Chronomagister 152 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure if you guys are aware that SE is making a new Dissidia that's due to come out this year but i know that some people that are just buying this game purely for the graphics upgrade. But for me there are a lot of problems that i see. Here are a list of some of them 1. It isnt a continuation of dissidia. It's a reboot. There's an interview where SE says it starts it all over, Cosmos and Chaos are gone, replaced by new gods, Cid of the Lufaine isn't there anymore, nor is Shinryu. The entire story of Chaos being a manikin for a war against Onrac in FF1 World A, entering World B (Dissidia world), starting the war as a means to make Chaos get strong enough to return to World A and for Cid to have his revenge is gone. That was an amazing story and there are SO many ways they could have gone with that. 2, No more FF multiverse. This game is only for gameplay purposes and does not contain a storymode at all. Meaning all the games are all separate again. 3. No more Dissidia being a prequel to FF1, where after all the heroes return to their worlds, the Warrior of Light walks towards Castle Cornelia, which is the first scene from the original Final Fantasy. 4. No more RPG customization. Meaning: No more interchangeable attacks (you are limited to only 2 bravery attacks and 1 HP attack, which are preset. No Equipment system AT ALL No weapon system AT ALL No item system AT ALL No accessory system AT ALL No RPG elements AT ALL 5 Its just a fighting game, no story elements at all. not even any cutscenes or anything that makes it even remotely final fantasy. Its just not fair. Rant over Edited May 1, 2015 by Chronomagister
Sora96 17,256 Posted May 1, 2015 So it's the Curtain Call of fighting games? Works for me.
Mysterious Figure 353 Posted May 1, 2015 1. I get that it's a reboot but I think chaos and cosmos are still in since the arcade version has a game mode called chaos vs cosmos 2. There's no story mode cause it's an arcade game so it obviously would focus more on competitive gameplay 3. This is possibly true, but like I said there's no official story yet so no idea 4. While they have removed a ton of the customisation your kinda exaggerating here, there are 7 preset brave attacks (3 ground, 3 air, 1 while dashing), and 1 equippable hp attack out of a choice of two All in all I'm still kinda disappointed, but you never know 3v3 and summons look pretty awesome at least

Kingdom Of Me 171 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) You say all these things that upset you.... and all the things you listed makes me happy, and more ready to by the game!! I've played the first Dissidia 1) I couldn't care less about the story in the first game, Good Vs Evil, Emo kids VS Emo Villains, Light darkness whatever, I didn't care. I love story in games, but after hearing Clouds depressing victory quotes, I didn't want to hear anyone talk, let alone tell me a story. 2) I hate Multiveres, ever since Marvel and DC it has just became a lame excuse to avoid continuity, I don't care that Dissidia is Canon or not, I don't want to consider it canon, so it is not canon. 3) Okay... 4) No more customization.... That is a really good thing.... I bought the game for the cool fights, not for the counter intuitive menu and "crafting" system... I hated the move set system, the game never needed it. I also hated the progression and leveling up felt ungodly slow and pointless. I'm glad that they took all that away and have them focus on the most important part of Dissidia... the fighting. So i'm now more inclined to get it after they took out the things that made the game feel slower and more bogged down in the first game. Dissidia is a fast pace spectical fighter, and it needs to be nothing more! Edited May 1, 2015 by Kingdom Of Me

Dissidia is a fast pace spectical fighter, and it needs to be nothing more! ... Ok, for one thing, I don't see why one character's quotes would convince you not to care about the story anymore, the story was very compelling and entertaining to watch unfold. And how exactly is a multiverse an excuse to "avoid continuity"? Multiverses are built on continuity, you can't avoid continuity entirely and call it a multiverse, it just doesn't work that way. And many people consider it to be canon anyway. The customization is kind of half of the things that makes this an RPG style fighting game. And most people actually like getting to customize their character, because some moves look cooler and deal damage in a more efficient way than others. Yes, the fighting is important, but the Final Fantasy series has always been about strategy as well as fighting, both before and during the fight. Most hard core and casual Final Fantasy fans appreciate that sort of style of gaming and rightfully deserve to expect it in a Final Fantasy based fighting game. If anything, the styles of both previous games got me as a fan more invested into the gameplay style of RPGs. And while all of these changes might be fine for an arcade setting where you're only going to spend so much time at one booth anyway, in terms of a home console setting, I'm with Chrono in that so far these decisions are very disappointing. It's good for this game series to be fast and a spectacle, but that's not the only thing it ever was, and it's certainly not the only thing it was ever meant to be. Of course this is your opinion and that is fine. They made cloud depressing and moody, and I said that as more of a joke then anything. I didn't like the voice actors or how some FF characters were portrayed. If Square didn't want to include a story or RPG elements then clearly they don't consider it much more than a spectacle fighter either...
Sorarocks93 678 Posted May 1, 2015 Eh, works for me. I'm not too keen on the stories connecting and FF1 having a prequel and all so yeah.
Isaix 924 Posted May 1, 2015 No story mode? well that's disappointing,I really liked how the characters from different FF games interacted with each other in the cutscenes,it was great and since its coming on the PS4,I was expecting something even better, but nope. Even if its a reboot,as long as there were cutscenes, I would have been happy. If there's no story mode hopefully that means they'll put all there efforts in the gameplay and add tons of new characters.

Oooooorrrrrrr, they realized that they wanted this to be an ARCADE experience and they made the changes they did in order to fit within the experience that an arcade would bring. Unless they absolutely say that they plan on not including any of the story elements or strategy elements for the home console version, then I seriously doubt they just don't value what they've valued for years in a game where they've clearly showed at least twice now that they value that stuff. Shulk 8,623 Posted May 1, 2015 The story mode in Dissidia 012 was boring. The dungeons felt more like a chore to get through, honestly. This is a fighting game, and it's good that they're focusing just on the gameplay. As someone who hasn't cared for almost every single one of Square's new games, I can say this is the game that's probably going to push me to get a PS4. It's looking fantastic, and I'm glad they're not just sticking to making it story-based only. The lack of customization is kind of disappointing, but a lot of great fighting games don't really have much customization. It's not that big of a deal. hatok 6,413 Posted May 2, 2015 Duodecim concluded the story. The first game was the final cycle. They could only go backwards now On the note of there being no story... I feel like they can't pull that when it comes to PS4, people will expect a campaign for a console game Where was it even confirmed there was no story? Does there being new gods confirm there's some lore already? Where was any of this confirmed anyways? I can't find anything with google

Xiggy 26 Posted May 20, 2015 I'm pretty sure that Nomura said there would be differences between the Japanese Arcade version and the US and European version. Like, we'll get both 50+ caracters all included in the game and stuff. As for me, I'd like to have a lil' story mode yeah. I was kinda fun to watch those FF guys talking to each others etc. I mean, I'd love a scene with Ramza and Vaan. "Where do you come from? -From your futur Ivalice. -Wow, sounds neat! -Doubt it, I'm from centuries in your futur, Vieras, Moogles, Bangas and stuff have all been wiped out, there is no airship anymore, obscurantism, murder and stuff. Kinda crappy actually. But I did met two guys who appears to know you, Balthier and Luso. -Wait, wat?" Those dialogues were the occasions to have plenty of well-advised fan-service and references, and I'd love to still have some.
