I'm in pain but mostly bored

Recommended Posts

So I just got my wisdom teeth pulled and now I'm house-bound for at least today. Does anyone have any recommendations as to something to watch or play? Or a nice uplifting story of how you got through toothache? :)

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, what the surgeon told me (about two months prior to the surgery actually happening) was to record a bunch of shows. I ended up watching, for three days straight (basically), 2 seasons of Pokemon, when they were actually pulled. And because I was on a bunch of medication, the simplistic and repeating plotline was good for my head - it didn't force me to think much. I was sick of it the third day, though, but the first twoish days it was good.

Hopefully this helps you fight boredom!

uplifting tooth stories?

when I got my wisdom teeth removed, it caused my teeth to start sliding backwards, so I get excruciating toothaches at random every now and then :D

After I got my six wisdom teeth out (yes, six), I was pretty grumpy. My jaw was sore, I gained chipmunk cheeks, and I couldn't eat anything harder than mashed potatoes or soup. I mainly just played video games to distract myself from the unpleasant stuff, like how I started to spit the blood into a cup because the gauze was annoying and kept getting soaked. Oh, and later on after my jaw recovered enough where eating became more or less normal, I noticed my cheeks were swelling again, and that there was pus leaking from the incisions. It turned out a tiny piece of food got into them at some point. I went back there so they could pump out my gums. That day just happened to fall in the middle of Anime Expo, and in my panic I decided to skip it.

Oh, an uplifting story? Uh... eventually I was able to physically open my mouth wide enough to finally jam something bigger than a spoon in it.

Well, okay, it actually wasn't that bad outside of the first day, and I overreacted with the swelling's return -- it was easily resolved and, if I recall, is somewhat common. And skipping Anime Expo wasn't a big loss since it was boring that year, anyway (incidentally it may have been the last time I went). It sucked on the first day, since the surgery was fresh, but I took my pain medication and resigned myself to soft foods, and the rest was a minor annoyance. Though I'll never again take my jaw mobility for granted.

I got lucky.  I thought I didn't have them, but I can feel new teeth coming in.  The good news is they don't bother me so I don't have to do anything.

I got mine taken out when I was like 18 or 19. The surgery went great and I was put on painkillers. I don't remember those two weeks very well 'cause the painkillers had me feeling weird and I would sleep a lot. :/ I would just try to sleep as much as you can so your mouth will heal faster.
