Square Enix's Eidos-Montréal announces the ‘Dawn Engine™’

Recommended Posts

Eidos-Montréal, the award-winning Square Enix studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution® and THIEF™, today announces the ‘Dawn Engine™’, their new, state of the art game engine that will be the cornerstone to the development of the Deus Ex Universe projects at the studio.

The Dawn Engine, based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier™ 2 engine, features new technology that allows for improved rendering capabilities, real-time physics, and advanced artificial intelligence programming, among other things. An official screenshot from the Dawn Engine can be found below.

Hmm, wonder if they're going to ditch it during development like they did with some other Engine of theirs. Cough cough-Luminous-cough cough

Don't compare the Japanese studios with the Western ones.

Don't worry about that when the whole point of my sentence is to play down on the fact Square changed Engine during Kingdom Hearts III development.

Yeah, and it's a big shame they did. But they had little choice.

I still don't understand why would they undergo such trouble, Yasue himself said there was nothing wrong with Luminous at all.

He says that and the truth is no game is only going to be running the engine. The creator of the engine left Square Enix.

You mean they ditched their own brand new next-gen Engine because the creator of it skedaddled? Why so, I take it they have license issues?
