Hopes: Multiple playable characters

With kh3 coming, id say my biggest hope for it is were not just stuck playing only as sora the whole way through. I mean a game this epic, we need multiple storylines, not just one playable character, but like 2, 3 maybe 4. It shouldnt be like bbs where each character sees a different portion of each worlds story. Each character should visit their own different set of worlds. And you shouldnt have to play them only one at a time. you should either get to switch freely, or they switch at set points. If they go with the former rather than the latter, heres what they should do... When and only when you complete each story for each characters set of worlds should you be able to go on to go to the final battle. Im hoping for riku and kairi as playable characters. Riku cause ive kinda liked the games where we see things from his perspective. and kairi, cause well im sick of seeing her as the token damsel in distress. now that shes a keyblade wielder, i want to see her cut loose and show us what she can do. one other possiblity would be mickey, cause heck weve never seen things from his point of view before. Hes only hae appearances here or there. Part of me wants to know just what the heck hes been doing all this time. Maybe have them go back one day and show what hes been up to from the beginning making him an actual playable character would ve a step in the right direction.

I want something like You do a world with Sora, then after that you get a new character segment like Riku. After that Do another Sora world. Then a Lea part. Just bounce back and forth between Sora and side character story. That way Sora is still the main focus, but you get a lot of the backround done.

We'll probably play as Sora, Riku, and Kairi because they're the "KH Trinity". But I'd love to play as Terra and Axel.

splitting the characters means less content and quality per character. I want Sora fully fleshed out, not another Birth by Sleep

Just Sora, please. I'll accept it with a Riku/Mickey case as is was in KH2, but that's it. The game feels more complete with just one character to focus on..

 

I suppose it won't make sense with the final battle being only Sora, though. I'd be okay with different characters then.

Not necessarily, PS4 disk can hold a lot of data and this game is going to be massive, I bet each character could have a story about as long as the original KH was, or at the very least 7 full worlds each.That's plenty of time for content.

It's a plain and simple fact, if there are more characters they will be less fleshed out, because time spent on those characters is time not spent on Sora. Terra Aqua and Ventus didn't lack depth because of the PSP disk space, it was because there were three characters.

But look at 1.5 and 2.5 even with the updated graphics (although admittedly poorer than those of a new PS3 game) each of those disk hold two full games, and the PS4 can handle more, the disk space may not directly impact a characters development, but it does allow for a longer game, which in turn is more time for characters to be fleshed out.

Disk space as stopped being a liming factor in the length of games a long time ago. And I seriously don't understand your logic in stating that making the game longer somehow means the characters will be more fleshed out. The longer the game is, the further resources are spread. The game doens't magically gain new resources as the project expands. If KH3 only had one world it'd be the best damn world in the series history, becuase all of the resources are going into that one thing

Longer game=more screen time/content for the characters. More screen time=more opportunities for development. More development=More fleshed out characters. We already have all their back stories so that's half the fleshing out done already.Though now that I think about it, a well-written character doesn't even need a lot of screen time to be developed. If the writing is good enough a character can be fleshed out in 5-10 scenes. Of course that also means that, once again, multiple playable characters wouldn't necessarily water down each character.

 

You say you want Sora fully fleshed out, I'd say he's pretty fleshed out already, we already know everything there is to know about the guy.

I'd like to see different stories with different characters . As I've said before , we could even change between them without having to restart the game in a similar to GTA V style of changing to another character .

Not necessarily: you can have a well developed character and still keep throwing him into situations where you can learn even more about him. It's that sort of writing that's kept comic book characters relevant after so many years: they have a base personality, but they still have room for growth, depending on what they run into.

I agree with this. Quite frankly I've seen enough of fan servicing other characters at Sora's expense time to bring the focus back onto the main character.

Part of the reason comic book characters stay round so long is also because, every so often, the serial gets a reboot that complete changes the universe said character exists in. That's were the term "retcon" originally came from, a complete rewrite of a character's back story.
