjoy the sunshine more and get some more time off.  You deserve it, you know."

 

After Ultimecia had arrived, however, both his tone and demeanor changed.  The softness in his eyes hardened as he straightened, looking though as if he were ready to bite and pounce if it required it.  The journalist, however, waved her hand casually and laughed at Tina's response.  "Oh, silly me.  Miss Brioche; of course.  I don't know why I have Branford stuck in my head, or . . . do I?"--she shot a glance at Kievan, and for a moment their eyes locked--"do you recognize the name, er, Kievan, was it?"

 

"Mr. Jones," Kievan retorted stiffly.  "I am a science teacher at the school.  And I don't know why I should recognize the name Branford."  Truthfully, however, he did, and he couldn't quite place why he felt sickened at the simple recollection of it.  He also didn't know why he felt so wary around this journalist.  Surely she meant well, but it was as if . . . .  No, it couldn't be.  There was no way that he knew her, much less her being the sadist and murderess from his dreams.

 

Tina seemed to be her pacifist self, as always, and tried to calmly introduce the two, asking Kievan if he'd been there all his life.  A puzzled expression crossed Kievan's face as he attempted to formulate a response.  "Well, yes . . . .  I have been here for the majority of my life, but I can't say that anything has ever changed about it.  It's always the same thing, with some crime here and there, as well as break-ins.  Now, if you don't mind my asking,  who are you, Madam Journalist?"  There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice, but this was nothing new; Kievan was almost always this way, especially when he was being defensive.

 

"Oh, forgive me, Mr. Jones, how rude of me"--she extended a hand to shake his, to which he didn't acknowledge immediately--"My name is Scarlett Fleur.  It is a pleasure, but I must be going now.  I've heard tell of this amazing diner and I simply must check it out over dinner.  I'm hoping that someone would be able to share some of their experiences here.  It is such a quaint little town and I can't wait to get this in to the publisher.  Say, can we meet later, just us two?"

 

Kievan merely gave her a dismissive nod, to which Ultimecia beamed before started heading out the door.

 

-Yeul-

The slender figure of the teenage girl trekked along the sidewalk of Destiny Beach's Main St.  The sun was beginning to set, making it a bit more difficult to spot her dressed in a casual hoodie and jeans.  Her seeress abilities did not work in this world, sadly, but she hoped that it still wouldn't be difficult to spot the famous Elysia Tonnerre eventually.  The town was small, and she knew that Elysia was a member of the FBI.  She'd been strolling for nearly an hour, however, and was beginning to get disheartened when Elysia was no where in sight.

 

Just as she busily surveyed traffic and was in awe as she watched a motorcycle speed down the road, she noticed tire treads leading off the street and into the ditch she walked alongside.  She squinted, trying to make out what laid ahead.  Trees, perhaps a small forest, and . . . a government vehicle smashed into one.  Concern filled the Seeress's eyes as she scampered down the ditch and began examining the incident.

 

"Hello?  Can you hear me?" she called, voice soft yet perfectly clear.  A gasp escaped her when she saw the rose-haired FBI agent, unconscious, in the vehicle with her head against the steering wheel.  Yeul could recognize that mess of hair anywhere; she was certain it was her.  "Oh, no, this cannot be . . . .  Lightning, you have to be okay!"  She ran over to the car door and began instantly tugging on it, hoping to get to the woman to help her.

 

-Sora-

Panting, the brunet nodded in response to Sophia's question.  "Yeah, I'm fine, but what the heck was that just now?"  He pressed his nose against the passenger window, eyeing the Shadows as they grew faint and small in the distance.  Things were getting very strange, but he was certain that they were connected to Ultimecia.  He glanced back over to Sophia when he heard her speak, only to discover that she wasn't speaking to him.  At that moment he was very gladdened that he chose to stay with Sophia in comparison to the rest.  He felt safe and secure when he was around her and, even though she was too young to be his mom, she seemed like a loving elder sister that he felt secure around.  Leaning back in his seat, Sora propped his chin in a hand, watching the shapes change outside the window and wonder where Sophia was taking him.

 

In the back alleyway of town . . . .

The street was vacant, which wasn't untypical for a worn-out street with no businesses currently running.  Dust blew in the wind across the street, and above in the sky a swirl of dark blues and violets began to form.  It grew larger and more concentrated, until finally a dark form appeared from amidst the swirl.  At first it was deformed and looked like a blob, until its limbs became more defined.  Its muscles bulged, its wings magnified, and soon standing in the abandoned street was nothing but a mythical creature that hadn't once seen the coast of Florida before.  In the corner of the alleyway a tall figure came forth, hooded and mysterious.  "Wait until dusk," the figure said, voice deep.  "And then I want you to find the boy.  He's escaped, and he must be around here somewhere.  We need to find him before Ultimecia does, now go!"  With that, the dark demonic figure, also known as an Invincible, stretched, before flying off and disappearing into the distance.  For a moment the hooded man watched, his dark violet cloak billowing in the wind.  "I'm sorry . . . that I tapped into my own darkness like this," he murmured, clenching his fist.  "But I will do what I must.  I will not lose again."

 

In Auron's Apartment

The chased Shadow leapt onto the counter, desperate to get away from its pursuer.  It acted on instinct, not thought, and ducked inside a lamp before knocking it over with him.  The bulb shattered onto the ground, as did the lamp, before it scampered again once more.  It was the only one left within the apartment, and my was it wreaking havoc.  It started to head toward the utility closet, sliding under the door and hiding.  Should Aron proceed to follow it, he would encounter something that he probably didn't desire to meet.  Or, at least not on an average day like this.  The creature within the closet let out a low hiss, peeping through the crack in the linen closet and watching Aron with an amber eye.

The dank smell kept shifting from one area to the next. Nicole was getting restless, as as soon as she arrived to the source, it disappeared, and traveled eleswhere. Almost when she arrived, the smell appeared again. The apartment building! Nicole slammed shut her door, and ran inside. It didn't take her too long to get to where she thought the smell was coming from. With three knocks, Nicole took a breathe and cringed as the smell got stronger.

 

"Is anyone home?"

 

~Zidane~

 

Pulling the lady up, Zachary struggled to keep his balance. He pushed his foot down harder on one of the stone steps and kept up, finally reaching the top of where he wanted to be, with Amber closely following.

 

Peering into the small alcove, one could see a dip into the earth, and then a flattening. It was dark, but you could hardly make out a few boulders lying around inside.

 

"So, shall we?"

 

~Tyro~

 

"No problem! It's the least I could do with all that's going on." Emmet reached out to shake the boys hand, and then headed out to the back of the shop, where he and Lukas had stacked books properly. It didn't take long to realize what exactly was missing.

 

"It... can't...!" Emmet fidgetTed in place, feet growing weaker. "Doctor Mog... I'm sorry!" He pushed his way back outside to the streets, looking around for any tracks of any kind... but he was at a loss.

 

"I'm done for...!"

The hood was crumpled and steaming, but the car hit on the passenger side. Elysia was unconscious still, blood running down the side of her face. Out cold, her smooth, pale legs had a few bruises but miraculously the FBI agent had no worse injuries besides the hurt head. She slightly groaned the the driver-side door gave way from the damage, leaving Yeul to see that Elysia was barely wearing anything, had her gun on the floor next to her still-on phone...and quite possibly, could be in more danger than it appeared.

Sophia sighed softly as she heard Elysia's words. Sophia viewed Elysia as a sister and Aeira as a niece, so to hear such words brought pain to her heart.

"No, no..." Sophia said softly. "Don't worry about what you did. I'm sure that... Maverick deserved it. Terra- Terrence... And I have been trying to get him for weeks. But don't worry. I'll head right over after I pick up Terrence and we'll press charges right away. Just focus on making sure Aeria has a nice birthday today-" Sophia was going to continue, but all of a sudden Elysia screamed out and all she heard was a crash after that. Sophia's eyes widened, a sick feeling sinking into her stomach. The creatures reached Elysia. They had to.

"Elysia...? Elysia!" Sophia called into the phone. "Elysia!?" After minutes of her not answering, Sophia hissed and hung up the phone. She clutched it so tightly in her hand that it almost broke. She wanted to just turn around and go get her, but Sophia had no idea where the hell Elysia could be. She could be absolutely anywhere.

"This can't be happening..." Sophia whispered to herself as she forced herself to calm down. She just had to make it to Terrence. Sophia will just go get Terrence, pick him up and then they could go look for Elysia. After that Aeria would most likely be next. Sophia just hoped that the Shadows didn't attack anyone else in the town.

After a few more minutes, Sophia quickly pulled up in front of Terrence's home. Sophia smiled as she saw her partner on his pouch. She looked back to Sora with the same smile.

"That's my partner Terrence. He's very strong and kind, so don't be scared. We're going to protect you and fix all of this." She got out the car and waved to Terrence. "Hey! We gotta go!" She called.

Sherlotta meanwhile, hissed at the mere sight of Terrence. She didn't like him one bit. Sherlotta protectively sat on Sora's lap.

 

-Roxas-

Lukas meanwhile, was very happy to have finally got the necklace for Aeria. Hopefully he won't encounter his arch nemesis. He just couldn't wait to see Aeria.

"Thank you so much again... I'll stop by again later to help you out with the shop!" With that, Lukas was on his way. As he ran down the street, he ripped his phone out and sent a text to Aeria.

'Hey, A!' He wrote. 'Could ya meet me at the park near the old daycare? I want to show you something.' With a warm smile, he pressed send and waited for the response.

Susan wasn't use to this kind of interaction with people. She had expected the FBI office to be more professional. Maybe it was just Sera.

"Alright." Susan managed, buckling up in Sera's car. "What kind of 'weird' are we talking about?"

 

{Snow}

"You got it, Rachel." Johnny promised. "I'll met you at Sid's garage ASAP. See you then."

Hanging up, Johnny grabbed his keys from the hook he kept them on, locked up his shop and hopped in his Jeep. He was a little concerned that Sid was involved. He knew Sid from back when he was a deputy and while nothing had ever been pinned on the mechanic, Johnny was sure he had a laundry list of crimes was there to be found. Still, Sid hadn't been suspected of violent crimes, so Rachel should be save.

"That doesn't mean I have to trust the creep." Johnny thought as he pulled out on to the road, heading for Sid's Garage.

 

{Balthier}

Sid finished hooking up Rachel's car, then headed for the cab of his truck. He swung up into his seat with practiced ease and shit the door.

"Did you manage to get a ride?" He asked conversationally as he merged back into traffic to get the car back to the shop.

 

{Lumina & Serah}

Eclair was wiping up a table as Clara walked in.

"Hey, Eclair." Clara greeted.

The Waitress treated the teacher with a genuine grin.

"Well, well, look who's up?" She said. "Feeling better?"

"Much." Clara said, taking a seat at the bar. "I'm actually going back to work tomorrow."

"Awesome." Eclair said as she bustled behind the counter. "So, what'll you have?"

Clara thought for a moment.

"How about a simple omelette." She finally answered. "With some orange juice."

"You got it."

Tina waved as Scarlett departed. The woman still gave her chills, but still she smiled, before turning back to Kievan. She frowned slightly at him. "Come on Kievan, why do you have to be so hostile to everyone?" Tina asked, as if saddened by this. Honestly, she adored spending time with him, but he was so caustic sometimes. It certainly damaged his social reputation, and Tina being Tina, wanted Kievan to be better than that.

 

_Terra_

"Alright!" Terrence called, jogging down his driveway, and clambering into her car's passenger seat. He saw Sherlotta, and put his hand out for her to sniff. He knew she would likely bite or scratch him, but he couldn't help but try. After that he noticed the boy that Sherlotta was perched on. His eyes lit up in surprise. "Oh, I haven't had the chance to meet you. My name is Terrence, I'm the sheriff here in town, and Sophia's boss. And friend. How do you know her?" He questioned. Sophia had never mentioned having a little brother, or much family at all really.

 

*Yuffie*

Amber glanced down into the crevice. She glanced to Zach, and made a face. "That's your spot for our romantic meal?" She asked, teasing him a little bit, shifting her gaze back into the hole in the rock. "I mean, I'm sure if you were a vampire or a bat or something it would be delightful." Amber continued, still mocking his "perfect spot" as she descended slowly into the little alcove.

 

[Tifa]

The door to the diner rang as Krissa entered. She flashed an appreciative smile to Eclair, then to Clara. "Hey girls." She said, taking a seat next to Clara on a barstool. She had just recently reawoken from her slumber after her graveyard shift, and was now hungry. Fortunately, this diner always had good food and better service. "Hey Eclair, could I by chance get a cup of coffee and an order of sausage and hashbrowns to go?" Krissa ordered.
