I personally would want to see Sora and Kairi's relationship being developed first. And Kairi needs some urgent character development before anything is to happen with them. Look. I love SoKai as much as you do, but Kairi has been so left out of the series lately that it would be almost out of nowhere. Almost. I wouldn't mind if it happened in Kingdom Hearts III as long as there's sufficient character development, but remember there's always next saga.

In seriousness though, there are actual people who believe that Sora and Kairi should engage in some sort of sexual activity, whether it be just kissing or actually engaging in intercourse. But then again, there are actual people who think a lot of things like that should go down.

 

The joke is that whenever somebody suggests this, it means the sex and/or hyper sexual scenario, when in reality, romance in general for Kingdom Hearts is both non-existent and/or very unlikely to become a sudden, important factor in KHIII just based off Sora and Kairi's relationship, which doesn't necessarily have to move straight into romance at all.

That is probably the best option as the Paopu Fruit thing was pretty much set up as a constant for their relationship anyway. Plus, its innocent enough.

But I really do believe that KH3 will be the game we see that progression in. In what form though remains to be seen.

We still don't need to see them kissing and/or making out. This is a Disney product, not to mention that romance in general isn't really a focus in the series. If anything, it'll be treated as innocently as it can get. I realize that Sora and Kairi are teenagers, but I'm pretty sure most teenagers don't spend their time fighting alongside Disney characters with giant key shaped swords and take about hearts and light and darkness and all that jazz. They're not normal, is what I mean. lol So them not having a normal romance that involves kissing or something like that shouldn't be a problem.

I can honestly see Sora and Kairi getting together if they kind of play it like they did Jack and Sallie's romance in the movie 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.' Although that romance was much more heavily hinted at, it still took a backseat to Jack's master plan, and the romance scene in the end seemed like an afterthought more than anything else. If Square and Disney make sure the romance isn't too overplayed in Kingdom Hearts, I think it could work well.
