Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted December 25, 2014 If you're like me and got a awesome new PS4 for Christmas, you'll probably be freaking out right now because you can't connect online. Just to let you all know, a hacker group known as Lizard Squad hacked into PSN and Xbox Live. So now both servers are down and it's impossible to connect online. Figures a bunch of jerks would ruin Christmas. TurtleDay 9 Posted December 25, 2014 Yeah, that sucks. Anyone know how long it takes Sony and Microsoft to fix this usually?
Dio Brando 5,810 Posted December 25, 2014 Well my 3DS and Wii U can connect online just fine so I guess the holiday is saved for me Anyway hopefully this gets fixed soon and hopefully they'll up the strength of their firewalls for their servers

Shulk 8,623 Posted December 25, 2014 Not saying this is the reason for sure... But it could also just be that the amount of people accessing PSN/Xbox Live with their new systems was too much for the servers to handle and they went down, and this group is taking credit for it. The Nintendo Network was down for two days last Christmas because of server overloads.

I think Sony/Microsoft would have let people know if the the reason was server overloads, but maybe you're right. They hope to simply achieve fame. They have nothing else to do in their crappy lives True that.
Shulk 8,623 Posted December 25, 2014 I think Sony/Microsoft would have let people know if the the reason was server overloads, but maybe you're right. True that. From what I remember, Nintendo didn't say anything about the server overload last year until a while after it happened. I also feel like Sony and Microsoft would let people know if it was something as serious as a hack. That's still a possibility, but I feel like a server overload would make a lot of sense this time of the year.

Last year, some people were able to go through with Nintendo. No one is getting through here. Not only that, it's so bad for Xbox that you can't even go onto Xbox.com. It won't load. KeybladeMasterBalo 504 Posted December 25, 2014 What the firetruck does the lizard squad hope to accomplish with this???!!!they really make me sick...Well perhaps they are trying to get to accounts information in order to get games or use a members money to their own benefit, all of this under the name of a user you know? HikariYami 354 Posted December 25, 2014 Some pieces of shit really wanted to take down the server to mess up people's holiday and jeopardize security. They could use their talents for something better. I wanted to play XBONE today, but that is not the case.

Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) The Lizard Squad are probably college drop-outs that live in their grandmother's basments, merely seeking sadistic fame through douchey acts on the internet because they lack any kind of life whatsoever.~ I mean, just look at their twitter page. It kills my brain cells. Edited December 25, 2014 by Hargleblargleboo 1 Gijs Potters reacted to this
PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) UGH! I wanted to play the free FFXIV trial If they steal money or do something really bad we'll probably get free stuff so I guess there's a positive side... Aang 649 Posted December 25, 2014 Yeah, that sucks. Anyone know how long it takes Sony and Microsoft to fix this usually? Don't know. But the "Lizard Squad" says that they will take both down for good. Doubt it though.

I'm holding out on saying what it specifically is until either company makes an announcement, though. It could be either one for all we know. Dat Pokebank I forgot that was part of it, too. I think it was mostly all of the people who made new NNIDs for their new 3DS or Wii U that caused it, though. Pokebank just helped. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

Apparently this month the two hacking groups have been going at it as a full blown hacking war. Here's the Finest Squad's Twitter. They claim that they're restoring Xbox Live and are currently working on PSN. https://mobile.twitter.com/FinestSquad/tweetsThey also claim that they got the Lizard Squad's Twitter down, and that they got a Lizard member arrested.Yep, been having this problem with my new ps4 all day ;_;Join the club. ;-; Lets play some PS4 and celebrate when PSN goes online

A lot of people would be really concerned if some hack happened and they were never told.
