rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 7, 2016 {Lumina & Serah} Clara looked shocked as Aeria came in and hugged her. "It's okay, kiddo." She said, trying to keep the fear out of her voice. "We'll go check on your mom." She hurried Aeria out to her car, but paused briefly to look back at Yeul. Did she know Elysia? Was her hurt friend just a coincidence? Clara put that aside as she got into her car and started it. Eclair looked shocked by Yeul's words. Everyone's fate rested with her? But if they knew, she'd... "But if I saved them..." She thought. "Lots." Eclair answered Skylar. "But as far as how I'm suppose to save everybody, I'm just about as lost as you are." For a few long seconds, she stared at Yeul. "But I'm gonna find out." Ripping off her apron and tossing it aside, Eclair went to help Yeul up. {Sice} Susan nodded her understanding. "Sounds good." She said encouragingly. She was silent for a moment as Sera drove. "Is Aeria your partner's sister?" Susan asked. "Girlfriend?"

Shard the Gentleman 2,891 Posted January 10, 2016 ~Fran~ Nicole didn't feel comfortable enough to leave Aron here by himnself to face whatever creature he was facing. "If I'm leaving, you're coming with me! But I don't think we should leave this thing." Nicole looked around, and grabbed a nearby lamp. "We've got this!"~Zidane~ After the morning he had with Amber, Zachary followed her to the Inn, due to some mess on the phone about someone wanting to question him. He wanted to make a quick stop upstairs, however, to write down an idea he had for I want to be your Canary! He started making his way up the stairs, but he wasn't too sure if he was going to make in before his legs gave out on him. He was still injured from the accident, but he didn't want to seem weak in front of Amber. He took a seat down on one of the steps, and called out. "So, who wanted to see me?" He asked, laughing away the pain from throwing himself down on the stairs.
Saber Lily 1,543 Posted January 10, 2016 -Lightning- Elysia frowned and looked over to Caius, then stepped back into her room. "Speak." she said warily, body tensing up...painfully. -Seven- She choked briefly. "If they were dating, I wouldn't be surprised. But no, Aeria is Elysia's foster daughter. Kid had no where else to go, so Elli took her in. Taught her a lot, though she's probably freaking out if she knew..." -Xion- Aeria was freaking out, and was a right mess in the car. She finally reached over to and grabbed Clara's sleeve. "M...mommy...she'll be okay, right?"
Arya Stark 1,337 Posted January 11, 2016 _Terra_ Terrence shook his head regretfully at Sophia's note about what had attacked them. If it had gotten Sophia this shaken up, something must have been seriously wrong. "If you say so," He whispered. It was very soon after that they ran across Lukas. Finally. Terrence smiled grimly to the boy and gave a slight wave in return. Then Sora promptly got out of the car to greet the new person. What a social kid. "Sora, this is Lukas. Your actually pretty similar in age aren't you? Lukas, this is Sora. He's Sophia's nephew. But back on topic, Lukas, why did you run away? You know that there's nothing out here on the streets for you, and a lot of people would give a lot for the warm, safe bed you have available. Can't you just go home? Please?" <Terra> Tina immediately knelt by Kievan. "Kiev... Are you okay?" Tina sounded a little shaken up by the thing that had just happened. And... she felt like it was the same as when she had seen the flashes of all those places, all those people. "Do you need to get checked out?" *Yuffie* Amber waved good bye to Kievan and Tina as they left, and as soon as they were gone, Amber leaned back in the chair and propped her feet up on the desk. Two days in a row of pulling front desk duty... This was a nice change from the tedious housework she always had to do. When Zach came back down the stairs, she looked to him and shrugged. "I don't know. Some journalist lady that came in yesterday and is staying now. Since she's staying here, if you stick around long enough, she's certain to come back before long." [Tifa] Krissa was startled... Well that much should have gone unsaid. "Sir?" She asked, her tone unsure. "I'm so sorry but I don't know you, or the Tifa you speak of." The Bartender said, gently pushing the blonde amnesiac away. She waved Elysia away when she was questioned, there was no need for any kind of serious intervention after all. And Krissa could more than take care of herself. But she was scarcely paying attention to the FBI agent, her focus quickly diverting entirely to the man. There was something in his eyes, in those spiky blonde locks... They were hauntingly familiar. A sharp pain crashed into her head... A star-filled sky on a green field... And this man and her, speaking, more than speaking, understanding. It all meant so much and so little. Krissa stumbled backwards a bit, having to catch herself on a chair so as not to fall. She shook her head, attempting to clear it before attempting speech again. She looked again to the man, her eyes now more suspicious than startled. What was that vivid image? "Who are you?" She asked.
Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted January 11, 2016 -Aqua- Sophia was about to scold and lecture Lukas, that is, until Sora get out of the car. Her eyes widened, more so because she absolutely had no idea why he just got out of the car just like that. Was Sora being serious? "S-Sora-" Sophia reached out her hand, but already it was too late; he was out of the car... And started to talk to Lukas. -Roxas- Lukas stared at Sora as if he had two heads. Who the hell was this kid? He was in pajamas and just started yapping away at how he was a group home kid who ran away. He looked like he wanted to stab somebody, honestly. "Agh, what the hell?!" Lukas growled, looking to Sophia and Terrence. "Do you guys always talk about my business to everybody?! And I didn't even run away, technically... But I'm not going back! I hate everyone there and that place is not my home! And you know what a lot of people would give a lot for, including me? Parents and a life!" Sophia let out a deep breath before she busted a gasket. She had to calm down. She was usually a calm woman in the first place. It's just that Lukas was so stubborn and strong willed. "... Get in the car." Sophia announced, sounding strangely calm. "Both of you. Get in the car." Lukas crossed his arms and huffed. "I'm not-" "GET. In the car." All Sophia did was look at Lukas, and slowly he slid in the car with a small grumble. Sophia had a scary side, and Lukas was the only one that brought that side out. Sherlotta meowed as soon as Lukas got in the car in the backseat behind Terrence. She rubbed her head warmly against his leg and purred lovingly. "Hey, Sherly..." Lukas muttered silently to her, petting her head. Sophia looked to Sora and her face softened. "Come on. Just get in the car and you can talk to Lukas all you want. I'm sure he would love a new friend to hang out with."
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 13, 2016 -Caius- The man could tell that Elysia was in pain, given the paleness of her face. He gestured toward her bed, as if suggesting she sit, before taking a seat alongside the bed and quickly preparing himself for what to say. "I know . . . you probably feel you've known this life, perhaps for as long as you can remember. But, if I may prompt the question: how far back do you remember? Can you remember coming here? Do you remember me? I'm especially wondering if you remember a man named Locke Cole who, to my understanding, goes by the name Skylar now." He raised a brow, watching Elysia tentatively. If he flat-out explained everything there was a good chance she'd just laugh in his face, but if he probed her to remember, well, things might play out differently. -Vanitas and Yeul- The delinquent was wandering the dark street, not really sure what he would do. Getting a bite to eat certainly seemed up his alley, though he had no money to consider his own presently. That all could change, however, if he mugged someone or threatened some kid that he stumbled upon. A steel-haired young woman emerged from the diner, which prompted him. This was his chance, his chance get some dinner money. He darted up from behind her and grasped her shoulders, whipping her around to face him and froze, a look of terror upon his face. He immediately let her go, his eyes wide. "You. I thought you were sealed away with the curse," Maverick spat. It was apparent that he was partly annoyed but also afraid. Yeul looked up into his amber eyes, seeming unfazed that he nearly assaulted her. "That was but one of me. There are many Yeuls, and I have come to undo what you have done. I have seen what your Yeul has met, and I know what will happen if everything goes unchanged. The savior must come to realize who she is; it is my duty to ensure this happens." A frown crossed Maverick's face. It looked as though he were going to say something, but instead he clamped his mouth shut. Yeul began to turn away when he lunged forward again, this time with a switchblade in hand. He pressed it to Yeul's throat, hard. "So tell me, Seer: what happens to me, huh? If you're going to undo all of this stuff, does it mean that I lose everything that I've worked so hard to get?" A gasp sounded from Yeul, her eyes widened as she stared ahead blankly. "You're--you're undoing involves a boy. A blond boy that rivals you in many ways. He will remember, and can end you as you know him." SIlent, Maverick released Yeul, his expression unreadable. Without an explanation he turned, walking back down the alley in the direction which he came. Maybe now he had a reason to kill Lukas after all. Yeul didn't manage to get far when she saw Eclair exit the diner. Had she seen the entire episode? The steel-haired woman turned to Eclair timidly. "Yes? What is it that you want, Eclair?" The final words came as a bit of a bite, offended that Eclair denied her true identity. -Sora- The brunet shuddered at Sophia's words. Never had he seen her angry yet, and it sure was terrifying. "O-ookay," Sora consented quickly, bounding into the passenger seat in hopes that Sophia could calm down. At first Sora didn't know what to do. A part of him felt that Lukas was just being altogether stupid for running away from home, but his thoughts softened when he recalled that not all homes were good. "You must've really hated it there if you don't want to go back," Sora said tenderly to his passenger companion. "Are you really going to be okay on your own, though? I mean, you're awfully young." -Kefka- "N-no, I'm fine." However, given his expression and ghastly face, it appeared Kievan was anything but fine. He slipped in the car and started the engine, trying to shake the disturbing images from his mind. Tina seemed alarmed enough as it was, and he didn't want to ruin her night. He offered her a smile, trying to ease her worries. "Come, my dear. It was just . . . a bit of panic. A nasty thing that I'm trying to overcome, but it's taking a fair amount of time. Teaching those high-school brats doesn't help my anxiety levels, it would seem." He offered a light laugh as he started to pull away from the B&B and into the street. They traveled down the road a fair ways in silence, Kievan's eyes fixated on the road. His thoughts were still considering that flashback until he realized that the blackness of the night ahead started to move in front of him. A frown furrowed his brows, his gaze concentrating harder into the sky ahead. "Did you just see that, Tina?" he asked, voice soft. Before he could consider anything further, a creature, dark, tall, huge, and intimidating, slammed its fist into the road ahead, destroying the pavement and leaving a gaping hole up ahead. The blond scientist slammed on his brakes, barely stopping in time. His eyes widened, heart hammering in his chest. What they faced was supernatural, and something entirely unworldly. SPOILERS: Click to reveal -Cloud and Aerith- The blond only could stare at her, his turquoise eyes studying her somberly. As he opened his mouth to speak a brunette nurse clutched his arm, glancing at Tifa apologetically. "I'm so sorry for him," the nurse, Iris, said to Krissa. "He's an amnesiac and seems to mistake certain for those he thinks he knows. He's harmless though and didn't mean to offend you." She started to tug on Cloud's arm, though he refused to budge. "Tif, I don't know what's going on, but I know you, and I think you must know me, too. We've known each other since we were kids, and we were working together to stop Ultimecia from doing something"--he closed his eyes painfully, as though trying to recalll something--"but I can't remember what it was. Please, you've got to believe me. I can't remember exactly who I am, but I remember you, and I remember that we have to stop her from getting the scroll!" Now it sounded like he was speaking of a fantasy. Iris gave Cloud a shot in the arm, to which he made no sound to. Suddenly his body seemed lax, his eyes out of focus. "Come on, dear," she said soothingly, leading him in the direction of his room as she shot Krissa one final apologetic look.
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 19, 2016 {Serah} "She's gonna be fine, sweetheart." Clara said encouragingly. "Your mom's built like a tank." She sounded more positive then she felt. She wanted to speed over to the hospital, but if Elysia had an accident, being safe on the roads seemed the better way to go. Hopefully, Sera was already there. Even thought she was driving, Clara reached out and took Aeria's hand. "It's gonna be alright." She said soothingly. While it felt like an eternity, the two Tonnerres arrived at the hospital, where Clara grabbed the closest parking spot she could, then shut off the engine. {Sice} Susan arched an eyebrow at Sera's comment, but let it pass. "Okay, if she needs to be picked up from some where, or anything else needs to be gotten, I'll handle that." She said. "Your place is with partner." {Lumina} Eclair looked apprehensive for a moment after Yeul stormed out. She gave Skylar an apologetic smile. "Sorry this weirdness has got you worried." She said. "I'll take care of it. You'd better get home." The Waitress went to follow Yeul out, but saw her talking with Maverick. She waited breathless until the malcontent left. Was the old lady already onto them. She carefully opened the door and sidled to Yeul. The Seeress's words felt like a slap to Eclair. In a moment, the facade of the nervous waitress was gone, leaving the rising anger of the Chaotic Echo. "Look" Lumina said, anger evident in her voice "I've got a good thing going on here. Things are messed up, but I actually have a life here. Friends. If I help you, you have to promise me I won't be left behind again. I won't be shoved aside to fade alone!" There was a hint of desperation and pleading in Lumina's voice in that last sentence. While Lightning had integrated the emotions that had made Lumina into herself, the chaos that made Lumina kept remembering, and so she was left behind as everyone else moved on to the new world. She wasn't gonna be left behind again. She wasn't gonna be alone. She was gonna make sure of that. {Balthier & Rikku} After a bit of time checking out Rachel's car, Sid finished up a preliminary list of parts needed. "This is gonna eat up time." Tiffany commented from below the car. "Yes, for one of us." Sid said as he put down the list. Tiffany poked her head out from under the car to give her new boss a questioning look. "We still have that other project to look into." He said. "Come on, I'll show you." Remembering the mech suit, Tiffany eagerly got up and followed Sid. They made quick work of locking up and putting up the "Out To Lunch" sign before hoping into an unmarked car Sid kept around and headed over to the warehouse he had stashed the suit. {Snow} After a short drive, Johnny pulled up out front of the Vet clinic, and killed the engine. "Here you go." He told Rachel. "If you need a pick up from work, I should be free."
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) -Yeul- A shadow crossed the Seeress' face. "Good for you, but what about everyone else?" She gestured to the diner and the people surrounding it: Skylar heading to his car in bewilderment, with Clara and Aeria panicking inside over Elysia's injuries. "No one remembers who they are. Their lives are a wreck, and they can't have a happy ending; not really. Ultimecia has a terrible fate in store for many of you, and I've seen the future. Unless we make a difference now it will be too late to change what's to come." With that Yeul took a step backward, gaze still fixated on Eclair. "Only you are in charge of what happens to you from here. Do you share any bonds, any ties? Think of this as the chance to set things right. If you can find your way to belong now, the you will find your way later." The words were vague, perhaps gnawing, that came from the seeress, though that typically was the way fortune tellers worked. There were so many variables, alternate futures, and the path was never clear. -Ultimecia- The doors to the Narshe B&B opened and closed, allowing a cold gust of wind to enter in the wake of a tall slender woman dressed in hues of black and red. Her ruby lips matched her purse impeccably, contrasting heavily with her pallid locks. She turned a glance toward the stairs at Zach and gave a start. "Could it be . . . the writer I have heard so much of?" Immediately she placed her black leather purse on the counter and strode up to Zach, taking him by the hand without his volition and shaking it roughly. "It is such a pleasure! My name is Scarlett Fleur. I am a journalist here to write a story about this quaint little town. I have heard so much about you, you see, and I feel that you are just the person for me to talk to! That is, if you have a moment to join me while I buy you something to drink, whether it be coffee, soda pop, or of the alcoholic variety."She lau She laughed, straightening herself as she eyed the writer. "I know just the diner, too. If you'd care to come with me, we could ride in my rental." -Vanille- At Johnny's response the redhead unfastened her seatbelt, leaned across the middle seat and gave him a huge hug around the neck, whether he wanted it or not. "Oh, thank you!" she breathed, her voice muffled in Johnny's shoulder, her breath hot against his neck. "You have been such a huge, huge help. I promise I'll repay you for this somehow." Yes, very soon Johnny might just regret ever volunteering to help the enthusiastic redhead. Sometimes she didn't quite understand boundaries, as sweet and well-meaning as she was. Without a second glance Rachel slid out of the passenger seat, waved enthusiastically, before disappearing behind the entrance to the office. Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted February 11, 2016 (I was waiting for Emerald to post but I'll post anyway) -Aqua- Sophia closed her eyes and relaxed herself once Sora got back in the car. This day was getting more and more stranger by the moment. She looked back at Lukas for a moment, debating on if she should just take him home, or bring him along for the ride. The second option sounded much better although Sophia did want him home... It's just that with the shadow creatures running amok it was safer for him to be near her. "Thank you." She said softly, looking to Terrence as she drove off again. "One of us needs to stay in the car to watch Sora and Roxas just in case those things show up." -Roxas- Lukas wanted nothing to do with Sora. He looked like the most annoying little dweeb in the world. After Sora began to talk however, a part of him felt like he was able to confide in the boy. Almost as if he met him before. "It's not that I hate it... Which I kinda do..." Lukas uttered, his anger slowly disappearing. "It's just... I don't have a mom. Or dad. Just bunches of kids that I live with and staff that takes care of us. Some of the other teens I live with are absolute jerks. Others... Are okay. I just..." Lukas clenched his fists. "Everyone eventually gets put in a loving home with loving parents and has a happy life and I'm just stuck here. It doesn't matter if I leave now- when I'm 18, I get kicked out anyway. Maybe I have a chance out there." Lukas went silent, staring out of the window. After talking about it, he actually felt kinda bad for leaving. When Sophia mentioned to Terrence about someone staying in a car, Lukas huffed. "My names not Roxas, it's Lukas. What kind of a name is Roxas?" Lukas uttered underneath his breath. Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted February 15, 2016 -Sora- The brunet watched Lukas somberly as he spoke of his life. It sounded like a hard one indeed, with no family to call your own. "But . . . there's got to be somebody that you care about, and who cares about you, right?" he spoke up, turning to Lukas beside him with wide sincere eyes. "You've got friends, don't you? They can be your family. Heck, you can make your own. Lots of people do it that don't have their own families." Sora glanced down, fidgeting with a Mickey-shaped keychain that he withdrew from his pocket. "I mean, I know it can't be as easy as that, but it's a start. If you don't have what you want, you've got to make it for yourself. I don't know how much longer I'll be in town, but we could be great friends." He didn't see why it couldn't be true. So far he really liked Lukas, and there was something about the boy that felt so familiar and trusting. Had they somehow met before? -Vanitas- Maverick wandered down the street, hands crammed in his slim pockets. What Yeul offered was certainly not good news whatsoever, and that stupid punk of a kid Lukas was going to be the one who would ruin everything for him. This was just utterly the last straw. First he ruins his past life, and now he's going to ruin his present one. While things were sure far from perfect, at least he had a life to call his own now. He could make his own decisions and practically do whatever he wanted. For a bit he wondered if he should inform Ultimecia of the prophecy. However, he didn't trust the old witch as far as he could throw her. He didn't know what she would do with the information, but a part of him didn't want to find out. He was going to do what he was best at: working on his own. Something had to be done with Lukas. This simply could not go on. Harming people was no problem for Maverick, but what Maverick had in store for Lukas was a bit different. Finally he arrived at his small apartment where he'd been staying; a run-down building with drug addicts, criminals, and more. He unlocked it and helped himself inside. -Locke- The game clerk drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, his stereo blazing his favorite Beetles tunes. His life was certainly a strange one, getting weirder and weirder by the day. Eclair's life seemed even more strange, what with the incident of that blue-haired woman claiming that she knew everything about her. They must've had some history, and Eclair's words before she'd stormed out of the diner . . . . His fingers wrapped tightly around the steering wheel now, his knuckles turning white. So far he hadn't done much with his life: worked at a video game store and flirted with every girl in town. However, Eclair was a long friend of his, almost for as long as he could remember, and he truly wanted to help her. This saving-the-world nonsense sounded like a bit much to swallow--or believe--but he believed his friends. While it seemed partially ridiculous, he was determined that he would ask her of this soon, and hopefully she'd provide him with a straight answer. If not, well, maybe he'd be able to find that blue-haired girl and choke some information out of her.
Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted February 17, 2016 (Omg it's about to go down Who else is totally pumped up for this?!) -Roxas- Lukas sighed softly after hearing Sora's words. He didn't want to admit it... But Sora was right. Yeah, Lukas didn't have a proper family, but he had people who cared about him and people he cared about. Everyone in the group home... Flint, Aeria, Aaron- even Sophia and Terrence. They all want what's best for him. They all want him to be happy. Lukas... Had to be okay with that. "Start my own family, huh..." Lukas trailed off, closing his eyes to think for a moment. Now that he thought about it, he must have a big family. Lukas couldn't help but chuckle in the slightest, looking to Sora with a smile. "Sure... You can be part of my family, Sora. I need a goofy little dweeb in my life anyway." He was joking obviously, as he couldn't throw away the opportunity. rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) {Lumina} "They're alive, aren't they?" Lumina shot back. "Yeah, they're new lives aren't perfect, but neither were they're old ones." She fumed at Yeul talked about setting things right. When had anyone set things right with her? But the seeress was right. She was in charge of what happened to her this time. She was in control. Wasn't she? "No. You're not." The part of her mind that was still more chaos then person told her. "Your perfect little world is already crumbling." "I can try to save it." She thought back. "Anything you choose will almost assuredly end in failure." "So choose fun..." Lumina murmured to herself, remembering a...friend that saved her. For a moment, Lumina looked blank. Then, a mischievous smile spread across her face. If she was going down anyway, might as well ride the waves. "Okay, I'm in." She told Yeul. "So, you got a plan, or are we doing things my way?" {Snow} "Heh, you're welcome." Johnny replied. "Don't worry about it." He waved back at her, then headed back on the road. Well, this would bite into workout time, but he figured he could make it up later. Edited February 29, 2016 by rikunobodyxiii
Arya Stark 1,337 Posted February 25, 2016 _Terra_ Terrence nodded slightly at Sophia's words. "Sure. I can do it if you want. You're better at the whole investigating thing anyway. I'm just the muscle." He said, trying to lighten things a little bit, but clearly Sophia was still recovering from her previous outburst. She didn't do that very often at all, the whole yelling thing. Just wasn't in her nature to get angry to the point of screaming at a kid. Of course, Lukas had it coming, but still. He had expected to burst before she did. She was probably just extra on edge after whatever attacked them... The Sheriff listened to the back seat, and smiled slightly. He thought about interjecting, but decided not to. Better to just let Lukas actually gain something without the interference of him. If an adult got into it, the whole thing would be ruined. Terrence knew that, he'd been a kid once... Had he? Terrence suddenly realized he could scarcely remember a childhood. How... very odd. He set his mind away from it and asked Sophia another question. "So we were going to go find Iris right? Ask her about Cloud?" He inquired. <Terra> Tina followed Kievan's directive, getting into the passenger seat, but she resolved to look out for him. There was something going on here, and it had unsettled Kievan. Soon enough though, they were on the road, and everything seemed like it was going to be fine. Her companion's skin tone had recovered. But then there was a flash of motion. Tina did not have time to answer his question before the flash of motion became far more than that. "Oh shit!" Tina cried out, not loudly but certainly in terror. What in the world was this thing? Tina's first reaction was to kill it, and lacking any kind of weapons, she yelled at Kievan to do the next best thing. "Run it over! Hit it! Something!" [Tifa] Krissa listened in silence as Cloud called back to her, desperation clearly in his voice. And that flicker of recognition held a huge sway over the Bartender as she watched Iris cart him away... "Wait! Iris." Krissa cried out, not completely certain what she was doing. She jogged over to her and her patient, and gave her a slight smile. "I can take care of him for a while. Maybe I can help get something out of him if he does recognize me from somewhere." Krissa said with a nod, offering a hand to take the amnesiac off of the nurse's hands. Truly, she was more interested in finding out about herself through him than she was about him discovering where he was from, but still. Mutual benefit and all. Krissa smiled, a pleading look in her eyes.

The lady began to explain who she was and what she wanted. Of course Zachary was more than willing to spend time talking to her. "Sure thing, Scarlett! Dave 5,715 Posted March 5, 2016 -Kuja- You couldn't rush art, Myles knew, but there came a time when one had to admit that they were pouring molasses instead of water. Having only recently returned to his hometown, Myles was taking up residence in the Narshe B&B, and for the past few days had not ventured outside his room. Partly because he was already regretting returning to a place where weather was considered stimulating conversation, and partly because the painting he was currently working on was going as smoothly as a kidney stone. A blank canvas stood as an obelisk designed with the sole purpose of mocking him, with the only testament to his struggles being the waste paper basket full of crumpled paper. It was a sign of his pride, however, that in spite of his self imposed isolation for days on end and his frustrations with trying to find the perfect visual representation of the folly of the deception of righteousness while simultaneously embracing the illusion of tolerance, Myles managed to to keep his clothes clean and his hair immaculate, though the hours of staring at his canvas laced his eyes with less than savory bloodshot hues. "There is no greater malice to face," he muttered aloud, his voice raspy from lack of use, "than one without form or thought, but, like a gnat, hovers by your head, assaulting your ears with its piercing drone, and biting your flesh lest you forget that it's there." Even more unrelenting was the grumbling echoing from his stomach, reminding Myles that the term "starving artist" need not be taken quite so literally. Myles grimaced; he originally planned not to grace the locals with his presence until he produced a piece that would serve to let them know the quality of the man whom descended from Olympus to illuminate their drab and colorless world. But though the spirit was willing, the flesh was weak, and it was with great reluctance that Myles convinced himself to get up form his chair, go through the door, and head downstairs. "After all," he tried to console himself, "walking among the mice reminds the lion that he is great." Heading down to the lobby (perhaps leaning a bit closer on the handrail than he anticipated, the sudden exertion reminding him of his limited activity for the last few days), Myles made an effort to look like he was ignoring the pair of writers (though it was impossible not to at least internally acknowledge the taller woman's sharp sense of style. The red and black ensemble was classy, yet practical), and turned his attention to the young lady tending the front desk. "I know this is unlikely, but would you happen to know where I could get a meal that exceeds the pallet expected by yokels?"
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted March 18, 2016 -Sora- A frown furrowed Sora's brow at Lukas' remark. "Hey!" Still, he couldn't argue with it too heavily, as it was partly true. He was a bit of a goof at times, though he didn't think he was a dweeb . . . whatever a dweeb was anyway. His expression softened finally, turning to Lukas and offering him a slight smile. At least he was willing to consider him family. "And I'm glad to be in your family, too, especially since I don't know when I will see mine again." The brunet's expression darkened again as he pressed his nose against the glass, thinking about home. He thought of his mom, her warm smile, and how worried she probably was about him. His dad had probably skipped several days of work to console her, and probably went on a search for him himself. Hopefully someone was remembering to feed his dog; he didn't want to see a skinny Ruffo when he got home. His attention was arrested from the window upon Terrence's words. Were they going to get dragged into the investigation? That was rather exciting. He smoothed down his red pajama shorts and straightened in his seat, hoping to appear more confident than the brooding boy missing his family by the window. "I'm sure that I could help. I've met Iris before, and she's really nice." Before Terrence could respond he continued, partially stumbling over his words as he went. "I really have always wanted to do detective work, and I promise that I would stay safe and won't get in the way. Please, Mister Terrence? Can I help?" -Yeul- The seeress was mildly surprised by Lumina's compliance. Lumina had always been independent, slightly untrustworthy. It was a bit startling that she was so interested in setting things right, though she had to admit that she was gladdened. It would be much easier if she wasn't alone. "Lightning is in danger, and she is the only one that can guide all of us home once we break the curse. It is going to take three boys and the X-Blade to break the curse, though I have not been able to find any of them yet. I have seen their faces but do not know their names. All that I know is this: two of the boys are from our lands, while one boy was born in this world. That boy is the wielder of this X-Blade that will end Ultimecia and break the curse. However . . . " A shadow darkened Yeul's face as she turned, her gaze falling upon the setting sun over the ocean in the distance. "Ultimecia already knows that I'm here, and is working to alter events. She wants to kill Lightning, and me. Lumina, we must get Lightning to believe again. She was a leader before and she can do it again. If you have friends, tell them. They might not believe, but those who do could be of great help. We are fighting a losing battle, with so few of us knowing the truth." A soft smile stretched the lips of the blue-haired youth, her cheeks still round from young age. "Thank you . . . Lumina. I'm glad that I can count on you. Do as you wish, but be careful. You are playing both sides, and since you are near to Ultimecia you can probably help us most. Let me know what she is doing, where she is going. Help dissuade her from Lightning and keep her safe. It is the most we can do right now." -Kefka- Tina's outburst certainly caught the scientist by surprise. Seldom did he ever see her truly upset, let alone be upset enough to swear. However, if there were ever a decent time to swear this would be it: looking into the face of a dark ominous creature, one that was ten times their size and of supernatural nature. Everything was entirely surreal this evening; Kievan thought he was truly losing it. His immediate instincts were to slam on the breaks, but upon Tina's encouragement he started to step on the gas again, but it was no use: the creature merely flew out of the way. The town's border was in view, and yet so greatly out of reach. He started to step on the gas again, only this time their car was lifted from the ground. A yelp escaped him, his fingers clutching the steering wheel tightly. His eyes held terror. There was no way that he could protect himself, let alone Tina. For one horrifying moment, he'd felt that he'd failed. The car was lifted high, until they were looking the creature in the eye. Its eyes were sunken and empty, its body seeming to consist of raw darkness itself. It licked the paint of their car. Just when it seemed the scenario could not get any worse, it lifted a clawed hand and struck at the car, its claws smashing the windows and nearly--if not--scratching Tina. Kievan reached out to the blonde, concern burning deep in his chest. "Tina! Look out!" A delayed reaction, and yet that was all he could muster. He reached toward the backseat, but little was there. Only some textbooks, a briefcase containing his student's homework, and . . . his cell phone. He grasped it, quickly dialing Sid's phone number. The police couldn't help in this situation, no, but perhaps the mecha weapon that they'd found on the beach could. -Aerith and Cloud- A look of concern washed over the brunette's face, her pale-blue hair bow drooping slightly. "Are you sure, Krissa? He is an amnesiac, after all, and we've sort of found him to be a little . . . unpredictable. Sometimes he can freak out in his sleep, and other times he's even lashed out at a nurse. We're hoping to calm him, but . . . he does seem very fond of you. If you're this "Tifa" he keeps talking about, he's mentioned you often." Iris bit her lip. A lot of strange things have been happening as of late, and she really didn't want to see Krissa hurt. At the same time she really did want to see Cloud get better, and if Krissa could in any way help him, well, perhaps this time with just the two of them would do him some good. Finally she released the handles of the wheelchair, allowing Krissa to take the reigns. "Feel free to travel the hospital premises with him. He may be a bit out of it for fifteen minutes or so after the shot, but he should resume his normal self shortly, and then the two of you could talk." She bowed her head. "Really, Krissa . . . thank you. You have a very big heart. If he becomes too much for you, please know that any of the staff would be happy to help, and I'd like to advise that you two stay in public places, just in case." -Ultimecia- Her ruby lips curled in a smile upon Zachary's words. So willing to promote is work, so naive and willing to talk. Yes, this would do her well. Perhaps visiting this good-for-nothing beach was going to pay off after all. "Excellent! I am flattered to borrow a bit of your time, Zachary. Please, let us take my vehicle. I will purchase whatever it is you desire to drink, be it at the bar or diner." She nodded in thanks to Amber, before opening the door to Narshe B&B and holding it open for Zachary. "My car is the red corvette over there. Take a seat, and let us talk about some of the things you like to write. I hear you are working on a novel currently, correct? Have you written any biographies, perhaps documentaries?" Before she exited the building, however, she took notice of the man descending the staircase, eyes narrowing at the sight. Kuja, one of her companions of the distant past. Of course he wouldn't remember her now, just like all of the other unfortunate souls trapped under this curse on this beach, but she found it partly amusing to see what he had become. An artist, from the sound of things, and a rather unsuccessful one at that. Unable to resist toying with an old friend, a wide smile stretched her lips. "Pardon, darling, but I couldn't help overhearing that you're looking for a good place to eat. I hear that the neighborhood diner is a hotspot to locals and provides great food. I'm heading there with a companion myself and would not mind giving you a lift." She mildly wondered if he would be taken aback by the offer of a ride from a would-be stranger, but she was quite interested in hearing his life's story, not to mention she would be curious to see what has become of him during his time here. Everyone seemed to have changed from their real-world selves. Just take Kefka, for instance.
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 18, 2016 {Lumina} Lumina chuckled. "Why do I always have to bail her out?" She mused, thinking of Lightning. This wasn't gonna be easy, but it should be fun. She just hoped the sorceress was smarter then she looked. "Alright, we can going with the boring option. I'll be in touch." She told Yeul, then turned to go. She paused a moment, then looked back at the Seeress. "Oh, and it's only fair to warn you that I'm not trust worthy. I'm doing this because I like messing things up. I like chaos. If you're lucky, things won't flip flop on you." With that, Lumina walked off to search for Ultimecia. {Balthier & Rikku} After making sure they were not followed, Sid showed Tiffany the mech suit in his secret warehouse. After a couple of minutes of silent awe at the device, the duo got to work carefully taking it apart. Each part was photographed, and catalogued. After a couple of hours of work, they took a break. "Seriously, where did you find this thing?" Tiffany asked before taking another drink from her Gateraid. "Secret." Sid answered. "Sorry, kid, but it's better you don't know. The less you know, the less you have to lie in case things go bad." Tiffany rolled her eyes. "Come on, Sid, give me something! That metal is old. Like, super old. But that kind of tech is something out of a sci-fi movie. Are we talking about some sort of secret Nazis war machine or something?" Sid shrugged. "Don't know, don't care." He answered. Tiffany gave him an "oh really" look. "Alright, so I'm curious. You're right. That thing is old. Which means, where ever it comes from, it changes everything." He looked down at his water bottle as he swirled the liquid around. "And we could do with a change." Drinking the rest of his water, Sid crushed it and threw it away. "Come on, we'll lock up for now and get back to the red head's car. We'll work in shifts on that and this secret project." Tiffany nodded and collected her things. The way Sid had talked about change had seemed to be about more then just what the mech meant. Of course, before she had the chance to take apart the mech, she would have agreed. Dave 5,715 Posted March 23, 2016 -Kuja- Instinctively, Myles felt inclined towards annoyance to the older woman both listening in AND interrupting the conversation. He wasn't some phone booth that could be accessed by just anyone wanting to drop a line. Yet, perhaps it was the past few days of isolation, or maybe because someone was simply taking an interest in him at all, but the artist found himself inclined to answer the call. "Well, then, if it's a choice between starvation or entrusting my safety and well being with a stranger, I suppose I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." Pleased that fate had, at the very least, treated him to a Samaritan with a sense of style, Myles walked alongside her as she exited the Inn. "Think of how many kingdoms would have fallen without a shot had the barbarians at their walls only offered them food..." The metaphor trailed off as his eyes became more concerned with something infinitely more concrete. For the first time, he espied the aforementioned companion the woman had spoken of: a young, short haired, blonde man who seemed to be dressed far more sensibly than one would expect of the local assortment of hicks and plebeians. He wasn't certain if it was the spark of intelligence in the young man's eyes, or the fact that he defied every low expectation Myles brooked for the citizens of Destiny Beach, but for some reason, the artist felt... challenged, somehow. "And what say you?" Myles asked Zachary. "How willing would you be to forfeit all the power in the world in exchange for a breakfast that didn't corrode your stomach wall?" Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted March 23, 2016 -Aqua- Sophia sighed softly as she started to yet again drive down the street. There was just so much things to do as of right now she just was unsure of what to do first. "We have to do that too but... I have to make sure Aeria and Elysia are okay." Sophia uttered, looking at her rear view mirror to glimpse at Sora and Lukas. "The problem is, I need to keep a watch on-" Suddenly Sora piped up talking about being a part of an investigation and before Terrence could even give his answer Sophia shook his head. "Oh no you're not." Sophia said sternly. "This is dangerous. I'm not going to put you at risk." -Roxas- Lukas meanwhile chuckled at Sora's response. It was the exact kind of expression he was hoping for. When Sora mentioned his parents however, Lukas frowned and reached out a hand to console him. That's when he began talking about being a part of a investigation. When Sophia responded, suddenly Lukas grinned. "Oh come onnnnnnnn." Lukas complained, whining in the slightest just to get on the woman's nerves. "You never let us have any fun. Terrence knows we can handle ourselvessssss! Plus, it'll be even more dangerous if you drop us off somewhere."
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 4, 2017 The situation with Kievan and Tina was dire--this thing did not want to leave them alive. Silently the blond prayed for a miracle, that this would all end up being a terrible nightmare, or that Sid would come marching to the rescue in that weapon that they'd discovered on the beach. The dial tone sounded painful to his ears; why was it taking so long for him to pick up? He glanced over at Tina anxiously, fearing for the young woman's safety. Reaching over, he grasped her upper arm tightly and murmured. "I am so sorry that I've gotten you into this mess." --------- The four (Terrence, Sophia, Sora, and Lukas) were still in the car, seeming like a happy feuding family. Sora put on the largest pout and threw off his seat belt. He pushed his head in between the space of Terrence and Sophia, glancing between the two of them irritably. "I really want to do something fun while I'm here," he murmured. He really wanted to add that he was the only one who'd been imprisoned in the tower, and perhaps knew more about their villain than the others. But he couldn't; Sophia wouldn't want him blurting the truth to either Terrence or Lukas, even though he very much wished to. Perhaps this would be a boring stay on Destiny Beach after all, especially without the proper garments. -------- As Krissa carted Cloud away, the blond sat back in his seat surveying the hospital. For the most part it was quiet; few patients were visible outside of their rooms, mostly accompanied by their friends or loved ones. Even the staff members were sparse along the hall. Perhaps it was nearing lunch hour and most were away, the blond thought, completely unaware of the time or date. A heavy sigh escaped him before he finally voiced, "You just think I'm crazy like everyone else, don't you?" ------ Myles had accepted Ultimecia's invitation, and both him and Zachary were going to join her for a meal of information. Amusement danced in her eyes as Myles had struck up a conversation with Zachary himself. To think that both hated one another in another life that was so far from memory! Rivals at best, enemies at worst, and as close to brothers as one could have, this was more than the sorceress could've possibly bargained for. "Well, now, I don't wish to break up this conversation, but it would be far more delightful to continue this in the comfort of a warm diner and delicious food, wouldn't you say? Please, take a seat; we'll head off from here." With this Ultimecia slid into the driver's seat and, once her two companions had as well, began to drive off to the common gathering hotspot of Destiny Beach. --------- If there was only one thing in the world that Vanitas was good at, it was hunting down trouble and finding it. He'd left his apartment in a sour mood, predominately because the milk in his fridge was sour and he'd wanted a bowl of cereal more than anything else. The teen shoved his hands in the pockets of his torn black jeans, assessing the alleyway as he traversed it. He didn't know what he wanted to do with himself, but at this very point in time wished that Lukas or Aeria were around; bullying someone almost always put him in a better mood. Harassment, however, was a close second, and as he leaned against the wall of a large old warehouse the raven-haired youth's lips curved into a grin. The wall was just so . . . plain, so much so that he felt it needed some decor. Pulling out a black sharpee that he reserved in his pocket specifically for such occasions, Maverick got to work. He began outlining a stick figure, which he was going to add silly details to as an insult. What he really needed was some spray paint but, well, he'd just have to come back later to finish his graffiti masterpiece. Little did he realize that this warehouse was frequented by Sid himself, and that a young woman was busy working on a project within those very walls that he drew upon. Chances are Tiffany would probably hear him, though it is difficult to say how she would respond. -------- Suddenly the shadow within Aron's apartment just up and vanished, leaving Nicole and Aron in a very messy apartment in complete bewilderment. Had they just been seeing this? Was it a trick of the light? It would've made a very interesting police report, one that would probably not be convincing in the slightest and instead would get the two locked up in a psych ward. (If Scrap doesn't resume Auron I'll try to continue his character) -------- It seemed that Elysia was certainly musing over his words and what her response would be, which was at least better than her cursing him out and insisting that he leave. The dark hunter leaned back in his seat, placing his hands behind his head and watched her. If he could just get her to remember his task would be that much easier, but alas, Lightning had always been stubborn, and it seemed that she hadn't changed a bit in her new life here. Voices at the door arrested Caius's attention, causing him to divert his attention from Lightning and toward the potential newcomers. This was going to become much more awkward of a conversation if they were interrupted, and chances are Elysia would no longer be interested in talking with him at all if this were indeed her sister and daughter, who had recently arrived at the hospital. Dave 5,715 Posted January 5, 2017 Myles accepted with an airy wave of his hand. "Drive on, my dear, and fear no red lights, for flattening a plebeian pedestrian would be considered no loss at all." He savored a self contented grin across his lips. Riding in a car with a complete stranger or not, the artist felt that the blessing of being able to revel in a sense of accomplishment, passing quaint house after quaint house as they drove further into the doldrums' belly, was well worth the possible risk of abduction. "The greatest thing to come out of this town was the groundbreaking scientific discovery that walking and breathing was, in fact, a possibility." 1 Shard the Gentleman reacted to this
Arya Stark 1,337 Posted January 11, 2017 <Terra> "Yeah, so am I." Tina said quietly, her other hand going to Kievan's. This was a truly terrifying beast before them, and Tina in her fear, could only cower, with little more. Were these her final moments on this earth? Would she die now? That... couldn't be right could it? Tina felt sentenced, condemned, sitting in this car, helpless and hopeless. And that, well, it made her feel angry. Remarkably so. She watched the creature for a moment longer, and glanced towards Kievan, who sat with the phone pressed against his ear, like it would save him. That didn't make her angry... but it didn't help. Tina stepped out of the car and picked up a chunk of asphalt. "Buzz off!" If she was going to die, it wouldn't be doing nothing, resigned to her fate. No, she controlled her life. And she always would. Tina threw the asphalt at the whack ghost thing. _Terra_ "Shouldn't they also be at the hospital? We could head there, have Lukas and myself go find Elysia and Aeria, and you and Sora can go talk to Iris. Or we could switch places." Terrence proposed as Sora complained in the back about wanting to be part of the investigation and being bored. Terrence glanced back to the kid and smiled towards him at a stoplight. He then faced forwards again. "It's just talking to Iris Sophia, shouldn't be any danger. Honestly, before the last few days, the idea that anyone would be in any danger would have made me laugh. Let him help you do some detective work, I'm sure he'll do quite fine. And I bet you'd like that too huh Sora?" Terrence called out the last bit louder so that those in the backseat could hear him more clearly. *Yuffie* Amber had been about to answer Myles' question, maybe refer him to a place a bit finer than the diner if he was going to act so high and mighty, but the journalist woman swept him away before she got the chance. She waved goodbye to Zach as he departed with the whole crew, then sat back in her chair, and took a deep breath. She pulled out her phone and began to mess with it, checking twitter and snapchat, though she'd never gotten any real pleasure from doing these things. They were just a means to an end, a way to keep up with her friends. But Amber had always preferred to hang out, or be out and doing things rather than on her phone. But since, she was just sitting here, there was no reason not to right now. [Tifa] "Thank you Iris. Don't worry, I've got it covered. Besides, he's kinda cute isn't he?" She said, smiling towards Iris as she carted Cloud away, headed towards nowhere in particular. The amnesiac had intrigued her, and she wasn't going to not follow up. And he triggered something in her, and it felt to her like something she'd been seeking for a long time had finally come onto the board. Cloud asked her a question as he came to from the shot. Krissa shook her head. "Crazy's harsh. You just hit your head. Lost a few memories. Happens all the time." She said, discouraging him from terming himself as crazy. "You'll be feeling much better in a few days I'm sure, then we can help you find your home. Up until then, I'd be glad to keep you company though." 1 Shard the Gentleman reacted to this
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted January 11, 2017 {Rikku} Tiffany carefully removed a piece of the engine from the mech suit and set it down on a work bench. While it definitely was an engine, Tiffany couldn't tell what powered it. Maybe electric? After adjusting a lamp for better lighting, she took several pictures of the part, then tagged it with a number so she and Sid would know how to put it back together. The young mechanic was about to get back to the mech when she heard a sound from outside the warehouse. After a few seconds of frozen contemplation, Tiffany quietly picked up a crowbar from the tool rack and tip toed towards the source of the sound. She didn't want to go out looking for it, but she could wallop it if it tried to get it. She hoped that was the right idea. She also hoped Sid would get back with the coffee really soon. {Snow} Johnny parked his car in the gym parking lot. He paused a moment as he considered his daily routine. He had to be ready for a upcoming rematch with Krissa if he wanted to win it. He actually really enjoyed his friendly rivalry with the boxer. Without her consistent forcing himself to up his game, he might have stalled out in his training. And he had a few new tricks to counter what she had hit him with last time. As he went into the gym, he turned on a Police scanner through ear phones in case there was something he could help with. {Serah} Clara hurried Aeria through the parking lot and into the hospital Elysia was staying. Again, she tried to appear calmer then she actually felt. It didn't help that she was getting a migraine. "Well, when in doubt, be direct." She thought as she marched up to the front desk. "Hi, I'm here checking on Elysia Tonnerre." She said to the nurse on duty. "I'm her sister Clara and this is her daughter Aeria." 1 Shard the Gentleman reacted to this
Shard the Gentleman 2,891 Posted January 11, 2017 ~Zidane Tribal~ Jeez... a lot of things have happened in the last twenty four hours... First, I'm attacked by a wolf... man? Then, I'm hit it by a car and get sent to a hospital. I break out of the hospital, I take Amber out to the Cavern, and finally, this strange Scarlette woman wants to take me and this... Myles? To dinner. At least it ended nice, but I'd really like to relax. Zachary complained to himself, feeling better than he had initially, but nearly collapsing in exhaustion. Answering Scarlette's question about whither he was published or not with no, but that he was working on a play/novel of personal relevance. The Myles character asked him some complicated about power versus starvation. "Hm. Well, the only power I have, sir, is the power to use a pen, and push a mower. I'd eat a decent meal over mowing someone's lawn any day, but I'd rather starve than desert my personal projects. The way you talk... you're an artist of some sorts as well, aren't you?" Zachary replied, curious as to what kind of works this Myles had under his belt. Soon enough however, Zachary found himself in the car of the woman he had just met, on the way to eat dinner with these strangers. Artists were known for having a dark sense of humor. It comes paired with a background either repressed or dark enough to be called a tragedy. These cases usually either become the greatest Artist of their time, or fall into a deep depression and drink themselves to death. For Myles case, due to his comment about running over strangers, Zachary hoped for the former.~Fran~ The figure of darkness vanished almost as soon as Nicole had become aware of what the origin of that dank smell that led her here had came to be. Relaxing her muscles caused the lamp in her hands to tumble towards the ground, not even a scratch did it bare. She looked towards her friend, worried that he had gotten hurt before she arrived. "What happened? Before I got here, I could smell this... this dank stench. When that... thing... left, the smell dissipated, but it lingers. What could it have been?" Many questions had drifted through her mind, for many things had happened. As a social worker, it's her job to protect citizens from internal affairs. But this? What could this have been? It all started last night when she had hit Zachary with her car the night before... and those flashes? A motorcycle? Someone's face... and an undying familiarity and feeling of correctness.~Tyro~ (Since everyone in game had been referring to him as Tyro rather than Emmet, I'm going to keep him as Tyro in game.) What am I going to do...?!? Tyro was finding it hard to keep his mind. All of the records... the records of the heroes, gone! It may have not been smart to keep them all in one album, but he never suspected that someone would steal them... Out of all the valuable objects in his Pawn Shop, why the records of the heroes? Was it possible that someone here had retained memory of their last lives, aside from himself? And why are many of the heroes missing in this town? Is it possible that some had evaded whatever force that led them here? Tyro had too many questions unanswered that he desired otherwise. Originally his intent was to find the man who once was Locke, but he had no idea where to start. Instead, he saw a police cruiser coming up to the red light he was standing. As soon as the car stopped, Tyro took his chance. "Hello? Terrance?" He began knocking on the window of the car, hoping that he would roll it down. He could easily view the variety of passengers within the car, but something stood out. None of these people were in any of his records. It was easy to recognize some people, like Krissa or Rachel, but these people didn't look familiar at all. He only knew Terrance because he was the local sheriff, the only one he had met so far.
