For anyone who is a hot tea drinker

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions? It's just something randomly on my mind I'd like to try out. But, as obvious as it is, I've never drank hot tea before, so I don't know how to make it, or what brands and flavors are good. So, I decided to just come here and ask. Probably not the best place to do so, but it wouldn't hurt.

Doing a random search just now, I heard Celestial Seasonings teas are actually heavy in pesticides, so I guess I'll avoid that one, but other then that, suggest anything for me to try.

TEAVANA IS LIFE! But seriously their teas are really good! another brand I like is called Pukka (my aunt says its Icelandic??) but Teavana has everything and it all tastes like heaven! If you ever need someone to talk tea to, im your girl! I drink tea all the time, literally everyday!

and Chai and Green tea are my favorites! Black is pretty good too, but Chai is better in my opinion. Green Tea and Chai are good to make lattes with

well shit i've been drinking Celestial Seasonings, this is awkward

For hot tea I almost always drink black tea, which tends to have caffeine if that matters to you (helps with headaches, which is nice). Chai tea especially is my favorite kind, it's got great flavor and aroma- I could get high just sniffing the tea leaves, man. Stash is a good brand that I've been using off and on for several years, and they've got a pretty big variety of like every kind of tea, I'd look them up either online or in store.

I love hot tea, but I don't really have a favourite brand. The only thing I can recommend is to stay away from Marshmellow-flavoured tea. Had it once and then very quickly ejected it into a toilet via my mouth.

I usually use tea bags coz I'm lazy...but when I use loose leaf I just go to one of those specialized tea shops to buy it. The people there are really helpful

When it comes to brewing tea in a coffee maker, I use Lipton. I rarely drink some hot tea. I would just pour some cold tea (already made) in a cup and microwave it.

My mom once threw a tea party at my aunt's house and I did drink from a teacup, using those tea bags. I forgot the flavor and brand though.

My favorite tea is Oolong. I'm not a tea person, so I couldn't really tell you much about it, and I don't know any good brands (I just get my oolong from a local Chinese restaurant, they give gangbusters of tea-bags with their take-out), so yeah.

Chai tea is the only tea that exists.

I guess green's okay, too. And certain fruity stuff. But seriously, chai.

There's not much to preparation. You have your choice of those pre-made tea bags where you can literally just stick it in a mug, fill it with water and microwave it. Loose-leaf teas usually need a teapot that comes with a filter. Technically you can use a filter for a mug, but trust me, you feel so much fancier (or more pretentious) when you prepare it with a real teapot.

I usually buy my tea organic from a local health food store, just to make sure there's no rotten chemicals I'm ingesting. My favorite brand, Alvita, uses only 100% natural ingredients. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for the flavor, it really depends on the time of day.

---Earl Grey is a great morning tea, with smooth flavor and a little bit of caffeine for a pick-me-up.

---Green is good for any time of day, but I usually like to pack in those antioxidants during a midmorning break.

---Black is an excellent 2 p.m. caffeine alternative that will give you just enough caffeine to keep you going until adrenaline kicks in and carries you into the evening.

---Chamomile is a great day-finisher. Nice and steamy, no caffeine. Sweeten it with a little bit of honey and you've got a lullaby in a cup.

As you can tell, I'm a pretty big tea drinker. But, of course, all things in moderation. :)
