Is FFX/X-2 HD worth buying on PS4 if you already own it on PS3?

Recommended Posts

Looks like Square is milking it. Lol.

Yeah, why not? Great excuse to make money. You said it yourself you wanted all the mainline games on PS4. Well here you go, most of these ports won't be anything special.

I do, I just think the release is a bit over hyped. I also think they could have given us a little more incentive for purchasing it again like a little more content. I would have purchased Type-0 HD with or without the FFXV demo, so I think the demo would have been better placed on FFX PS4. THEN I would have had reason to go at it day one. Maybe a secret movie, another audio drama, etc... Just some kind of reason for buying it for a fourth time.

Overhyped? Lol. They've clearly said themselves the point of this release is just to get it out on another platform. So you do want X-3? Haha.

Of course I want X-3, but I'm hoping it's gameplay would be similar to the first FFX or at least different from X-2.

X-2 had traditional FF gameplay. Lol.

It was a bit different from early FF's. Another reason I want X-3 to be different from X-2 is it's story. I don't want those cringe-worthy scenes from X-2 to be recreated. I felt like I was watching Dora the Explorer when Yuna was uncontrollably dancing at the beginning, and the music made me cringe as well. I really want X-3 to be a classic like the original FFX. No pun intended, I respect the opinions of others and I'm grateful that X-2 started the sequel trend in FF. I just really want X-3 to be different.

It had the job system and ATB. How much more traditional does it get? Lol.

It has multiple trailers, its own site, and costs ten dollar more than the original version did at launch (twenty dollars more in canada)

It's pretty clearly being hyped as something more than a port of a port. It even has new preorder bonuses/collectors editions

It could be worse

it could be like the audio drama

2D sprites. Faster actions. Five party members. Proper equipment. Inability to change jobs during battle. bring back rows. there are lots of ways to make it more traditional than that. Heck you can't even equip weapons in X-2

Wrong. There is only ONE trailer. Less than other new gen ports. And no it doesn't, it's sharing the PS3/Vita website. Oh yeah, a steelcase. Lol. Just standard pricing for PS4 games.

it's not a PS4 game though

it's a PS2 game

charge accordingly

It's a PS4 game that is a port of a PS3 game that is a port of a PS2 game I agree it shouldn't have the price it has now but I'm going to guess that this will get a price drop in like a month

Yeah and 30 minutes of gameplay, plus that company's gaming department is a joke.

Lol, MGS games are nearly as poular as FF's. It was more like 7 hours of gameplay if you did everything and not just the main story. 30 bucks would have been fair and I would have bought it day one. I'm clearly not the only one who thinks so.

but the length doesn't matter anyways. It's like how you can argue that doing everything in FFXHD makes the game 400 hours (Even though only like 15 of them are actually enjoyable, just sayin)

Like I'm currently replaying a game where after beating it you get an ability that lets you go back and replay every level and 100% them. This effectively "doubles" the length of the game adds "replay" value, but it's still mostly playing the game a second time.

What really matters here is that FFXHD is a collection of two old PS2 games. Remastering them costs relatively little. They added some extra stuff for the remaster, that costs a bit more, some of the content hadn't been released worldwide yet, so that's another factor. So 20 dollars per game was fair, if you wanted it new. It quickly dropped to the value people were willing to pay for it though, which is 10 dollars per game, more 7.50. Now Square has gone and released the games for 25 dollars each based soely on the fact that the game being on PS4 somehow adds ten dollars of value

It is ridiculous how you ignore when people are right in their criticisms of anything Square Enix do. More accurately, anything Square Enix does that involve games you like.

The price of the FFX Remaster is a joke on PS4 and they are literally just capitalising on the fact that the PS3 still co-exists with the PS4. Sadly, this happens with every game that is currently cross-gen. The PS4 version of FFX does not do enough to justify buying the game that was released last year at a lower price. Square Enix already pulled this bs with Type-0 HD earlier in the year when they bundled the XV demo in it at slapped $60/€70 on it and all because it was a PS4/X1 game and they could.

I know you could probably play the double-standard card that if KH 1.5 & 2.5 were to release on PS4, but at least if it were to happen to KH they probably won't break the collections up again or they might even add in KH3D to it. FFX on PS4 doesn't do anything overly different from the PS3/Vita version that released over 12 months ago. Heck, even the Limited Edition for Europe that has the artbook says: "the artbook was used as an incentive for the PS3 version". Which just shows they can't even be bothered changing the LE outside of the steel case.

If people want to buy the FFX collection on PS4 then that is their business, but if the PS3 version was €40 at launch why is the PS4 one €55 at launch a year later?

Correction: I like nearly every Square Enix game!

It's their prerogative. Honestly, more money for Square Enix!

Agreed completely, bro.
