My reaction while reading the entire thread:

Seriously why is this stupid firetrucking dress plaguing all of social media WHO THE HELL CARES!!!

 

People care enough to post and answer and make it on every social media platform (Twitter and Tumblr especially).

 

I used to see white and gold, but checking the picture three hours later I now see blue and black.

 

Also the dress is blue and black on Amazon, they also have it in red, pink, and white... though they all have black trim

Okay, when I opened Deadpool's link, it looked a little darker, and the white looked blue-ish, but still not seeing it.     So my eyes just suck then? ;_;

No, not completely. From what I can tell, my eyesight fluctuates between the two. Like a flashing effect. But it depends on how much attention I put at it. As well as energy level, if your tired your eyes do not focus as easily. It really just depends on how the cones in your eyes are reacting at the time.Some instances (i.e. when your preparing to go to bed) you may see gold, as your eyes aren't receiving the light quite the right way due to being tired/preparing to shut down for the day. On the other hand, when you wake up, your eyes are fresh/your body not tired, and thus it will focus more easily and your eyes will more likely pick up on the correct colors.It also has to do with room brightness, screen brightness, and a lot of other factors revolving the eye's current condition at the time.Glasses also have slight effect (not much, but slight).Brought to you by a guy with no life and has taken too my biology classes and asked too many anatomy qurstions.

This is legit, I showed it to people at work and some saw Back and Blue (or a blue-ish purple). 

 

WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?

What I can see from the news is that the color changes based on each indivual's eyes and how their brain compensates for the change of lighting around them.

 

And people who used image editors found out it's actually black and blue.

 

I'll say this.

This thing is stupid. It's not even important and I dun wanna make a big deal out of it, but when my whole newsfeed is filled with something this stupid. Also, if I'm seeing black and blue instead of white and gold, that's just what I see, I don't need some asswipe telling me that I have negative emotions. That's bullshit, cause I've been in probably the best of moods possible for me in months.

The color changes deppending on how your brain interprets the color it receives due to lighting, it's not a matter of emotion.

Bedroom light on, sitting upright and close to screen: White and gold

 

Bedroom light off, sitting upright and close to screen: Light blue/purple and a brownish gold

 

Light off and lying down while looking at the screen from a small distance: Blue and Black

We had a debate at my lunch table about this, half said it was white, half said it was blue.

 

Myself, I've seen this picture like 5 different times, and I've never seen how it could look white. The black is a bit muddled in the picture, and when I did the color selector in an image editing program it turned out to be a weird deep brownish-tan kinda color. But yeah, of the two options, black and blue.

I've always seen the dress as this lavender color with dark brown trimmings, though I can see it the other two 'default' ways if I turn my head certain angles.
