Film Five Nights at Freddy's is getting a legit Movie.

Recommended Posts

So most of us on this site has heard of Five Nights at Freddy's, the crazy horror game that you either love it to bits or think it's the worst thing to have ever existed in the history of time. If you like Five Nights at Freddy's like me, then you may be excited or dreadful to hear that Warner Bros. is making an official legit Hollywood adaption of Five Nights at Freddy's.

Here's some info on it:

As for me, I'm actually excited for the movie even if it sucks compared to the game. I think the movie by itself will hopefully be great. Scott Cawthon is supposed to have a role with the movie, so I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out if it does hit the big screen.

I wonder how many replies to this are going to be "weehh, FNaF is over rated, weehhh."

On topic, I think it's a cool success story for Scott. He went from obscurity to making a horror game that's become a staple in conversation. I think it can make a good movie, given that there's a good story behind all of this, and very good characters which can scene steal if handled well.

I'm surprised by how far Five Nights at Freddy's has come. Scott probably is, too.
I normally don't like watching horror movies, but I think I might make an exception if it's FNaF. Can't wait. :)

I know right? And Youtuber's have done one hell of a job promoting his work.  Hats off to him, I say! The guy's an entrepreneur now.

Three games in the span of two years, and now A GODDAMN MOVIE? WHAT'S NEXT?! A TOY LINE?!

I dunno: the last time Freddy Fazbear's did toys, it didn't end well.

Though if Scott were to actually market the little plushies you can get on your desk, I think those would sell like hot cakes.

Ironically, it's precisely because I'm a fan that I'm somewhat dreading this movie.

Part of it is the poor track record of game-to-movie adaptations. Adapting any media from a game or even to a game is challenging, and I can't shake off that elitist "Weehh weehh it's gonna suck cuz movies aren't the exact same experience as games weehh weehh!" Normally I'm open-minded with adaptations, as I know not to expect them to be 1:1 recreations of the original source (if they tried that, why would we need the adaptation?). But the stupid fan part of me wants to covet what I and a lot of others thought made the games special to begin with, and it feels like the transition to the big screen will screw it up.

I've watched many a horror movie and I know how they go. There's a solid chance the movie would focus more on flat human characters most of the audience won't care about. It's not the faceless personality-less security guard that stole the show; it's the animatronics. They're the characters I'll care about. They're the element that the fanbase saw the potential in and made dozens of theories and headcanons about. I'm afraid that, following typical horror movie conventions, any potential personality in those characters (implied or cooked up by the fanbase) will be thrown out in favor of making them generic horror monsters that get maybe 20 minutes tops of screentime.

That's the cool thing about the indie scene. They're not bound by sticking to conventions to appeal to the widest possible audience, because most indie games aren't about the money, they're about the art. FNaF is a simple work of art, arguably exaggeratedly so by the fanbase, and seeing it thrown into the mainstream -- oh. Oh god, I do not believe this. I used the "m" word. What am I, a hipster?

For all my worries, I am happy for Scott, though. He really made it big with his haunted chicken duck pizza cupcakes. If he has input with the movie, then I'll give him some faith that he'll make sure they do it right. It's better to have faith than to sound like a hipster. (My apologizes.)

I know right? Before Scott was struggling to even pay his bills. He was going to give up his dream of being a game developer and was going to pick a new career before FNAF came out. Now it's going to be made into a movie! I'm so happy for him, now he'll be able to make all the games he wants. The man deserves it.

...god dammit...I can't believe that this happening...if Kubrick is behind it, that wouldn't be a good thing....however...if this sucks, I'm gonna laugh at those who were excited to see it and were severely disappointed.

I don't know: I'm no fan of Stanley Kubrick either, but if he were to somehow come back to life, I think it'd be an interesting movie.

Just what we needed. A unnecessary movie to a overrated franchise.

posts like these ruin my topics. Honestly if you don't care about the franchise, just ignore it please. I mean seriously it is not THAT hard to ignore stuff like this.
