Why does everyone blame Nomura for everything?

Recommended Posts

It seems every time something happens in Kingdom Hearts, it was Nomura.

Nomura isn't the sole creator and owner of Kingdom Hearts. He's the character designer and director. He doesn't write the script, he doesn't choose the release date, if a character doesn't make it into the game, there's a good chance it was someone other than Nomura who did it. There's a reason videogames have teams, because no single person could make a game. Nomura also doesn't decide what console a game comes out for (He can give a suggestion, but ultimately it's Square Enixes call)

So seriously, every time a game gets delayed, or a world doesn't make it in, or a character says an odd lien of dialog, pretty much any complaint that doesn't involve character designs, try and remember that it wasn't Nomuras fault, it was probably someone else. Most likely Square Enix and Disneys marketing departments.

Because the way stuff goes on, people view him as running the whole franchise by himself. I used to blame him too. He's the main person at the interviews, we hear no KH news or main details unless it comes from him, so who else to blame? (Not agreeing with this, just pointing out the other peoples side of the story)

I haven't really blamed him on much, though I see where you're going with this. I remember reading about how fans outside of Japan want the Final Mix's to KH. Some of the interviews that I read he normally stated that if he could release them outside of Japan he would, but even so its not his call to make. To me he's doing his best to please however many fans that he can while still following the rules of SE. Since he is an Icon for SE, I think that he should be in charge.

i dont blame him for stuff, however he is the concept designer, director and character designer. he comes up with the story and for 358/2 days he wrote the dialogue. he did say he hated writing and doesnt want to do it again. he chooses a lot of what goes on with the game. he came up with it. honestly, i love almost everything about kh so i give thanks to nomura and the teams used for development. he has said b4 that he listens to other SE members and if he likes the idea he goes with it. u can tell in the interviews that he really is open to other opinions and ideas.

One thing people should understand is that game development takes time. With Kingdom Hearts and the kind of caliber the game exudes takes months & more often years of planning & developing. I have much respect for what Nomura does and blaming him on irrelevent things puts more pressure on him to create these games. So please everyone give the guy some credit and show support for him. Nomura has a lot of pressure on him as it is.

Actually the games take so long to come out because they add new stuff to most English games, and the actual localization process is absolutely massive. The hundreds of lines of dialog have to be casted for and recorded, not to mention balancing and testing.

But if they did this stuff at the same time it was done in Japan the games wold probably come out a few months earlier.

But that's all Square Enix, has nothing to do with him.

5 years ago that might've been true but they're still using last gen tech which is a lot cheaper and quicker than it used to be, I mean SE's creedo must be "KEEP COST DOWN!!!!!!"

Jjust look at ReCoded [an enhanced port with recycled sets] SE basically have it done and they only announced it a few months ago.

The main reasons BBS, Days and coded took song is because hes got more fingers in pies than a leper at a cookery course. Plus it wouldnt kill SE to not announce games years before they come out and to not be stretched so far making so many games, I mean the Kingdom Team are just stuck in development hell on Versus 13.

We don't know who else too blame. We don't know their names or anything. Can't really blame someone if you don't know their position. And we're too lazy to look it up. :s

Honestly, I just don't complain at all. I mean I ain't the one making the games, and we're lucky to even be getting them. If they announce far ahead of time, so what? It gives us something to look forward to. If theirs something that doesn't make into the game, so what? I didn't make it, I don't know the details. So I prefer to just sit back and let the teams do their thing.

So wait what! then who owns Kingdom hearts and who is the creator?

nomura created it its just the point that the games are developed by teams not just one person. also even tho he creates and directs, others write dialogue, create the battle system and disney limits things so that violence is at a minimum.

In which I rant about Nomura haters. If you're a hater (no offense intended), I'd suggest not reading.

Nothing is perfect. People who expect KH to be and find it disappointing will of course go and blame it on the one guy who rose to greater fame through it and the series director, Nomura. Personally, I wouldn't set expectations so high and act like you deserve better when the guy's working on like 5 projects at the same time, all in a high responsibility position.

Yes, he's in charge of the project, but it's not like he's the only person in the development team. You have people working on scenarios, character designs, modelling, rigging, etc. It's a huge team project, and they're giving up their personal life in exchange for making people happy through these games. If you think you can do better, then I'd like to see you try.

I wish Nomura was never forced into using Twitter, because now, fans will keep harrassing him about KH3, when he's said countless times why it's put on hold due to the current situation. People who think only KH1 and 2 are real games, and everything else is a useless side story that he's wasting his time on. Well guess what? Be grateful that we're getting anything at all. Part of the reason he makes these games is to keep fans interested in the series while they wait for the next title.

Nomura created it, but it's owned by Square-Enix and Disney.

Imo, I'd rather wait a long time, and get one really good, well-thought out game, than a couple small, shoddy ones. :/

Though my faith in the KH series has been degenerating ever since Re:CoM came out, so I guess Days and BBS aren't really the problem.

I'll say this, TN should take a page from Hideo Kojima and just concentrate solely on one game instead of stretching himself out so far, plus SE have a pack of prickwillows working in PR I mean whose brilliant idea was it to start localising back in November until at most April (Nemoy's retirement) but release it in September?

Infact SE should wholely follow Konami and Kojima Productions lead and localise during Japanse development ie MGS4s WORLDWIDE release instead of 9 months of BBS.

Sure look at Peace Walker also on PSP they just announced it last year at E3, they had localisation done by last December and it was released just 2 months ago only a month after its japanese release no 9 months of hype. SE, Nomura and his teams should take notes.

Poor Nomura. I used to give him the finger too. Then, thanks to this, I finally figured out that he's just the shield so the other guys don't get burned. He's not bad himself, it's just he's the guy in front of the stuff that is bad. So we use what we have and stick on him, pitchforks and dogs at the ready. Poor guy.

Well, if he can't take it, he shouldn't be the director. :/ He probably knew he would get blamed for everything when he became that role; people always blame the first person they see. That's just how life works.

Two different companies. Square Enix announces their games early, revealing just the right amount of information to get people talking. Guarantees sales. Now Konami, that company releases games like crazy, Square Enix comparatively has more finesse.

I said it in another topic, but if every Kingdom Hearts game just had a number on the end, the fans would be much more satisfied.

because he's the one who's always the one who gets interviewed and normaly says that he can't reveal much information like for example the Kingdom Hearts 3DS Timeline or who really is the secret boss of BBS and if that secret boss will be the main enemy after the event of KH3

Well that's not directly his fault in the first place.

And why would he reveal secrets like those anyways?

it'd be like if they revealed Vanitas' identity in the first interview about BBS.

There's something called an 'information ban.' Until that's lifted, he has to keep things either incredibly vague, or completely unknown. It's business. And really, why would he reveal information like that anyways? It's a "secret boss" for a reason, and with KH3 still so far away, why would he even mention it at all?

Anyways, I'm with hatok. The Nomura hate is getting ridiculous, and really just plain unjustified. The guy really doesn't deserve this.
