Tails 6,692 Posted January 1, 2015 Hey guys. So remember when I talked about how I was going to be getting a PS4 soon? Well, I've been thinking of trying to buy a PS4 game to go along with my console so I'll have something to play it so it won't just collect dust. ANd I've been thinking of buying The Last of Us Remastered since I've never gotten around to buying the game yet (too many good games keep coming out, haha ) But I also kinda want to get the GOTY PS3 editrion since that has all the DLC And it's cheaper too( and yes I know the Remastered version has all the DLC too). Which version of the game should I buy? I really could use some opinions on this.

Drones 58 Posted January 1, 2015 the remastered has higher frames and better graphics. Trust me when i say that frames make a huge difference! No it doesn't lol all they do is bump up the resolution and rework the textures you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, the graphics are the exact same. Drones 58 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) either way frames are still better. Frames being better will barely make any difference or be completely forgotten altogether as their rate drops every two seconds in shitty HD remasters like Kingdom Hearts 2. If you think frames don't make a difference you don't know what in the world your talking about. Why do you think people like pc games so much? it's because it runs smoother and has better FPS
BlankShell 638 Posted January 1, 2015 Go for the PS4 version. It's a smoother experience. 1 Neptune Vasilias reacted to this

Drones 58 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) If you think frames don't make a difference you don't know what in the world your talking about. Why do you think people like pc games so much? it's because it runs smoother and has better FPS I'm going to try and tone this down so no one gets butthurt and my post gets deleted... I clearly stated FPS won't matter when the frame rate drops every second for no apparent reason like it does in Kingdom Hearts 2 and countless other remasters for the PS3. Maybe you took this quite literally, more so than I intended. I know that FPS matters, but no one cares about that when the game can't run smoothly. You saying remasters have better graphics is a lot more embarrassing and perhaps unintelligible (I hope this doesn't get deleted). Even my 10 year old cousin who played Ratchet and Clank 1 on PS2 and PS3 was able to tell the only difference in the PS3 version was that it was in HD and made for flat screen TVs.... lmao. And people don't like PC games because of high FPS LOL. People like PC games because of the graphics, the accessibility, convenience, etc. claims someone doesn't know what they're talking about claims that FPS doesn't matter Oh it's you again, you seem to not care about proving me right when I say you post in every topic. What I said to the other person applies to you. Edited January 1, 2015 by Drones 1 OmegaForte reacted to this

And sometimes, PC games have issues because the developers don't port the games properly. As for the topic question, you should go ahead and get the PS4 version. 1 Tails reacted to this

DragonMaster 1,166 Posted January 2, 2015 I've not played the Remaster, but I've read that it's a pretty good upgrade. I'd say get the remaster if you can spare the extra cash.
J. Severe 1,137 Posted January 2, 2015 If you care more about pretty graphics and higher fps, get the PS4 ver. If you care about getting all of the content for a cheap price, get the PS3 ver. Or you can buy them both, Naughty Dog probably deserves the money for making such a good game.
Jim 2,990 Posted January 2, 2015 Man, this thread got hostile really quickly. I'd say go for Remastered. I've only played the PS3 version of TLOU (and loved it btw), but from what I hear the remastered version is excellent. That and the PS3 frame rate sometimes chugs like your mom at the bacon buffet. It's not always like that, but go for the PS4 version if you think frame rate dips would bother you
Weedanort 8,786 Posted January 2, 2015 It depends really: If you want to play the original experience, get the original versions. If you want to play the game with smooth running, and good graphics for nowadays (And if you don't mind if there can be any lag or something like that comparing to the original version), then get the remaster

Jim 2,990 Posted January 2, 2015 So what parts of the game had frame rate problems on the PS3 version? It's been a while since I played, so I don't remember all of them specifically. But I'm pretty sure the frame rate would start stuttering more in parts where the sun is shining and forcing the game to cast more intricate shadows and stuff. It's not unplayable. Not by a long shot. But it's still noticeable
hatok 6,413 Posted January 2, 2015 So what parts of the game had frame rate problems on the PS3 version? Pretty much the entire game ran below the FPS cap, from what I've heard, with particularly enemy intensive places causing more severe lag
