In Ferguson there is a strong distinction between whites and blacks, with whites being cops. They've been dealing with this sort of issue for a long time, now comes to the point that a white cop shot an unarmed black kid caused them to be furious and fed up with it. They aren't crazy, because crazy is implying they are doing extreme things without a reasonable purpose. LET JUSTICE BE SERVED! Wrong. You're seeing a community come together and grieve over the loss of a son, a friend, a student, a HUMAN BEING. To say they don't care about Mike is a slap to the face. Those police officers should be fearful. The law serves us, not the other way around. The police are not trained members of the army and are abusing their power. Witness testimonies were inconsistent? Uh no... just no.. they line up pretty well. This is not an "unnecessary shitstorm." People are suffering, this country is a tragic mess. They are bringing about change. Protests were peaceful for a long time, and the few people that decided to riot do not represent the vast majority. Like seriously if you're more worried about rioting instead of the horrendous acts committed by the police, uncalled for death of a teen, and the systematic racism that is so heavily present in America, you really need to get your priorities in check. You can rebuild a store, but you can never bring back this poor boy's life. there were 9 white jurors and 3 black, not 9 more white then black, that would make it 12 white and 3 black, you seem to have no grasp of reality in this situation, which makes you apart of the problem, if people want to continue to play the race card, then they shouldn't have succumb to stereotypes like they did when they started rioting, and if these people really think damaging there town because of a decision they don't like will help in any way, then they are idiots at the highest level, if the people who didn't like the outcome spent the time and energy they spent destroying their town to help make sure this didn't happen again, things might have improved, but instead, they rioted, burned police cars and buildings to the ground, and the broke into and looted stores owned by innocent people, all the damage they did will cost a hella ton of money, but what the police, gov, and community could have done with the time and money the riots and looting took and will take to fix, they could have improved the situation and at least tried to make sure it wont happen again, but instead they insured more violence, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind and FYI THE RIOTERS ARE ATTACKING THE POLICE AND MEDIA!!! sigh They did not succumb to stereotypes, that's just you being racist. You have no idea how hard it is for a black person (or any person who isn't white) to try and get their voice heard in a country supporting white privilege, unless you yourself are a person of color. Like I said before, the few who resorted to violence do not represent the majority. The police and government are not here to help, get it through your head that they are not on our side. What's going on now will cause change. This isn't the first time an unarmed black kid was murdered. And guess what, cops don't give a shit, they've done nothing to prevent this. Stealing televisions from a McDonalds, or burning down a random diner has not a godamn thing to do with anything. They are nothing more than hecklers, using a tragedy as their personal conduit for disorder and destruction. And if they're gonna act like beasts, then I have absolutely no issue perceiving or treating them as such. White, black, red or blue's got nothing to do with it. The same crap is happening in other cities (though not as intensely), and not limited to races. In short, people are too stupid and irresponsible to comprehend how the system works. Is the system broken? Hell yes. But the funny thing with a broken system, you can always abuse it. But these people don't know how it works, and then bitch about how it doesn't cater to them when they don't even know how to take advantage of it. They don't know how to play the game, and they don't even want to know how. They just want to bitch and moan and cause chaos, and they get no sympathy from me. Only incessant laughter. Just today as I was watching I think Anderson Cooper or that idiot Wolf Blitzer, they were interviewing some father and his kid about all the craziness and some jackass started throwing things at them from the background. These kind of people exist everywhere to be sure, but it's kind of fascinating how this time around they're severely drowning out those with an actual voice. To the few with common sense and intelligence, more power to you. But from what I've seen so far, they only make up like 5% of the damn town. Hence, the whole town gets zero pity from me. And as a side...that kid punched the cop at least twice. He is not even remotely the innocent little martyr they're all making him out to be. He's nothing more than a symbol for civil disobedience, of the very uncivil kind. Edited November 25, 2014 by John Casey
