The reason behind the idea of Sora being in Smash come from the fact that Brawl introduced the first two 3rd party characters into the series, Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog. Both aren't Nintendo exclusive characters, but they have had Nintendo titles in the past and they are incredibly popular, so they were put into the game due to high demand from fans. Sonic has been able to return in the latest Smash as one of the primary set of returning veterans, but Snake, as of yet, has not returned. However, he wasn't the sole 3rd party character, as Mega Man (Capcom) and Pac-Man (Namco) have been included into the franchise, adding to a total of three 3rd party characters who also all happen to be company mascots like Mario. And now Nintendo has opened a voting poll for new characters to be included in Smash as DLC. You can vote for any character from any franchise and company you wish (NOT just Nintendo), list the game they come from, and explain the reason that you think they should be in the game. You can vote as many times as you wish, either with a different character each time or you could just vote for the same character every time to increase the amount of votes they get. Everyone is voting for Sora and have been expressing their desire for Sora to be in Smash because they all feel that Sora would make a nice fit for Smash, and I agree. Sora has had multiple Nintendo releases, with a game on the Gameboy Advanced, two on the DS, and a major title on the 3DS, plus his varied skill set of physical and magical special abilities, he would make a very unique and interesting RPG oriented character like Ness, Marth, and Shulk. Not to mention he's got plenty of alternate costumes to choose from and if you exclude anything Disney related it might work out well (although Disney might still have to be involved in the talks, but miracles could happen, Wreck-It-Ralph proved that much). Sora/KH really doesn't have that importance to Nintendo. What I don't actually like about that ballot is that people would rather prefer a fat dinosaur. I don't care for K. Rool, but any Nintendo character is a viable option. K. Rool makes much more sense than Sora. It's going to stick to Nintendo characters, or characters who are important in Nintendo history. People have forgotten that thanks to the inclusion of Sonic and Snake, and now people think any freaking video game character ever made can get into a Nintendo crossover. Sora really has no place in a tribute to the history of Nintendo, especially when more deserving first-party Nintendo characters aren't included at all.
