Having only have played BBS so far (Damn you, life getting in the way DX), I'm going with D-Links: I never used Summons much in the ps2 KH II, and Drive forms were too much of an issue to level up.

D-Links saved my a$$ in a few boss fights for combo finishers. Who knew a boss could be taken down with Magic Step from Cinderella?

D-Links were super helpful early game to wreck bosses. At other points in the game, they were helpful as an emergency heal and high damage finishers. And late game, they were helpful for grinding, what with Mickey's having double EXP, and Stitch having double CP. Overall, D-Links were really helpful. Summons were pretty meh in KH2. They were better in KH1 imo

Depends on how I used them. In terms of game completion,I used D-Links more since there were more of them than summons. In terms of actual gameplay, I didn't use either one. I was more for getting my hands dirty using normal or Drive forms and using Command styles (which happened more so because I used certa in moves as opposed to me trying to get them).

I've literally never used a D-Link once. When I played BBS, I somehow forgot they were even a gameplay mechanic after the tutorial screen and just never remembered they existed. I've at least used summons sometimes in KH2, so that automatically wins.

I do like how they improved on the returning summons from KH1, like giving Genie a bunch of Limits to play with as opposed to two shitty magic spells that never work right, and how Peter Pan/Tinkerbell can both heal you and attack enemies. It's pretty rad. (Plus Stitch's is adorable is all kinds of ways)

Aqua's D-Link helped me out a bit in the beginning because it had Cure, and I'll admit to using the instant full heal to cheat the system a bit (though Drive Forms do that too).

Summons though, I can't think of a time where I've ever found the desire to risk navigating the battle menu to activate a summon, and the AP I would use on Auto-Summon can be used for other things. Honestly, they're pretty much useless to me.
