"Nah, it's cool. That kinda came out wrong anyway."

A light shade of blue fell over his eyes. Then, almost out of the blue, his curiosity struck. "Hey, what was your life like back before us?"

Zion froze.

"...sexual slavery."

Zion brushed past Roen, and headed for the door. "I'll meet you...wherever." She seemed to withdraw at the impending conversation, her wings a bit ruffled at the..very touchy topic.

"Sexual....?"

Before Roen could say a word, Zion was already far gone. The purple flushed back into his eyes, and he thought for a long moment.

Roen had been surrounded by family. Those who loved him were everywhere, protecting him, sheltering him, feeding him, clothing him.... It almost seemed like a stress-free lifestyle. He was spoiled in a way.

He remembered the day when he first met Zion. She barely let anyone into her heart. She was hostile to most of the tribe, in fact, but being the teenager that he was, Roen dared to help her out. He kept his distance for a long while, giving her food to reach out for, but he'd excuse himself from family dinners or even rituals to comfort her. Roen never quite knew how to talk to her: for most of the time during their meetings he would feed her and watch, the eyes changing color depending on his curiosity. To be honest, he was fascinated by her wings when he was younger.

When was the first time she spoke? He wondered...

FLASHBACK YAY~

She was huddled in the corner, finishing bread. The girl refused to let them near her, especially after being given wings. Even as Roen tried, she growled and kicked...then one day she went quiet. She didn't growl, she didn't fight.

Actually her first words to Roen?

"Do you have cake?"

"...Huh?"

Roen expected the girl to speak. He wanted her to. But to hear her voice, he was kind of taken aback.

"Err, cake..." desperately, young Roen dashed through everywhere, even the nooks and crannies of the tribe (could it be tucked under my bed?) but, alas, could not fufill her wishes. "Sorry..."

-Flashback-

Roen still felt the hostility, but instead of leaving her alone like everyone else, he exclaimed "Sure! I've got that! You can sleep in my room!"

He led her to his room, offering his bed and to sleep on the floor instead.

In her dirty hospital gown, she crawled into Roen's bed.

"...as long as you keep your hands over there, I won't keep you from your bed." She said. "But hands wander, you might die."

"Don't worry about that one" he bit back "Me and a girl, sleeping? That's a no-no!"

Sniffing the air, Roen said "Woah, my room smells worse than my sock drawer! Someone needs a shower!"

"..." Zion went back to sleep.

END FLASHBACK

In the present, Zion was standing in the hallway. Memories of her past filtered, but faces were so fuzzy...just his..and Roens.

She turned back, and opened the door.

"...Will you hug me, Roen?"

Roen saw her return, and upon the question let off a faint nod of acceptance. The embrace chilled his soul, and the teal color returned to the thing that defined him. He stroked her back, under her wings, since he knew she'd benn through much more hell than he.

"I'm sorry..." his voice trailed, as he knew what he said couldn't be returned to the mouth from which it came. She was precious... too precious to him to let go of.

"...idiot." she sighed softly. "...we have stuff to do. So try to not hit on me until the tribes secured okay? A girl can only take so much excitment."

He smiled back.

The things he wants to protect, Dex, the tribe, and Zion... he loved them all.

In the distance, Roen heard gunshots. Flinching from the sound, he looked outside.

Small fry, it seemed. Nothing more than uniformed pawns.

Strange...

Dex was looking over the horizon on top of the biggest tower of the tribe, he always used to come here to meditate and do a little soul searching here and there, they were gonna have a fight today if the agents words were anything to go by, he was ready as he would ever be...he looked at his hands as he remembered the attack on his family's outpost...3 years ago.

FLASHBACK

It was at nightfall, the survivors of the attack were now running away from the attackers, screams of pain and agony could be heard during the rain, as the fire over the outpost could still be seen from the distance they had traveled, "Dex! what happened to your father? whi isn't he here with us?!" said his mother as he walked beside him, Dex looked sad but angry at the same time "He's...dead, murdered by a fellow Carther, a traitor..." he said in a sorrowful tone, to his mother's shock "No...but why..." she said as the started to cry, "I don't know...but now all we can do is go to the Carther's outpost to the south, we need to get there befo-" before he could finish his sentence a man screamed "they're here! they're here! prepare to fight!" he said as Dex simply walked to him and gave him a tap in his shoulder "leave it to me..." he said with a more angry tone now, "What?! you're crazy Dex you can't possibly hold them off on your own..." he said dumbfounded.

"I have to..." Were the only words that left Dex's mouth as he pushed the guard and walked forward, "Get them there safely...i'l make my way back" he said with a expressionless voice now, The guard hesitated for a bit before turning around and running after the survivors as Dex was left behind to hold the army of attackers's off.

"I won't let these bastards get off easily from this" he said, as if ready to die as he held his sword as he could now see the attacking army approaching, about 500 men all armored and armed to the teeth, with both magic and conventional weapons, Dex was ready to go all out.

"No choice...Dimension Cutter" He said, as he entered a trance like state as he remembered the teachings.

'Only one person was ever able to master the DImension cutter technique, his name was Alexanders Carther, he was the founder of the Carther's and he was the greatest fighter we've ever saw' he remembered, in truth anyone could use Dimension cutter, but only a few could survive it, as you needed to enter an even deeper trance like state that could easily make you go into a coma like state or your body would randomly shut off from overuse...but he had no choice at that moment.

He attacked first with a lightning fast slash, whose's slash could be easily seen from at least 100 meters away, as distortions could be seen in the areas the slashes would hit, as if the dimension itself was being cut, much to its namesake... the slashes pierced armor and enemies alike, entire collums of soldiers were cut in an instant from the slashes Dex did during the state of trance, the mages tried to blast him with magic, but their magic and them were all cut down in instants, Dex took one arrow to the shoulder as he flinched, grunted in pain but kept on the attack, caring not about the pain...all he wanted was these bastards to be put down.

It took about four minutes to take our nearly two thirds of their numbers as they started to retreat, Dex now had three arrows, one in his shoulder, another in his leg and one in his stomach, but he didn't care...

The enemy were retreating as Dex kept on slashing, dwindling their numbers until only a handfull were left as he left the state of trance, as he nearly passed out right then and there, but managed to stay awake, now on his knees, he was exhausted and his arms was even broken from the sheer force and speed the state of trance allowed him to swing at, he was breathing heavily as he stood there for around tne minutes, removing the arrows from his shoulders and legs, he got up with a struggle...as he walked off...the night was no more, now it was dawn...a dawn shed in blood...

After four days of walking and tending to his wounds with some healing salvo that his family was known to be able to make, passing the recipe from heir to heir, the recipe itself was pretty simple, but very effective in tending to wounds, he arrived at the southern post, as he entered he was soon greeted by his family, specially his mother "Son! you're back!" she said giving him a hug, to which he hugged her in response as well, "Im so glad you're all safe!...but we lost everything, and I must go back too..." much to his mother's dismay, "But dex you barely even got here, and you want to go back?! why!" she shouted at him. "I must Assist the Fenikkusu, its what father would want..." he said with a emotionless tone and a expressionless face, "Your father was a fool dex, he got too close to the fenikkusu and now look what happened! I  always knew his friendship with them was gonna bring our doom, look the Fenikkusu are the only thing keeping the Sudon and Riderrekians from war, this isn't our figh-" before she could finish her sentence Dex cut her off, "This isn't our fight, of that you're right...but it is MY FIGHT now! and i'l be dammed if im not gonna honor father's name" he said as his mother was now silent, he simply gave a nod as he left the outpost soon after...and headed to the Fenikkusu tribe to offer his assistance...

FLASHBACK END.

(Meanwhile at sudon)

The war officials had soon left the war room and were tending to her own business, Alicia however was sitting near one of the windows of the Sudon's capital castle, reading a book, minding her business before the war would begin.

Dex frowned at Roen's response, "Roen it won't be that easy, the Sudon will attack us with everything they have, they will have thier elite units going all out on us, and I hear they have means of disabling our magic now, even with the fenikkusu's advanced technology, im afraid that we won't live through this if what they say is true" he said with a serious and concerned tone in his voice.

"Even if we can take them out without a problem, we'd best prepare nonetheless to prevent losses, I just thought you should be the first to know about this that is all" he said to him

Alicia smiled again at the Prince's reply to her, "I just think we shouldn't underestimate the fenikkusu, if they are the only thing keeping us from destroying the Riderrek, must mean they have great power as well. but they aren't expecting an attack, so we have the advantage before the attack even begins." she said with a neutral tone.

FLASHBACK END.

(Meanwhile at sudon)

The war officials had soon left the war room and were tending to her own business, Alicia however was sitting near one of the windows of the Sudon's capital castle, reading a book, minding her business before the war would begin.

"Well then," Perseus laughed, glad that the only people left in the room were Alicia, Soren, and himself. He walked up to Alicia, and said "There is but one thing left to do. I shall be leading the charge, of course. For who but I would possibly dare to invade Fennikusu land and lead the charge himself? Call me mad if you will, but I have a goal. And remember this, for I shall not repeat myself. I shall not lose, no matter what. Now then, let's get down to business!"

Having finished his small speech, he started walking towards the top of the castle. He was happy. Very very happy. The prospect of leading a charge was so thrilling, he couldn't help laugh at the world. He would rule this petty world, no matter what it took. Betrayal, killing his brothers? Pah. He did not care, and he was quite willing. And as such, he'd do it. All to become the emperor. Having finally reached the top, he summoned up his scepter. "I see you, Fennikusu..." he started, as he brightened the flame to as hot as it would get. "and I judge thee unworthy!" he finished, as he let out what could only be called an evil laugh. The flame was a signal to the troops to start the attack. It started a long chain of actions and reactions that would eventually lead to the actual attack, but it all started with that flaming scepter.

"Tch"

Roen and Zion and some of the warriors wiped out the small reinforcements. To send something that small to defeat the tribe was laughable. But it couldn't be it. That's why Roen couldn't help but bite his tongue.

It was far from over.

Dex had noticed the small reinforcements sent at them as they were shot down, "Expendable mooks, a distraction in order to lower our guard at best" he said sighing "Sudon and its military..." he said shaking his head.

"As you wish, my liege" Alicia said with a smile to Perseus as he looked at her and went to the top of the castle only to laugh and give the signal, hearing the soldiers starting to mobilize she simply closed her book, got up and adjusted her sword's sheath beside her waist, she was ready for this.

She started to head out with the main force, she would be working together with Soren and his Aster knights, she was disable the Fenikkusus's magic before the army charged in, and she had devised the perfect spell for the job...she walked along with the officials of the army, knowing she would be the one to lay the first strike for them all to attack.

(btw this is all in time-lapse in which at this point in the story she is around 13 sorry if I did not make that clear before)

As the girl made her way through the woods hunting for small animals a young boy also made his way through. "Turn left at the large rock.... ok which large rock. Maybe the large cliff? No, the directions clearly state turn at the large rock.... but there is no rock? I am most definitely lost" the boy said to himself. He heard a cracking branch in the bush next to him and shouted "WHO'S THERE?" A large rabbit leapt from the bush and sank its fangs into his leg. The boys screams alerted Katara and she raced towards them. When she arrived there the boy was lying on the ground holding his bloody leg as the vampire rabbit began to scamper away. Katara raised her bow, an arrow materializing in her hand, and shot the rabbit. "You should know how to fight those things off they aren't that tough" Katara admonished as she laid the rabbit's limp body in her rucksack. She walked over to the boy, laid her hand on his leg, and instantly the wound was healed. As Katara turned her back and began to walk towards her cabin the boy ran after her. "Wait, where are you going? Who are you?" the boy asked. "Where I am going or who I am is none of your concern. Be on your way." Katara replied coldly. "But which way is my way..." the boy asked looking at his map confusedly. "There are no large rocks within 50 miles of these swampy woods. You are hopelessly lost. A kind person would say to come with me and get back on your feet" the boy's face lit up "but I'm afraid I am not a nice person. Get lost. Oh wait, you already are" Katara snapped, walking back towards her cabin. "But I really need help" the boy whined. Katara looked at him again. He seemed to be in some kind of military uniform that was green and white with a large eagle insignia on the left pocket. Maybe he was a nice boy who could help her find somewhere to go outside the forest. "One night is all I'm promising. Hurry up" she replied. The two walked off into the woods.

( we're kinda waiting for Oathkeeper to have Soren and Alicia leading the charge, Alicia hasn't deactivated the defenses yet xD, I think we should wait a bit more, at least until everyone is here.)

A night went by, and a week, and a month, and a year. The two were inseparable. The boy, who's name was Zylon, revealed that he was a scout of Riderrek who had been sent to search for some ancient maps that had been laid by their leader 300 years ago. "Of course I think it was simply another ploy for my brother the general of the army to get rid of me. I never do anything right." he said while explaining the incident. "I'm sure you do some things right, you are getting better with a sword," Katara tried to reassure him. "That.... is possibly the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me," Zylon replied. The two, both without true alliance, needed to find a city as soon as possible. "We cannot hide in this cabin forever." Zylon stated. Katara simply continued to skin the rabbit they had caught. She had lived in a city before, and was not sure she wanted to go back just yet. The cold months came and went without incident because Katara found a way for her to create fire. They never starved but lived off the natural resources of the area. One year later, Zylon and Katara were having dinner together as usual. Their relationship had recently become a bit strained as they had recently started looking at each other differently. They had been living together as husband and wife for the past 2 years of their life but had not really acknowledged it. They knew everything about each other and they were wondering how did they really feel about each other. "So, I've been thinking, we should get a head start on the city soon," Katara began. "Um, yeah! We really should, but how?" Zylon replied. "I don't know-" Katara began and then she disappeared.
