"Huh?!" Aspar's eyes widened, surprised by the sudden turn in events. "That's not what happened, though! Goku and Piccolo both defeated Raditz... What's this all about?"

 

Kondai was also surprised, but didn't express it the same way that her friend did. "Do you know what's causing this corruption? We've never heard about anything that can result in something like this..." She stared at the scroll.

"Inconceivable." was all that Pyrus could muster.  Sure he was shocked to see changes of what originally occurred.  But he also can't help feeling fascinated by it.  He finds that to be a bit strange.  Nevertheless, he wonders how such a thing could happen.

 

Renco nods disapprovingly over the matter.  "It's certainly not right.  So, you called us to correct this mistake?" he asks Trunks.

Aize / Tatsu / Trunks

 

"That looks troubling... weren't Goku and Piccolo supposed to defeat Raditz?" Aize asked.

 

"And wasn't Goku supposed to die with Raditz?" Tatsu added.

 

"That is correct. You see, this is the corruption I was speaking of. History is being altered. That is why you must travel to this time period and undo the damage."

 

Trunks then rolled the scroll back up and held it up to the others. "To do this, I'll transport you to the time period. However, only two of you can go at a time."

 

"How come?" Tatsu asked.

 

"There is only so much room that the time-stream can hold for outsiders. Any more and we could do more harm than good," Trunks explained.

 

"The ways of time of strange. I don't really get it. But hey, as long as I can get a good fight, I don't mind," Tatsu said.

 

"I'm afraid that you won't be getting that chance just yet. I want Kondai and Rencoe to go instead," Trunks said.

 

"Huh? Why them?!" Tatsu argued.

 

"I believe they will be most effective in this battle. They are quick to strike and can provide for a distraction while Goku and Piccolo battle Raditz."

 

Trunks turned to Kondai and Rencoe as Tatsu growled and turned away in a huff. "Remember what I told you, and you should do fine. Please take this scroll and you will be teleported to the battle," he finished, handing the scroll to Kondai.

Kondai took the scroll and nodded at Trunks. "I will make sure that we succeed in our mission, Master Trunks." She spoke in a confident tone, then turned to Renco. "Are you ready to leave? We'll leave as soon as you're ready." She informed her partner for the mission.

 

Aspar seemed a little let down that he couldn't go along on the mission, but still decided to cheer on his friend. "Good luck, Kondai! I'm sure you'll be able to fix the time... thingy, no problem!" He grinned, and shot her a thumbs up. He also looked at Renco. "Good luck to you, too. Come back safely!"

 

Kondai smiled at her friend's enthusiasm. "Thank you, Aspar." She thanked her old training partner, and prepared to go out on her first mission with Trunks and the others.

"Good luck." Bluu said, having hung back and kept silent.  She was trying to come up with her own reasons as to why this distortion was happening, and how.

"Right."  Renco answered to Kondai.  He admittedly was surprised to be one of the first to go for this kind of task.  But he was more than willing to fix this mistake in history.  And it's a nice bonus to see two legends in action.  He made a quick turn to Aspar and responds:  "Uh, thanks."  Facing Trunks and Kondai, Renco says:  "I promise to help make this right.  Now let's get to it."

 

Pyrus was still thinking when he heard Trunks announce the two individuals.  Looking ahead, he nods in a kind of understanding.  He mentions:  "May the both of you prevail."

With Kondai and Renco ready, they were transported in a flash of light to the point in time where the famous battle commenced...

 

-- Age 761, Spinach Wastes --

 

Raditz / Goku / Piccolo / Gohan

 

A flurry of harsh sounds of fists colliding echoed through the air as Goku, Piccolo, and Raditz were fighting so fast that they were temporarily invisible to the naked eye. However, Raditz sent both Goku and Piccolo flying back, causing Goku to cry out in pain as they both fazed back into reality and landed on the hard ground below. Quickly picking themselves up, they charged back at Raditz, who had just settled himself back on ground level as well, standing smugly with his arms crossed over his chest.

 

"I'll give you one more chance, Kakarot," Raditz said as the two came forward. The three fighters engaged in another series of blows, Raditz easily blocking every strike that his brother and the green man threw at him.

 

"Come now, brother. Join your fellow Saiyans! Your family!" Raditz yelled, disappearing from sight and reappearing behind Goku and Piccolo. In a millisecond, he sent them flying to the sides with two elbow strikes to their backs, then targeted Goku alone as he recovered midair.

 

"Saturday Crush!" Raditz yelled, hurling a purple blast of energy at Goku, blasting him back onto the ground. Raditz jumped forward into the air and landed with this foot stomping on Goku's chest, causing him even more pain.

 

"How about this: I'll spare you along with your son and the green man. Sound like a deal?" Raditz said, referring, of course to Piccolo as well as Gohan, who was still locked inside Raditz's space pod in a nearby crater.

 

"N-no way! It doesn't matter what you try; I'm not going to join you!" Goku replied through an aching voice.

 

"Hmm... then I guess it's decided..." Raditz said, preparing to finish off his brother. But then suddenly, the green scouter attached to his face went off, and simultaneously, Gohan burst out of the crater, destroying the pod in the process.

 

"Stop beating up my DADDY!" He cried, rushing towards Raditz in a blind fury. This would be the moment that would determined Raditz's doomed fate... however... Raditz's eyes began to glow red and was surrounded by a dark purple aura. Anticipating Gohan, he side-stepped the young boy, who landed and rolled onto the ground.

 

At that moment, Kondai and Renco appeared nearby on the battlefield.

 

"Die!" Raditz then shot another Saturday Crush towards Gohan.

 

"No! Gohan!" Goku cried, seemingly about to see his son die.

Renco didn't have a chance to look around when he saw the attack aimed at Gohan.  Without hesitation he flew forward as quickly as he could.  The blast makes a small explosion, smoke rising up.  But a little further away, Renco held Gohan in his arms.  Putting him down gently Renco gives a stern look at Raditz.  "Very despicable to go at a child like that.  You must be punished."  Cracking his knuckles, Renco puts up his hands as fists, ready for a fight.

While Renco went to protect Gohan, Kondai decided to fly over to Goku and Piccolo, and try to protect those two. She focused on her opponent, noting the strange aura that appeared around him suddenly. "You're not an ordinary foe... However, we will still take you down before you can hurt these three any more than you already have." She said, and clenched her fists.

Raditz / Goku / Piccolo / Trunks

 

"What?!" Raditz cried as his scouter went off again after reading Renco's and Kondai's power levels. "There are more of you here?!"

 

Goku, along with Piccolo who went to his side, were surprised by their appearance too.

 

"So are these friends of yours?" Piccolo said, the less surprised of the two due to his inherent coolness.

 

"Uh, I dunno," Goku said, still in pain but managing to get back to his feet. "But, heh-heh, I'm sure that they're people we can trust," Goku said.

 

"Hmph. Regardless, it doesn't really matter to me. Just stay out of my way!" Piccolo gruffly said to Renco and Kondai, returning to a fighting stance.

 

"Sorry about Piccolo, he's kinda grumpy," Goku joked, making Piccolo growl. "But yeah, it'd be a big help if you could help us. Do you mind?"

 

"Remember, don't say anything too revealing. It'll cause more damage to the timeline," Trunks reminded the time travelers through a strange communication method.

Huh.  Right.  Renco thought to himself.  Turning to Goku and Piccolo, he replies:  "Not at all."  Turning back to Raditz, he then says:  "But if you don't mind, I'll start things off."  Yelling, Renco charges towards the enemy.  He begins with a tackling kick, swerves to the left and makes a left chop at Raditz' back.  Then he circles to the front, follows with a right uppercut, a two-hit open palm thrust to the torso, and finishes with a sideward kick.

Raditz

 

Raditz's eyes lit up and his purple aura flickered around him. He blocked Renco's kick, ducked under his chop, dodged the uppercut, sidestepped his thrust and caught his leg on his last kick.

 

"You're a fool if you think you even have a fraction of the power needed to take me on!" Raditz cackled, lifting Renco by his leg into the air and slamming him on the ground behind them before throwing him back towards the group.

 

He then focused on Goku and Piccolo, filling his hands with purple energy. "Double Sunday!" He cried, as he shot two beams of energy from his hands at the two. Goku and Piccolo evaded the blast by jumping straight up into the air. Raditz followed them as they all stayed floating in the sky above Renco, Kondai and Gohan.

On the ground Renco let out a disappointed sigh.  Propelling himself up, he land on his feet.  Rolling his neck around, he mumbles:  "Okay, wasn't expecting that."  He looks up to see Goku, Piccolo, and Raditz hovering in the air.  "Alright."  Renco flies up, preparing himself for his next move.

Kondai was also surprised by the Saiyan's sudden attack against Renco and the others. She joined the group in the air. "We'll need to work together if we want to defeat this opponent. Does anyone have any ideas?" She asked the group, already working on her own plan as a backup idea.

Goku / Piccolo

 

As Raditz eyed the group and waited for their next move, Goku and Piccolo began discussing battle tactics in order to get the jump on their enemy.

 

"Goku, have you developed any new techniques?" Piccolo asked.

 

"Heh heh. Nope. Sorry," Goku replied.

 

"Tch. I figured you haven't, you dolt," Piccolo snarked. "Luckily, I have. Its a special technique that is sure to kill this bastard. But there's a catch," Piccolo explained.

 

"And what's that?" Goku asked.

 

"I need time to charge my energy. Five minutes at the most. Do you think you can manage that?" Piccolo asked, speaking to not only Goku, but to Kondai and Renco as well.

 

"Sure, no problem. With all three of us, it won't be any problem at all. Right guys?" He asked Renco and Kondai.

"Right.  Of course not."  Renco replies back to the fighters.  Turning to Kondai, he says:  "Hey, earth girl.  I'll rush in and try to grab this guys' attention.  In the meantime, look for any blind-spot or opening that comes up and feel free to join in."  And with that, Renco flies on over to Raditz.  For the moment, Renco just delivers a flurry of punches all over his enemy's torso, wanting to see further of what he would do.

"The three of us can keep him busy for that long." Kondai agreed with Goku and Renco. After Renco suggested a plan, Kondai nodded. "Alright. I'll make it quick." She responded to Renco, then watched his battle with Raditz. While Raditz was distracted, she quickly flew towards the two, and delivered a kick to his face. After this, she delivered her own barrage of punches.

Raditz / Goku

 

Raditz managed to counter Renco's flurry of strikes with ease. However, Kondai's surprise kick made him lose focus, and now struggled to block both her and Renco's strikes at the same time.

 

While Piccolo stayed behind and began charging ki into the tips of his fingers, Goku sprang into action, and tried to attack Raditz while Renco and Kondai had him on the ropes, but the Saiyan warrior slipped away from Kondai and Renco at the last minute and battled Goku head on. While the Turtle School student held his own, Raditz took advantage of his fatigue, landing punches and kicks to Goku's face and body. The second Goku had a chance to counter-attack, Raditz phased behind him and kicked him back towards Kondai and Renco.

 

"Agh... man... I'm hurting all over..." Goku said. "Still, we need more time for Piccolo. Okay guys, I want you to give him all you got. I think I might be able to use something that'll slow him down for good!" Goku said, jumping into the air.

 

"Oh, what's this? You can't run from me Kakarot!" Raditz said, already making his way to Goku, but leaving Kondai and Renco the opportunity to go through with Goku's tactic.

(Note to self:  don't wait till the last day to do homework.  :sleep:)

 

Renco stares up as Goku heads up and Raditz follows behind him.  This battle was starting to wear him (Renco) down a little.  Clenching his fists, he thinks:  Okay, where to now?  I attacked him at every spot I could think of.  Hm.  Wait, maybe...  Renco clamps his palms together and aims at Raditz.  With energy gathering in them, he fires two charged ki blasts, one at Raditzs' feet and the other at his head.  Next Renco flies up and tries to grab ahold of Raditz's tail, trying to figure out something.

"Keep him there!" Kondai shouted up to Renco. She could try using one of her more powerful energy blasts, but she didn't want to hurt her comrade. Instead, she also fired a few ki blasts, then flew over to the two, and aimed a punch directly at Raditz's stomach. She hoped that the two could hold him down while Piccolo and Goku continued to prepare...

Raditz / Goku / Piccolo / Trunks / Tatsu

 

"Gah!" Raditz cried, both Renco's and Kondai's blasts connecting with his body. But before Renco could grab a hold of Raditz's tail, and before Kondai could deliver her punch, Raditz instinctively gathered his ki and used an Explosive Wave to repel both of them.

 

However, it left Raditz wide enough, allowing the far-away Goku a fair shot. "Okay! Here goes!" Goku said, quickly cupping his hands together by his side.

 

"Ka... Me... Ha... Me... HA!" Goku cried, shooting the trademark blue blast of energy at Raditz. The armored Saiyan was shocked to see the blast coming his way and quickly descended down to the ground to dodge. However, using his mastery of the technique, Goku bent the trajectory of the blast so that it followed Raditz down into the air. After dashing away on the ground, the blast still continued to follow Raditz, making another turn before hitting the ground. Getting enough distance from the blast, Raditz turned on his heel, and stuck out his hand. He managed to block the Kamehameha wave, picking up a huge cloud of dust and remnants of the blast itself.

 

"Now's my chance!" Goku said aloud, quickly propelling himself through the air and behind Raditz, who could not see in front of him due to the dust, and grabbed ahold of him, locking him in a full nelson.

 

"What the-?! Kakarot, what are you-"! Raditz cried, struggling to break free.

 

"Piccolo! Do it now!!" Goku yelled to his green skinned allied several feet away.

 

"Alright, it's ready!!" Piccolo cried, the energy in his fingertips pulsating like electricity. "Makankosappo!!" Piccolo cried, pointing his fingers towards Goku and Raditz, shooting out a drill-like beam of energy. Both Raditz and Goku were impaled by the blast, Raditz letting out a cry of defeat, while Goku simply laughed it off in his usual goofy manner, knowing that his sacrifice was not in vain.

 

Piccolo began heavily panting. His technique has taken a bit of a toll on his body. "Serves you right, you bastard," Piccolo cursed to the fallen Raditz.

 

"Good job everyone! The mission was a success. Time to report back in," Trunks said to Kondai and Renco. As Piccolo walked towards Goku and Raditz, Trunks used the Scroll of Eternity to teleport the two young warriors back to the Time Nest. As they disappeared, Piccolo stopped and looked behind him, wondering where the two young warriors that appeared to help him and Goku had gone...

 

-- Age 850: Time Nest --

 

Kondai and Renco re-appeared before Trunks and the other Time Patrollers in a flash of light, Trunks wearing a proud smile on his face.

 

"Thanks to your help, this event in history has been restored," He informed, holding up the Scroll of Eternity to reveal that the purple aura had disappeared. "I'll put this scroll back where it belongs. Until then, you all are free to go back to TokiToki City and talk amongst yourselves. I'll meet with you again when something else comes up."

In the center of TokiToki City was a huge hub area where the various other Time Patrollers stood and conversed with themselves, while the small robots operated by Capsule Corporation scurried around and ran the several meeting points that surrounded the area.

 

The group chose to stay in the center of the plaza, still unsure and unknowing about the layout.

 

"Hmph. You guys might have got that mission done, but if I was sent in there, I would have took care of Raditz in a fraction of the time you spent," Tatsu gruffed to Renco and Kondai, still upset that he hasn't had a chance to battle yet.

"I'm sure you would have."  Renco replied with a hint of sarcasm and  a bit of satisfaction.  There was probably a better way he could have gone about that.  But Renco was so glad to have fought beside Piccolo and Goku that he didn't mind gloating on the matter.  He then went on to say:  "You can prove it when it's your turn."  He turns around and takes a few steps towards Kondai.  Renco kneels down on the left knee, folded the right arm in front of his chest, and folds the left arm behind his back.  Holding his head down while closing his eyes, Renco says:  "As per to the customs of old, I Renco of the Woodwind tribe commend you earth girl.  You're skills in combat are remarkable.  It would be an honor to fight alongside a warrior such as you."

 

Pyrus crossed his arms in curiosity.  He thought to himself:  How interesting.  I've never seen or heard of a Namekian with such honor and traditions.

Tatsu

 

"Woodwind Tribe? I've never heard of that one before," Tatsu said to his fellow Namekian. "Plus, now that I see you clearly enough, what's with the shade of brown on your skin? Are you supposed to be from some rural part of the planet or something? The way you're dressed, you look like more of a Dragon Tribesmen, too."

Standing up, Renco to turns to face his fellow Namekian when he spoke.  Clearing his throat, he replies:  "That's because the Woodwind doesn't tend to stay in one location for too long.  Not since Friezas' arrival and the destruction of the first planet Namek.  If you're referring to my appearance, I suppose that's one way of putting it.  I've looked like this ever since I was born.  No one in the tribe is sure if one specific factor caused it or not.  Some say it's supposed to mean something while others think it's nothing to worry over.  I personally never gave it much thought.  As far as my clothes go, I tend to train with members of the Dragon Tribe without ever saying where I was from.  After a good amount of years training I gained a lot of trust with the tribe. Soon after they gave me this set of clothes as sign of being an honorary member.  I was welcomed to come and go at any time since then."

"Is that all so? I guess that makes enough sense. I've never personally been informed about this "Woodwind Tribe", mostly because I've spent my entire life on the new Planet Namek. I've never been interested in settling on Earth or anywhere else. Still, I wouldn't think your skin color would be affected that much. Even by the new crop of Namekians bearing colors like blue, pink, and purple, you barely even resemble a Namekian at all, your clothes being the only indicator..." Tatsu said, his comments possibly hiding a secret distaste for his fellow Namekian.

 

"But... regardless of all that, you showed that you were strong, so to me, that's all that matters," Tatsu said, flashing a quick smirk. "Though, my previous statement about you and Kondai still stands, and I suggest that you both try to keep up. And you'll see soon enough when I get my turn to battle."
