You have been lied to.

The world is not as you think it is, and you have no idea what lies beyond the curtain.

 

Do not worry, I shall guide you. I shall show you the truth. I shall show you the way.

 

Awake now, my new friends, and let me introduce you you to the City.

 

I am Q, and I will be your guide.

 

This is where the lies end.

 

This is The City.

 

 

 

The words ring in your mind as you come to. Everything is white. Everything is so white. White skyscrapers surround you and close you in. There is no shadow, only the dim gray outline of the buildings and streets to keep the blank whiteness from consuming all you see. There is no sun, and there is no sky. The words you heard... it was a woman's voice that spoke them. She sounded... compassionate, but far off. So far off. The streets around you extend in a criss-cross in every direction. This seems to be setup like any city you've ever known, but somehow it seems so very different. After the blinding light of all the pure white, though, you notice them. The people around you. They have color to them; their clothes, their hair, their eyes. It is a welcome sight. They seem to all be coming to now as well...

 

In one spot, under the overhang of what may have been a sandwich shop were this any normal city, in the district known as Haven, six people awoke: Reverie Oscuro (Hazimie), Wlynn Cellus (Firo Procheniezio), Liath Smith (Captain Arrowguns), Jason Carmichael (Javelin), Sora Takagi (Oathkeeper) and Kristy Yauser (Ultimus Grid)

 

Elsewhere, next to one of the tallest towers in the area, in the district known as Crest were five more people who had just regained consciousness: Laciann Pascual (Tatsumi), Alysa Mors (Mine), Asher Sterban (Neko-chan), Aro (Silver Kuroi) and Tristan Cane (Joemahon) .

 

Finally, the third group, awakening in an intersection flanked on all four corners by great towering building, numbering six, also heard the voice and woke to the sight of the City. They were Ailder Rosewal (Riki), Natasa Devin (The Narrator), Maxwell Crad (Scrapmaster), Yuki (Kingdomhearts), Jordan Locke (rikunobodyxiii), and Le Chef (Dave).

 

As they all awoke, the voice came once more.

 

Learn your new comrades names and come to know them as people.

 

Very soon the City shall fight against you for the first of many times....

Yuki smiled as the warriors introduced themselves. He was a bit confused with the messy haired boy's comment about a TV show, but happy that he has heard about Saiyans. "Oh! So you know my kind! Hee hee hee! Nice to be noticed! I'm the son of Goten! Even my family were surprised with my red tail! No matter how many times they took it off! So......How powerful are you guys? Cause I've faced a lot of foes in my place, but I never faced them alone. But I just feel like my powers won't work here." He looked at his hands, wondering about he'll fight or if he'll ever fight. Then he noticed the chef, politely greeting. When he mentioned Q, his eyes widened.

"You guys heard her too!? Wow....I'm not the only one...." He turned to the girl that was sleeping. He walked over to her, curious. He then began to shake her. "Hey....Come on....Wake up!"

"Really? I mean... really?"

These were the thoughts of Natasha Devin, as she laid on the ground. She was having serious problems believing the voice she was hearing. But her eyes were currently closed, and she wasn't aware of her surroundings. When she finally opened her eyes, she was not very happy. Not, surprisingly, because of all the white which surrounded her. No, she was angry because she was currently being shaken by someone. He looked young, certainly much younger than she was. "A... red tail? Hm," she muttered, as she got up. 

 

She balled up a fist. "I am awake now. And let me say something," she started saying, glaring directly into Yuki's eyes. "If you EVER touch me again, you shall regret it. So... don't," she finished. She really didn't like it when someone touched her. "Now, as I'm sure you are awaiting this with baited breath," she started, dripping with sarcasm. "My name is Natasha Devin. Just call me Natasha. I... don't like my last name," she finished. "Now, can you all tell me your names?" she asked, glaring at everyone else who was awake in turn.

Maxwell was surprised by the woman's reaction to yuki shaking her when she was asleep, after finishing the handshake with Le chef and introducing himself to him, he thought he mind as well introduce himself to her, since she well...asked for it. "Greetings, nice to meet you Natasha, my name is Maxwell." he said with a polite and friendly tone as always as he then looked around, seeing as everyone was now awake sort of relieved him, "Well everyone seems fine from what I can see...thankfully...". he said

I didn't mean to make mad!" He combined his hands together in a begging matter and bowed to show respect."Please forgive me." He regretted not taking Maxwell's advice.

"Right.  I won't dad."  Ugh, it's the same thing everyday.  Teaching lessons, board meetings, and everything else that's boring.  It never ends.  I so want to get away from here, but I can't.  If only there's a way.

 

I yawned all bored like, expecting to go about my everyday routine.  But something was oddly different.  Instead of hearing a servant, I hear a woman's voice.  A voice I haven't heard before.  "Q?  Who is this?  And what's 'the City?'"  I sit up, looking at what I guess is a shop.  "This is definitely not my room."  Standing up slowly, I took a good look around.  Everything here was plain white, no other color whatsoever.  Except when looking down, I see the yellow on my clothes.  Leaning my head on my right hand, I mumble:  "Now how did I get here?"

Jordan let the others introduce themselves and talk for a little bit as he fought to control his enthusiasm. He didn't want these people to think he was a total newb. He was about ready to contribute when he noticed that one of them had a tail. He had to clinch his jaw to prevent from "squeeing", something an adventurer wouldn't do, he thought.

"Hi, I'm Jordan Locke." He introduced himself at last. "Nice, um, nice to meet you guys."

Alysa glared at Tristan. Really? A washboard? Had he just called her a washboard? She was tempted to stab him then and there just on the principal on the thing. Then she remembered herself. Alysa could care less about how big her chest was. In most scenarios for her, it was more of a hindrance than a help. So she waved him off. "Whatever loser." She said calmly. "Just know that the next time you call me some other name, it will likely only end in embarrassment for you." Alysa continued, smirking in the sense of superiority she was feeling. This kid just wanted to make fun of them, and was not afraid to do so at the expense of their self-esteem. She could respect that, but she definitely not going to.

Kristy turned around, hearing another voice.  She guess she wasn't the only one here, but was surprised to see anyone here anyway.  Especially that of a guy.  "O-oh.  I didn't see you there.  Hi Reverie.  I'm Kristy Yauser, nice to meet you, I think.  Please forgive me.  I didn't think I'd meet another person here.  Wherever or whatever here is."

Thankfully that statement was solely in Aro's head as she nodded to Alysa, "Greetings. Glad to see there's someone else who won't be taking any crap from anyone. And thank you for that kick. I would've kicked him somewhere else--but I doubt he would ever recover from that. I'm Aro, by the way."

She smiled in a pleasant way before nodding to Alysa and then the other man, though she refused to acknowledge Tristan in any way.

The recognition and praise was enough to make Le Chef forget any inconvenience that he might have experienced in not waking up in his house. Any time he was there to meet the gratifying faces of those who knew his work was a good time. "Then we are well met, Jordan, Maxell, Ailder, Yuki, and Natasha. For I am indeed that same world famous chef you might have heard about, though, perhaps, not so famous in this world." Stretching out some of the kinks, he glanced about the streets, trying to find anything that looked significant. "What a pity our lady Q could not have dropped us off in a place with a grocery store. A morning without breakfast is a morning worth mourning. Ah, my good Ailder!" he said, patting the young lad on the back. "You're lamentable drought of savory dishes would be ended with croissants and eggs Chesapeake. With strawberries and cream on the side, I should think. I daresay it would even put the faintest hint of a smile on our Natasha's face."

lying across the ground staring at everyone while munching on a chocolate bar he had just pulled out of his bag Tristan spoke "So from the looks of that quick personality check i just did we have one over sensitive guy with a short fuse Asher a Tsunderes named Alysa who I'm impressed with for the simple fact she didnt take the bait when i called her a washboard then theirs Aro she acts all polite refuses to notice me and secretly she probably wishes she could hit everyone in this group right now so i'm guessing she's one of those internal bomb types should be fun to eventually see that go off and then that leaves..." turning his head slightly while still munching on some chocolate Tristan looked to the only member of the group who still needed to wake up "Mister sleepy head over their" standing up while still munching on his chocolate Tristan pulled a black marker out of his pocket "I've done my trolling for the day messing with Asher and Alysa so anyone feel like leaving the message to sleeping beauty over their of what happens if you sleep in for to long?" holding his hand up Tristan offered the marker to the others

"Name's Ailder, but I'm far from how you think I am, Mrs. High and Mighty!" Ailder replied, now turning his attention to the man in a red pullover. "Nice to meet you as well, Jordan!" And finally, but without any disrespect to, Le Chef. Just those thoughts of delicious delectable morsels entering his pallet could only make his mouth water. "We can find somewhere, I'm good at finding what I need, just say the word when you want me to head out!"

In that case, do either of you have any connections to the Russian mob? Or perhaps the Italian mob? If not, this could always be the work of the CIA. I did leak some of their more shady intell to FOX News a couple weeks ago. Maybe this could be the work of that software developer I helped the cops go after last month. Oh wait, he's dead now, although this could be the work of his son..." Liath continued to ramble on like this, more or less unaware that there were other people around him anymore.

Sora groaned, and sat up. She was in the exact same position as when she went to sleep - sitting, half on the table. But it wasn't a table...she had fallen asleep next to her mother. Curious...wait.

Hearing conversation, the girl looked up. Sora Takagi. That was everything her mind knew at that moment in time. Her mother, her life. All was forgotten . Only two words and a series of muscle memories flowed, and she looked around the sandwich shop.

"...where am i?" she asked in around soft voice, as two black furry fox ears twitched. She frowned, then gravitate to Kristy for some reason. She slowly moved closer to the girl, a wary eye on the men. She then froze.

"What am I doing...what's going on..."

 

She seemed completely lost.

I tilt my head, thinking on what Liath just mentioned.  "Sure looks like it.  No, I'm not from either of those groups.  The last thing I remember is being in my room, watching some shows before falling asleep.  But I don't think that is what's going on."  Before talking any more, I had the feeling something was coming to me.  I slowly turned my head, looking at another girl up, but she had fox ears.  "AAh!"  I jumped up in my spot, more scared than I probably should be.  Trying to relax, I say:  "Don't sneak up on me like that!  You scared me like crazy!  Wait, what are you supposed to be?"

Reverie finally awake at the Sandwich shop after he heard a voice rings in his head. Then again,he felt lazy to get up."Man,I'm ending up in a strange world?What's up with that?"

"Looks like I'm not the only one here. Hey fella! Do you know where we are?"

Jason's eyes slowly opened, and soon the officer was blinded by the pristine white of the environment. It only took a moment for his eyes to adjust, and he quickly noticed the other colored companions who were next to him. "Uh oh," he groggily murmured to himself, "Don't tell me Mikey spiked the jelly donuts again..." He sighed briefly, trying to feel the telltale signs of a hangover before reasonably concluding that he was not drunk in the slightest. "Did I... Did I party too hard last night?"

 

Shaking off the thought of a crazy party for now, Jason quickly patted himself down to make sure all of his equipment was still on him. Satisfied that his taser and pistol were still on him, the officer quietly listened in to the conversation between the new strangers as he looked around at the white city. I don't recognize this place at all. Maybe I'm in a new city? Or have I been relocated to another precinct? He wanted to reach for his radio, but decided to engage with the 'locals' first. "Excuse me," he quietly but firmly addressed to the others around him, "Do any of you have a clue as to where I am?"

Wlynn was now coming to her senses and looked around the city for the first time. 'What fight? Nonononononoonono. I cant fight for squat.'

"Well ... I cant explain any of this. Unless It was another one of my lab accidents and you were all caught up in it. That is in any term of realistic thinking absolute nonsense. Oh my I'm rambling. Its nice to meet all of you." She said and bower almost twitching  nervously since she had no idea how to react in public. The city looked interesting to her especially the sheer emptiness of the whole place. 'Who built it? How? Why?' these were all questions going through her head but she had a little problem called ignorance. The questions dissipated in split seconds after they appeared.

The voice returned. As it did, a thick and dull rumbling could be felt somewhere far off.

 

"Good. You have met your new comrades. I see some of you get along better than others. This is no matter. There is a gift I must give you, or rather a gift you have always held without realizing it."

 

Suddenly, in all the groups, in every member, something awakened. Instantly everyone could feel it, understand it, use it.

 

"What you feel now is the awakening of your Ability of Creation. For each it shall be different, and will depend on you. Look to your inner self and you shall come to understand it."

 

The rumbling in the distance that could be felt in all three districts grew slightly more pronounced.

 

"Now you must come to recognize these new powers, as they will be the only way you shall survive this ordeal. Something is coming very soon, and you will need to be ready. Test your new-found powers on or with your comrades, but make haste and forge your alliances...."

 

Q let the last sentence fall into a silent lull for a moment.

 

"... the dolls are coming."

"Doll?" Maxwell asked in confusion as he then felt something rumble inside him, as if something had just awakened, either that or something was inside him,which he hoped wasn't the case, following Q's advice he concentrated for a second.

Upon looking at his 'inner self' he found out what had just awakened, he looked at his hands and noticed...electricity, he had electricity flowing around his hands and he could feel it charging inside of him.

 

He thrusted his arm forward, which sent out a lightning bolt in front of him and hit a wall, leaving a good mark of impact on where it hit, he quickly unsheathed his sword and noticed that electricity was goign through it as well, so this was his power of creation, power over lightning itself...he looked at his hands in amusement "huh...this is interesting, what did you guys get?" he asked the others.

Sora scream with Kristy, then her hands went to tug the fox ears. She yelped in pain, and looked behind her. She screamed again, then collapsed to her knees and burst into tears."I'm sorry! I don't know why I did that or why I have these ears and a tail! I don't rven know if I know my name!" She sobbed harder.Then Q spoke again, talking about abilities and dolls. Well Sora didn't even know what to say to that. She just wanted to go home...wait..."I can create but I can't even create a way to get my memory of home back? What's the use!" Maxwell asked in confusion as he then felt something rumble inside him, as if something had just awakened, either that or something was inside him,which he hoped wasn't the case, following Q's advice he concentrated for a second.Upon looking at his 'inner self' he found out what had just awakened, he looked at his hands and noticed...electricity, he had electricity flowing around his hands and he could feel it charging inside of him. He thrusted his arm forward, which sent out a lightning bolt in front of him and hit a wall, leaving a good mark of impact on where it hit, he quickly unsheathed his sword and noticed that electricity was goign through it as well, so this was his power of creation, power over lightning itself...he looked at his hands in amusement "huh...this is interesting, what did you guys get?" he asked the others.

"D-did anyone else see that?!" Ailder fell to the floor as the lighting struck. "W-what!? How is that even possi-" he was shouting, only to begin literally falling through the floor. "Whoah! What the how?! Am I on shrooms or something?!" He yelled, trying to get out of the ground. "Hold on... whoever that lady was said I know how to control this. "Calm down, calm down, please calm down!" He yelled at himself. He felt the ground become again solid on him, except where he was, which had hollowed out for his body. "Alright... whatever this is, right now is influenced by my emotions... calmness means everything is normal, fear allows me passage through objects... weird..." He thought, only just now realizing he was buried alive. "For christ's sake!" He yelled, now getting angry, the ground pushed off of him, and a small ailder-shaped hole opened to the surfacd. "This is weird..." He now figured annoyance and anger for now triggers the ability to repulse or retract objects away from him. "Even if I'm just tripping on some sort of drug, might as well keep it entertaining. I'll have to train and master these skills so I might control them better..." Ailder's mind raced with the thought of a new challenge. But before that, he must actually get out of the hole he is in.With enough force, and with summoning his feelings of anger, he pushed himself out of the rest of the hole, and then as he left, the floor seemed to magnitize back into place, almost perfectly, to a point where you woundln't know someone had just exploded out of it. "I guess... with my knoledge of science, I got the ability to manipulate the way matter reacts to other matter..."

I squinted my eyes as I stared off towards the low rumbling was coming from. As I did, and as this enigmatic "Q" spoke, I could feel something rise within me. I didn't understand exactly what the feeling was, but I attributed it much to one game I had seen: Persona, in which people could 'discover their true selves'. I assumed that this is what Q was speaking of. Some ability, related to us, which will come of use in this wasteland.

 

"Dolls?" I then murmured aloud, as Q's voice spoke of the Dolls--which we would presumably be fighting. They honestly sounded....terrifying. Honestly calling them Dolls wasn't exactly the most terrifying of name choices...but it was how Q said it. Her tone implied that these things were going to be more intensely difficult than their name gave off.

 

I turned to my group. The naive Asher, the mighty Alysa, and then Tristan, whom I was still ignoring. I did realize one of us was still sleeping, which I found to be a bit of a surprise with how Q had already spoken to us twice, and then apparently summoned three Dolls for us to fight.

With what I could tell of my power, those Dolls would not last very long.
