Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted December 6, 2014 Who's birth is the title "Birth By Sleep" talking about? Ventus's? He does go into a deep sleep, and DAYS seems to mention that Xemnas is looking for a "Chamber of Repose", but that would mean Ventus hasn't woken yet, and you wouldn't refer to it as a "Birth" exactly. Does it refer to the worlds that are considered "Sleeping" or destroyed in KHi like Castle of Dreams? Or is it Riku's start on the path to using a keblade from Terra? The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Well, from where I stand, I believe that Birth By Sleep is more of a symbolic title, referring to a person's awakening. It's basically the prologue, the piece of the puzzle that shows us where everything began. And, well, I think Birth By Sleep also refers to the fact that Ventus' heart was reborn when Sora offered to keep his heart safe, so he would be able to sleep inside Sora's heart, a birth by sleep. At least, that's what I think. Edited December 6, 2014 by Shigehiko 3 Forever, Ruby Rose and Aru Akise reacted to this

According to Vexen, everyone is awaiting his or her "birth by sleep" which makes me wonder if it could be hinting at some reincarnation going on in the series. Judging by the *SPOILER* fact that most of the current Keyblade wielders have inherited their blades from people who lived before them, the idea of literal reincarnation isn't entirely bogus. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

That's the beauty of the Kingdom Hearts series. Everything has a meaning in the series, including its titles. And yes, reincarnation has certainly been a theme in the Kingdom Hearts series, just look at Xehanort! That guy has achieved birth by sleep a hell of a lot already! KH4Real 749 Posted December 6, 2014 Indeed this remains to a game that was asleep during the other games and that was awaken or rebirth. This doesn't mean anything with Ven yes he was asleep at the end of 3D.

Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) I always thought there was literal reincarnation in Kingdom Hearts, not just heart takeovers, Nobodies, or Keyblade Inheritance, but the same person living multibpel lives throughout time. I always figured,Kingdom Hearts:1.Is the source of all hearts, right?2.All hearts are eventually supposed to return there right? And with reincarnation.1.The body dies,2. the sould is wiped clean of all pase mepriies.3. Is send out to be reborn in a new body. And In the series, the heart takes on all the metaphysical properties attributed to the soul IRL, right? So what if Kingdom Hearts just takes in and spits out the same hearts over and over again? I know Sora's Heart tells Ven I'm a brand new heart just born into the world" But when a person is reincarnated, they aren't supposed to retain memories of their previous lives right? So maybe Kingdome Hearts takes in hearts, scrubs their memries clean, and then sends them out to be reborn into new bodies. So when a heart is being sent into a new body it has no past memories and would think that it is brand new. I know we also have the underworld, but what if that's only where souls go when they die? And what if the memories removed from the heart stay with, or are transferred the to soul by Kingdom Hearts?Nobodies (despite the fact that they can develop one) are not created with a heart, but keep their memories, except for Roxas, this is explained by the memories taking a little time to flow into the Nobody (a process extended exponentially fro Roxas due to Xion being designed to catch them).at when a Perso becoems a heartless, the heart remains earthbound without it's light as a heartless so it doesn't return to Kingdom hearts, meaning Kingdom hearts cannot wipe the memories away, and the Soul its till in the body so maybe Kingdom hearts could move the memories to the soul anyway? Or maybe because the heat and souls are still earthbound the memories don't need Kingdom hearts to act as an intermediary? To simplify, for anyone who has played Tales of Xillia 2, Maybe Kingdom Hearts works the same way as the Land Of Cannan. I know Square doesn't make the Tales games, but that doesn't mean comparisons can't be drawn, specially in regards to something with a counterpart in some real-world belief systems A theory with a lot of holes but an interesting one I think. (Of course I think that, it's mine) Edited December 6, 2014 by Isamu_Kuno 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
