Smithee 327 Posted January 21, 2015 Ven's Armor, since it failed to protect Sora. Why bother having the Armor there at all, then, Nomura?
HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted January 21, 2015 It was supposed to, doesn't mean that it did a good job at it. Besides, Riku is so OP in DDD, of course the armor couldn't stand up to him; nothing could. 2 Movies798 and VisitJoan reacted to this

HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) The armor had a few purposes : 1- to prevent Sora from being completely consumed in darkness giving Riku a chance at recovering him 2- It showed how much progress Ven's heart is in starting to 'wake up' 3- Gameplay. Nomura wanted another fight so the ending wouldn't be too anti-climatic : Riku really rose to the occasion, especially in the final battle, shouting lines like, “Still there?” As tension leading to the end of the story, I steadily added bosses that weren’t originally planned since it’d feel anticlimactic without a battle. As I was making progress writing the scenarios, I called the Osaka development team and asked if they could add more. The battle with the armor after the last dive was one that they added for me, I didn’t think it’d be clearly understood without a fight sequence. DevilSpooky 77 Posted January 21, 2015 WTF, so everything in fiction has to work all the time? Why bother putting the main characters in danger if they can't be touched at all by the bad guys? Seriously... And besides the armor did what it intended to do, to protect Sora's heart for being consumed by darkness, but by doing it it ended being consumed itself by it, so instead of protecting him completely it made the process take more time for him to be lost, time that was enough for Riku to clear it for good. 2 luka and Movies798 reacted to this

It's happened before. WTF, so everything in fiction has to work all the time? Good fiction does, yes.
DevilSpooky 77 Posted January 21, 2015 Yeah, but even if Sora's heart was consumed by darkness, Kairi could just hug him or whatever and he'd be fine. It's happened before. Good fiction does, yes. Yeah because Kairi was right there to do it... Kairi managed to do it before because she got there in time, if she took longer Sora would've been completely lost and nothing she could do to save him. And no, bad fiction, good fiction lets the good guys be in danger from time to time, bad fictions makes the good guys always win at ease with no danger at all. 1 Movies798 reacted to this

Great... except the fight would've been no different without the Armor; Riku would've beaten Nightmare!Sora and restored him to normal anyway. All it accomplished was kicking Ven while he was already down (as Aizen MX had already revealed that TAV sacrificed themselves for nothing) and kneecapping his hero credibility. All it accomplished was kicking Ven while he was already down (as MX had already revealed that TAV sacrificed themselves for nothing) and kneecapping his hero credibility. Ven wasn't fighting, he summoned his armor to protect Sora, and it did just that, it just ended up being consumed by darkness instead of Sora, thus providing the time needed for Riku to defeat it and save Sora for good, if Sora ended up being consumed there was nothing Riku could've done to save him other then destroy him completely. All it accomplished was kicking Ven while he was already down (as MX had already revealed that TAV sacrificed themselves for nothing) and kneecapping his hero credibility. It didn't really kick Ven. Ven's heart has been slowly waking up since Roxas awakened Ven's keyblade. Since Sora has done so much for him it's only natural Ven would attempt to help him. Look at how Ven smiled in CO in the end of DDD.It's symbolic and served a storyline purpose to use Ven's armor. Movies798 1,359 Posted January 21, 2015 Ven's Armor was doing what it was supposed to do. It was supposed to protect Sora and it did, however the armor got consumed by the darkness. Come on what do you really expect? You want Ventus just stay there and watch Sora being consumed by darkness? Sora gave Ven's heart a home to sleep until the day Sora will give Ventus heart back so of course Ventus would help a friend in need. However what I really what to know is where Roxas and Xion's heart? Why was only Ventus heart there to protect Sora from darkness but not Roxas and Xion's heart? 1 luka reacted to this
Forever 3,550 Posted January 21, 2015 1. Not every plan in a story has to work thoroughly, ya know? 2. The Armour did at least one thing- kept him from losing his heart again. 3. While it didn't save Terra, the armour itself wasn't corrupted. By comparison, this darkness overwhelmed the armour's protective properties so this is some pretty powerful darkness 1 HarLea Quinn reacted to this

By comparison, this darkness overwhelmed the armour's protective properties so this is some pretty powerful darkness I agree to a point we have no way of knowing what would have happened if Ventus hadn't intervened. That's why I put up the two possibilities as it would all come down to how strong Sora's heart really is.

What kind of weird fictions are you reading? I'm hoping you're not seriously expecting me to name every good piece of fiction that makes consistent sense; suffice to say, most of them are classics, and they're classics for a reason. Kingdom Hearts is an absurd anomaly with how badly the story works, not the average rule. Also never doubt the vague ill-defined powers of a Princess of Heart. The writers would absolutely make up some bullshit power for Kairi if they had to, they just chose to make up some bullshit power for Ventus' armor instead, and only because they got a cool boss fight out of it.
