Dio Brando 5,810 Posted November 26, 2014 Ever since Ocarina of Time, they hate every upcoming Zelda game that gets released after it.But as soon as another game is released after the game they were just hating on they suddenly love it and hail it as the best in the series....etc They hated Majora's Mask until Windwaker came out They hated Wind Waker until Twilight Princess came out. They hated Twilight Princess until Skyward Sword came out ....etc This cycles keep on repeating itself every single time a new Zelda game is released and suddenly they love the game they were just trashing years ago.Can they ever make up their mind? No seriously as a Zelda fan I can never understand this fanbase. They trashed Wind Waker when it first came out on the GameCube but suddenly 5+ years later they suddenly love it? Not every Zelda game has to be like Ocarina of Time heck as much as I love and praise Ocarina of Time I honestly love Twilight Princess,Wind Waker and Majora's Mask over it heck Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted November 26, 2014 I try to appreciate every zelda game that came out and will come out so I can avoid the zelda fanbase's never ending zelda cycle.
Ven983 490 Posted November 26, 2014 This is so true. Watching old videos of people reviewing or talking about Wind Waker is just a complete and total bash of the game, but after the HD version came out I could find nothing but love for the game. I personally look forward to every game and appreciate all the things that they do. I am sure Zelda Wii U will receive plenty of hate though. 1 Kittenz reacted to this

Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted November 26, 2014 Zelda isnt the only series to have that. Just about every fanbase has this problem. To be honest though, the zelda fanbase isnt like this. Ive been in a lot of the community and no one is doing this.
TheKingdomkid 1,194 Posted November 26, 2014 It's like the Kingdom Hearts series everyone hates every single game that has came out after Kingdom Hearts 2 because it's not Kingdom Hearts
Jilly Shears 2,144 Posted November 26, 2014 The thing is that this is what happens in every popular franchise. However, this is just a theory, but I think what happens is that more people have those games as their introduction to the series, so there's more people that love a certain entry compared to people who hated it as time goes on, if that makes sense.Case in point, Wind Waker. Everyone hated it when it came out, but now a lot of people regard it as one of the best ones. However, I bet a significant amount of people who loved Wind Waker were introduced to the Zelda series from that installment.Same with RSE, where I remember the 2007-08 era where everyone shat on Hoenn, but as we can see there's a lot of people who love it now. Again, not that it's a bad thing, but I think it's because a lot of people were introduced to the series because of that one game, so they don't have the luxury of having been exposed to earlier entries when they were relevant / the nostalgia goggles that go along with it. 2 Dave and Cucco reacted to this
Cucco 1,907 Posted November 26, 2014 Meh, I've only ever liked the top-down Zelda games and Wind Waker.

Forever 3,550 Posted November 26, 2014 Because people are fickle, and don't properly appreciate things until something new shows up. Crowd: "Halo suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks!" *Destiny comes out* Crowd: "This is a rip off of Haloooooooooo!" 2 Exiblade7 and Neptune Vasilias reacted to this
griann 59 Posted November 26, 2014 As already stated by others, that's something that happens in quite a lot of other fandoms, especially if they're popular. And not only games either. I've always been quite isolated from the whole zelda fandom til a few years ago, I loved playing the games I could and didn't know anyone who liked/played it as well. So I've actually never really heard that much about bashing games. Of course I knew there were people who disliked wind waker, or other games, but I don't really communicate that much with people who play zelda, too, so I was able to ignore it. I had it in other fandoms though. I tend to ignore it. Maybe I'm just really easy to please, but I'm not someone who goes around bashing stuff, or saying how much I hate someone/something in general. It's kinda funny to see other people turn a 180, when that happens I'm always like, what just happened? But yeah, just stick with your games and ignore other people
Zola 3,038 Posted November 26, 2014 I'm pretty sure it's just because people are more likely to get up and be vocal when they don't like something, so regardless of the series, every time a new installment comes out you're gonna hear the complaints more than praise. It's not that all of the fans are changing their opinion every time a game comes out, it's that you mostly hear from a minority that doesn't like whatever it is they don't like, and even though its mostly different people each time, it feels like the whole fan base because that's the part that's making the biggest deal over stuff. 4 Dave, Marth, Reyn and 1 other reacted to this

We generally take good things for granted more than the bad things, too. Like nobody will praise a game for not phasing through the ground, but you'll definitely hear about it if that DOES happen. Oftentimes in games a good thing is simply the absence of bad, which is a hard thing to praise Though this also works on the assumption that it's somehow the exact same people over the years changing their opinions over and over
GotMilk5101520 573 Posted November 27, 2014 I've never hate one Zelda game that i've played in my life. I loved Ocarina of Time, i loved Skyward Sword, i loved Wind Waker, i loved Twilight Princess, I would say Majora's Mask, but i never played it. i just watched my sister play it for hours and hours and i would be there cheering her on (much to her annoyist) and i heard people talk how Wind Waker sucks because of how it looks. But i never judge a anything on how it looks, i don't even care if they look like cartoons, i would just watch play or read it. Because that is how i judge things.
