Nathan Hatton 274 Posted December 8, 2014 KH3D did not change the definition of a nobody. They are still the leftover shells that don't have hearts. Nobodies can obtain hearts though. They can be grown, look at some of the organization members who started having feelings. Roxas doesn't really count, though he did grow his own heart, but he also likely had the heart of Ventus inside him, influencing his appearance. Other members were to grow hearts that would be copies of xehanort's heart. So the organization members were definitely nobodies 6 SkullMajora, Shana09, Col.Random and 3 others reacted to this

Like Namine and Roxas were told they were special nobodies, is it because they were actual Nobodies unlike the rest of them? Yes a Heartless is the darkness in a person's heart made flesh, the reason for Nobodies not having hearts is that, when they are 'born' they really don't have hearts at all, but are capable of slowly developing them. Like Xemnas said "But understand, one can banish they heart from the body, but the body will try to replace it the first chance it gets" It seems like a "sense of self" is a requirement for growing a heart ("Our experiments, creating Heartless, where attempts to control the mind and convince it to relinquish it's sense of self") Humanoid nobodies have this sense of self, provided by their memories from when they where human, that gives them foundation on which a heart can grow. But even a Nobody without memories, like Roxas, can develop a heart by connecting with others and thereby forming his own sense of self, independent from Sora. And when a heart does come into being, it can grow stronger by forming meaningful bonds with others ("Once born, a heart can also be nurtured") A stronger heart is harder to control, so the Nobody's with weaker hearts where the ideal vessels for Xemnas, yet despite this, it seems Xemnas only went after the members with stronger hearts (Xigbar, Saix, though he had his eyes on Roxas too, or rather, the Sora clone that Roxas would become after being absorbed by Xion) Though it think this only applies to humanoid nobodies, not the lesser ones. Nick Sideris 1,551 Posted December 8, 2014 I do think (but I could be wrong) that a heartless is made out of the darkness inside someone's heart . The leftover of the heart is getting the shape of what we call "Nobody" . Or what's left from someone's body (everything apart from the heart) actually develop a new heart while the person is still , what we call ,a "Nobody" .
