About FFXV's combat system...

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious as to what you guys think about Final Fantasy XV's combat as of now.

I kinda miss the manual weapon switching in E3 2013... wish we didn't have to fish through a menu. But it works well enough. I don't ever use warp dodge... any tips for usage?

And...

What do you guys think of how Armiger works? And did you guys request that they add in new Phantom Sword sets for the game?

i love armiger. its quite the ability

I think it's a totally great skill. Not too overpowered, and has the right mix of "flashy". We saw Noct wielding 13 swords (I believe) in E3 and Post TGS. I just hope it has much, much more flashy type of skills other than "Oh, now you can unlimitedly use techniques". I know there will be upgraded Magic in the mode, but I just think Armiger needs something... more.

I do like the touch they added when you get all the Phantom Swords in Duscae, though.

It's a little clunky. I'm sure it'll get less so when more options, but I wasn't the biggest fan of it in the demo. Not enough hits connecting to make it feel fun, which had a lot to do with the overall pacing.

I just mash square like I would X in Kingdom Hearts

Armiger is amazing, although I played the demo for several hours before learning it was even a thing

Overall the combat is as great as I expected

Although incomplete, I think it's something different for the series. A welcome change in my opinion, but then again I've waited for this game for years.

It feels like Kingdom Hearts meets Smash Bros. There's an undeniable weight to your attacks instead of being able to automatically cancel your moves with stuff like dodging. Taking on hordes feels difficult, like Crisis Core too. It requires you to think quite strategically in my opinion.
