Ven 4 Posted August 4, 2010 Why would you do this? It doesn't make any sense. There's not only positive and neutral in this world, you know.
DragonMaster 1,166 Posted August 4, 2010 This thread should explain it.
Kaiso 2,764 Posted August 4, 2010 Basically, too many people caused unnecessary fights and arguments because of the neg-rep, and it eventually was getting ridiculous how offended some people were by it. Though I would say, you can basically do the same thing with a neutral, with the idea that you had put a positive rep before hand. ._. -- But still. Overall, it was to prevent SOME of the silly arguments from happening, which it has. Though to be honest ._. sometimes negreps were necessary to make some people realize that maybe they were doing something wrong. But meh. I was going to lock it since a discussion has already been made, and the answer to this thread is in the discussion, but I guess people can talk here about why they think it shouldn't have been removed? ._. If it should be locked then another staff can lock it.
Ven 4 Posted August 5, 2010 I see, thanks for the answers. Read the following only if you do want to see me rage: Seriously: What the firetruck? Forbid negative comments??? Avoid fighting?? Just what the firetruck has gone wrong???? This is probably one of the MOST usual things in the world. There're ALWAYS and EVERYWHERE fights when there's dissenssion. But instead of letting people try to discuss the matter and let them move on one step towards autonomy, you're forbiding it to keep them trapped in a social periphery (this forum, in that case) they'll face nothing but a canting community? I wholeheartedly have NEVER heard something this ridiculous. About that reputation stuff: I, for one, would then prefer to have it removed. Of course, I'm not the one deciding this, but if you're trying to be honest to yourselves for only ONCE, you'll agree that everybody just can't be evaluated good. And that alternative of giving someone a neutral reputation makes me become desperate even more. Stuff like Yin and Yang isn't just there without cause, you know. This solution is so childish it makes my head ache so hard. JESUS.
sneezes 73 Posted August 6, 2010 dude, it's not like we don't agree. we know that sometimes the only way to get through some people's thick skulls is to actually give them a neg rep but since most, (not saying all the times), it only caused really big, stupid problems. people would get pissed and overreact, bla bla. we're trying to keep this forum as positive and comfortable as possible, you know.../:
heartless101 83 Posted August 6, 2010 well latley, I felt as if I needed to give someone a neg rep and I thought it would've been useful and it would've made that person come to their senses that would be the only time I would wish to have the neg rep option (dont worry this problem has been resolved)
Aaron 579 Posted August 6, 2010 Totally off topic; Yin and Yang does not mean good and bad. It means Light and Dark. Dark does not necessary mean bad or evil, it just means "without light". Yes im sure you all wanted to know that. Anyway. I agree with Ven on some points. However lots of people seem to get upset about absolutely nothing, and therefore became really upset with a negative reputation. If you wish to tell someone something negative, please just PM them, but be nice about it. Reputation isnt that important anyway.
Space Cowboy 1,392 Posted August 6, 2010 Sometimes PMs don't fix the problem, but I understand the "unnecessary fight" scenario. It's just the negative reps make things so much easier. Instead of sending PMs and IMs, you can just press neg, and BOOM. Your done. Won't have anything else to do with that person. You most likely will get a neg back, but how people react is the problem. Since neutral is the new negative, it's kinda....meh. It's easier to express your feelings with red, lolidk, then be neutral, because you can outright dislike the person. Idk, negatives just seem better imo, but its you and DChiuchs site, and whatever decision you make, I'm sure it's for the best of KH13.
Sorage55 10 Posted August 6, 2010 Hmm, so yet another thing has changed since my absence. Negative rep is gone? That is understandable, but leaving behind Neutral rep is just a nuisance. Neutral doesn't make sense without Positive and Negative, and without Negative, things become off balance with the extra weight of Neutral. I say we should also remove Neutral rep, and go simply on positive rep only. That would be logical to me, but to others it is up to them. What do ye say on this thought? This, more or less, is what I've had in my mind. However, I don't care, I just wanted to let off some steam and that's what I've done above. ..Aaron: In Chinese philosophy' date=' the concept of yin yang is used to describe how [b']polar or seemingly contrary forces[/b] are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other in turn. CardCaptorDeadpool 386 Posted August 7, 2010 Sorage is right, you should go the whole hog and remove neutral since it'll degenerate so far into the new negative that it'll spark more shit storms
DChiuch 5,773 Posted August 7, 2010 Sorage is right, you should go the whole hog and remove neutral since it'll degenerate so far into the new negative that it'll spark more shit storms If people start abusing it, we'll do that. People were abusing the negative option, so we removed that. However, so far, we haven't had any problem with neutral reputations.
heartless101 83 Posted August 8, 2010 I dont think that we should delete neutral reps because it is very helpful for me to this one person....

CardCaptorDeadpool 386 Posted August 8, 2010 One member is not equal to 2,523 others, Heartless. Actually less than 200 registered members use the site daily so realistically its like 180 at most not 2,
RoxSox 3,593 Posted August 9, 2010 My point still stands.
CardCaptorDeadpool 386 Posted August 10, 2010 My point still stands. True but when you factor in that 20 plus members are here to RP more than anything that kinda brings the number down more.

Think Pink 1,967 Posted August 25, 2010 I never really wanted to neg rep anyone, because then you've got all the petty arguments to deal with. Neutral just gets the point across for them to change their actions, minus all of the fighting. I think it's a good idea.
RoxSox 3,593 Posted August 25, 2010 What bothers me with Neutral reps is that you have no notifaction that you have one... With positive, you see your number goes up, negative it goes down, but when someone rates you neutral it's gonna take a little while for you to realize, sometimes days... or weeks even! Zexion's_Lover_46 76 Posted August 31, 2010 Neutrals are quite addling. I got a neutral and thought it was bad(sorry butterflylexi!). I agree that we should only be able to give out positive reps because people can still leave negative comments when giving you a neutral to let you know that they really wanted to give you a negative. I think that if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all.
pspgameboy 6 Posted September 12, 2010 Meh. Might as well just get rid of the rep system in the future since most people here just do reps for reps.
ObsidianEagle 103 Posted September 12, 2010 Meh. Might as well just get rid of the rep system in the future since most people here just do reps for reps. yeah, well DC said that it would be too annoying to have to filter out all stupid reps like that. it would be good though, i have quite a few 'I ratd u so raet me pl0x' type reps which really annoy me (in several ways)
heartless101 83 Posted September 12, 2010 @koolkingdom: Yeah, those reps annoy me the most. Like the ones like this "Here's a rep for nothing" or "Heres a rep to make you even" or "Here's a rep to make you odd"
Think Pink 1,967 Posted September 12, 2010 I don't even think those should count ._. I want a rep for something a said or did, not 'cause you want one back from me. There should be someone who sorts through all of that or something.
