WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted January 20, 2015 When there is a remake or remaster that comes out for a game you already own and you get the new version, what do you do with your old copy? Do you go back to playing it or do you not touch it again? I just wanted to know what you guys do. For me, it's hard for me to go back to the old copy because the new one is more easy to access for me now because of how newer electronics are easier to have hooked up already. bit 944 Posted January 20, 2015 I keep it on my shelf to look pretty and never play it again just like all my old games actually, it depends if I like how they did the remaster
Sorarocks93 678 Posted January 20, 2015 I... did something very bad, I blasphemed.... After my PS2 broke in 2007 I thought I'd never play console games again so I just gave them away...
Omega Ness 112 Posted January 20, 2015 If I like the Remaster more, I'll give the other copy to charity or whatever. They may not have the better game, but they'd at least HAVE the game!
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted January 20, 2015 I keep them. I find myself going back to the PS2 KH II and FF 10 out of habit, as example. I'd regret getting rid of the old ones.
Skhyatze 165 Posted January 20, 2015 KH2FM PS2 is a key part in my religion. So I will never leave it. Personally, I really like going back with the old copies. Just something about the way the game originally was satisfies me. 1 Official Bowtie Artist reacted to this

VexenReplica 154 Posted January 20, 2015 I look at how stupid I was in my childhood from time to time by booting up old save files from the originals. So yeah, you can say I keep them.
Sora96 17,256 Posted January 20, 2015 Just leave them on the shelf. 1 BlankShell reacted to this
Official Bowtie Artist 90 Posted January 20, 2015 I've kept mine. My old PS2 broke a while back, and I've procrastinated when it comes to fixing it. So no playing the old games, but I wish I could. For nostalgia purposes, that is.
RoxSox 3,593 Posted January 20, 2015 I keep all my old copies, because chances are if I bought the remaster that means it's a game I enjoy, and I likely have good memories attached to the original. I don't go back to playing the original unless there were major changes in the game in the remaster or unless I want to relive a more nostalgiac memory, or unless I just feel like comparing the two. BlankShell 638 Posted January 20, 2015 Depends, I guess. Likely a remaster offers something new BESIDES just updated graphics; for KH, it's trophies and additional content, so I wouldn't really want to go back to playing the old versions. However, despite the upscaled graphics for Re:Coded, I'd still actually like to go and PLAY it, so I can deal with some DS level graphics for that. For Pokemon, aside from the graphical overhauls, it's the connectivity; playing older versions is self-contained because I can't transfer any of that progress to newer versions, so I'd rather play the newer versions and have that mean something. I still don't have any particular inclination to get rid of my games, though.
