What Kingom Hearts III REALLY needs

With all of these topics on what people wish to see in Kingom Hearts III, what the game needs is more diversity and style in combat. I know this is not an anime series but it has 300x more cutscenes than any other video game I've played so they should improve on combat. The keyblade wielders fight too much like casual humans when they actually can use magic, unlock doors, travel to different worlds/universes, etc. There is very little levitation used in combat, if not any. All off the battles are ground based, which is fine, but aerial combat should be in cutscenes considering it is an ability that every character you play as has. More destruction from strikes with the keyblade and magic would look amazing. Another way to improve on combat is with speed, if the characters can clash faster and teleport it would make the fights more interesting and intense. I feel like all keyblade wielders are laggy humans with giant key-shaped blades restricted to the ground.

 

It definitely would not be a stretch if Kingdom Hearts characters could fight on par with one of the Final Fantasy universes. Perhaps this is too dark for a simple Disney game, but in the first game, keyblades were like green lantern rings in which only a few people from the universe/multiverse had the power to wield. For this reason they should fight like warriors rather than mere humans. I really hope Nomura improves on this with Kingdom Hearts III. Combat scenes are definitely lacking in the series.

...have you ever played a KH game

 

Obviously. The only fight I know of that involved levitation was the world of darkness (is that what it's called?) and Sora was in fact using levitation but that's not being implemented into cutscenes... at least Kingdom Hearts II had a fight scene for the final boss battle.

If they just took the KH2 fighting system and put it in KH3 with new spells and forms (if KH3 will have them) then I would be fine. Just KH2 improved Is what I hope they do. I don't like the way combat is in the rest of the games except KH1. The ability to teleport would be sick af. I have always thought of the fun I would have designing a battle system in a action-RPG. I would go insane, all out. I can agree with you on them being kinda slow in a few places. Never had that feeling with Sora though. 

 

 

I like what you said in most places. I don't wanna fight like some flying cyborg though. I wanna it to stay on the ground mostly. Air fighting is nice but I always save it for stuff like Final Form. In games like BBS, it is ground fighting a lot though, Feel limited to death in that game. The cutscenes never bother me really since I can just skip them and don't care much for story.

But they already can. Sora takes on Squall, Cloud, Yuffie and Tifa all at once in the tournament in KH2. (well of course it isn't canon because if he was in their universe they would reck him)

 

Also, are you talking about cutscenes only? Cause there aren't many cutscenes with actual combat in them. I mean, the one with Sora vs. Roxas has a moment where they fight into the air and the secret ending of KH2FM where the BBS trio faces off against MX. Atleast in the latter they don't really seem simply as normal humans to me.

His fight with them is not canon and none of them are using their full strength like in their respective universes. Even if you argue that they're nerfed to exist in the Kingdom Hearts universe, Cloud and Sephiroth had a battle of epic proportions in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (even though only 2 was canon). I am referring to cutscenes but don't get me wrong, the gameplay for boss battles could use all of the improvements I mentioned.

Well for cutscenes I can't really think of many where they actually fight for a long time except those two I mentioned. Even in FF, VIII's opening had a fight battle but it was very grounded. Advent Children though, that was insane. And Nomura was the one who directed it, so if there are cutscenes with fights in KH3 you can expect some air fighting.

Yeah this would fit Kingdom Hearts III perfectly. An Advent Children based keyblade war would be truly epic.

I think the usual fighting by button mashing should suffice, but I do admit that KH2's combat system was the best imo [Haven't played DDD yet, so I wouldn't know much about that game]

You must have never played a Metal Gear Solid game.

 

I think there's always been a big focus on combat in the games, though I don't like how certain games implement it. As long as KH3 ditches the Command Deck for the good ol' Command Menu, I think the combat will be fine. There are always lots of moves that let characters move really fast and do really flashy things, I don't think the series has ever been lacking in any of that.

Sooo kh2 gamplay nerfed got it ;) i really think they should implant more fight scenes in kingdom hearts as well we really Don't get much of them -_- also chocobo, sora riding a chocobo would be sick!!!
