Tails 6,692 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Seriously. Enough with these so called "HD Remasters" that the PS4 is getting. This system is going to end up with more ports than new, next gen games. Look, I don't mind an HD remaster of a game that was on PS2 because that at least made sense. But now it's just getting ridiculous with having to do a "HD Remaster" of a game that's ALREADY IN HD and can easily be played on PS3 (looking at you Last of Us, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and God of War 3). Look, I know that this is a smart business decision for game companies since this gives them more oney to fund new games for the next-gen systems but come on. I'm pretty sure a lot of people bought a PS4 for new games instead of previous gen games that they've played before on PS3. Type-0 HD is an exception because that game never got localized to the west back when it was on PSP. So I give that game a slide. Along with maybe Resident Evil HD Remaster since the GC is dead and the games on it are either very rare or very hard to find. So I guess that deserves a pass too. But my point is, it really feels like the PS4 is being used to play previous gen games that people "missed out on" than it is with completely new games. This so called "Next gen gaming" isn't looking all that grand so far with all these ports of games already in HD. Again I don't mind HD remasters. It's just I hate how most of these "next gen games" are a port of a port already in HD. PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted March 24, 2015 I love the ports. It lets us play our old games on one system since there's no backwards compatibility. 1 RoxasVen30 reacted to this

Yes, but they are exaggerating. for ps2 is okay, but remaster of ps3? that was the previous generation. RobertOrri 202 Posted March 24, 2015 Why make new games when you can just keep releasing the same games over and over again?
KeybladeLordCheeseCurd 1,542 Posted March 24, 2015 I can understand FF X/X-2 HD because it looked as if it was still dated. But Last of Us? Did that already have a remaster?

FF X/X-2 Hd, it was remaster first for ps3 and vita, and then they port it to the ps4. Why they did that?

Tails 6,692 Posted March 24, 2015 I love the ports. It lets us play our old games on one system since there's no backwards compatibility. Yes but that's exactly the problem. The PS4 should have been backwards compatible with PS3 games just like the original Phat PS3 was backwards compatibe with PS2 games. If the PS4 was backwards compatible than we wouldn't have/need all these so called "HD Remasters" except for Type-0 HD and Resident Evil HD Remaster because those are the only two games that deserve an HD remaster. 2 PrinceNoctis and Shulk reacted to this

They literally remastered it after the PS3 version got released. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

They remastered Last of Us for the PS3 after the PS3 version was released. Then they remastered it AGAIN for the PS4 and it looks the same!

RoxasVen30 81 Posted March 24, 2015 And what if the rumored KH 1.5+2.5 collection comes to PS4/XBOne? I will be complaining, because those games were the reason I kept my ps3
Sora96 17,256 Posted March 24, 2015 Every single studio who has released a port is also working on a new gen game. Eg. Crystal Dynamics: Rise of the Tomb Raider. Naughty Dog: Uncharted 4. Square Enix: Mevius, FFXV, KH3, Dissidia, FFXIV, DQXI....list goes on. 1 teatimed reacted to this
Tails 6,692 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) And what if the rumored KH 1.5+2.5 collection comes to PS4/XBOne? I honestly don't think that needs to be ported to PS4. It looks good enough on PS3, especially since the PS3 is not completely dead yet. I mean you've already worked hard to to remaster it for PS3 and advertised people to get it on that system. Why screw over all the people that got it on PS3 only to port it on PS4 a year later? Oh, because KH3 is coming to PS4/Xbox One? Because if that was the case than KH 1.5 and 2.5 should've been remastered on PS4 to begin with. Isaix 924 Posted March 24, 2015 I agree, its kind of weird to remaster a game that's already in HD,the PS4 should have been backward compatible to begin with.At least on the PS3 the remasters added wide-screen and most of them had multiple games on the disc. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

Honestly the PS4/Xbox1 are lacking in games so I'm happy that they are giving us these ports cause it allows us to play something. Also it gives the companies more time to work on there current projects. So I'm all forward for these ports.
BlankShell 638 Posted March 24, 2015 Eh, I don't mind as much. People who owned a PS3 aren't necessarily the target audience; it's for people who made the jump from a different system, and therefore missed out on exclusives, which is what most of the remasters are. And besides, it's never just a straight port, there's almost always a bit of extra flavor to it. Not to mention people who never owned a console in the first place; there are younger people who are getting into gaming, and this is all new to them. Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted March 24, 2015 Actually, Naugthy Dog used The Last of Us as a learning experience for the PS4, so they'd be better off when it came to creating Uncharted 4 and other future titles. By learning the software on the PS4, they have the edge on making their games better. I believe Crystal Dynamics did this with Tomb Raider and God of War 3 Remastered not only celebrates an anniversary, but let's them understand what they're working with. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was an amazing franchise starter, but Naughty Dog struggled to produce such a title because the PS3 was too complex at the time they started it. So instead of repeating the PS3 era with the PS4, they took an opportunity to better understand what they were working with. In the end, many of us will be displeased by the remasters, but at least we know the actual games won't be as unfortunate for developers as they could be in the past. Dio Brando 5,810 Posted March 24, 2015 I love the ports. It lets us play our old games on one system since there's no backwards compatibility. Here is the question:WHY DID THEY TAKE BACKWARD COMPATABILITY OUT TO BEGIN WITH? They literally could've had those PS3 games being available on the PS Store for the PS4 but no.......they want us to pay 50$+ for them again And y'know what if those remasters were for old games from the Ps2 I would've never complained......but no all of them are literally games we've just played a year or two ago......Cuz buying FFX HD again is soooooooooooooooooo worth it right after I BOUGHT IT ON MY PS3 LAST YEAR People shit all over actual great remakes like Wind Waker HD that actually change and fix some stuff and not be just a glorified increase of the resolution yet remasters for a 1 year old game get a pass because somehow Sony is "God" for those people? This industry is unfair 3 Shulk, SmashLegendRiku and Tails reacted to this

No,the game looks exactly the same on both PS3 and Ps4 so this is pointless too heck it looks even more dated on the PS4 since the increased resolution showcase even more of how old the game has aged
