Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not canon - Jedi Master Shaak Ti is alive

Recommended Posts

The official Star Wars Twitter account has confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not canon. As a result, Jedi Master Shaak Ti, one of the three (four if you count Anakin) remaining members of the Jedi Council post-Order 66, is still alive. Hopefully they deal with this soon.

Oh, good, I'm glad one of the best things to come out of the SW Expanded Universe didn't firetrucking happen.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised too. This was developed by LucasArts and George Lucas approved of the story.

To be honest, i though it had been declared non-canon a while back. Still bothers me to hear it again, though, and this time for certain.  >:(

If you're talking about the Expanded Universe stuff, that's like only post-VI from what I saw.

It bothers me that we got this massive Expanded Universe that went into a ton of detail about a ton of events that took place, and as soon as Disney took over, they told everyone none of it mattered. I don't know how the people who wrote those stories feel, but if I was one of them, I'd be mad to hear that my work was basically demoted to fan fiction.

It was declared non-canon a while back. I heard that the only things considered canon now are the movies and what ever disney poops out.

No, I'd thought that it was declared non-canon back when the Clone Wars movie came out; thinking back, I think it was just that my brother told me that Force Unleashed wasn't canon, I never really did my own research. kinda my own fault. -.-

There would be no reason to do that when The Clone Wars came out. But it occurred earlier this year.

Bothers me too; there have been some downright masterful books, comics and games made in the SW universe, some as good as (or even better) than Empire, and now it's all down the shitter.

Though, to be fair, all the books, comics and games still exist and people can still enjoy them; it's just Disney had to decide none of it is important in any way.

Yeah, i'm realizing that now. I was dumb kid, and I'm still reeling from the aftermath. :P

I'm kinda new to the EU, so I can't comment much on its quality (I'd love to read some of the books and comics), but I still think Disney was being disrespectful when they suddenly made all of those works not canon. I know they still exist and all, but it's still pretty insulting to the people that poured so much time and energy into making these stories.

I can't comment on many of the books and none of the comics. But it's rubbish that games that were made by LucasArts and approved by Lucas aren't canon.

If I could indulge my fanboy side and make some suggestions: the Darth Bane trilogy by Drew Karpyshyn is pretty fantastic (though you could just stick with the first book, it's the best of the 3), Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover, the Revenge of the Stih novelization also by Matthew Stover (he makes Ep. 3 good! That's supposed to be impossible!) the Han Solo Adventure trilogy by Brian Daley are all fantastic reads.

As for comics, I'm partial to the Legacy series (not to be confused with the Legacy of the Force novel series) and the Knights of the Old Republic series (mostly not relevant to the games, though there are some cameos and references). And if you're looking for comedy and lots of fourth wall breakage, look up Tag & Bink, a hilarious- and intentionally non-canon- four part series basically making fun of everything in the movies.

Sorry if that's kind of lengthy, but I'm as big a SW fan as I am a KH fan.  :3

If we're talking novels, The Last of The Jedi series was amazing. Just a few months after Order 66 and it sets up Obi-Wan's training with Qui Gon.

Aw, man, I'd never even heard of that series; now I have to check it out!

See, SW has such a massive universe across so many media that I haven't even heard of half of it, and now Disney is shutting it all down. firetruckin' tragedy.

agreed though its not so much not cannon as it is an alternate timeline as declared by some of the people who wrote the books and comics after Disney came to this decision without any input from the fans I might add. Regardless however their not allowing it to continue past the point it had been published leading many fans such as myself angry and confused eternally on what would happen from there when they could have easily just done things like Marvel and have any many universes as they or the fans want. Another thing is while claiming they made this decision to be easier for movie goers their continuing to write books to fill in the thirty year time gap and replacing The Force Unleashed with Star Wars Rebels all of which I'm pretty sure causal movie goers have no intention of watching or reading ( especially considering one of these is a kids show) leaving them just as confused as before if not worse. Sorry if I'm ranting but things like this just piss me off including the removal of the first series on Cartoon Network from when I was little explaining the kidnapping of Palpatine and how Anakin got the scar he had in episode three as well as the newer Clone Wars TV show many young and old had gotten so heavily invested in.

The original Clone Wars cartoon was made by Cartoon Network not LucasFilm. LucasFilm were too busy making Episode III, they made The Clone Wars straight after Episode III. They were going to explain the scar and the kidnapping of Palpatine but they couldn't since Disney cancelled it.

Which once more proves my point.

Also as a side note The Last of the Jedi were some of my favorite books as well and the first Star wars books I had ever read.

Yeah, they were great. I'm really glad they're still using the Inquisitor in Rebels.

Actually that kind of makes me more upset they said they wouldn't be using anything from the books comics or games claiming there were to many Sith Jedi and concepts that veered to far from the movies and now their just ripping them off one after the other continuing to be just a bunch of hypocrites.

Pretty sure they said they would be using a lot of the content. Like this and the fact the Stormtroopers aren't Clones.

Not when they first announced all this stuff no. However I've been staying away from news for a while so they could've reneged on that as well.

Well they confirmed the Stormtroopers not being Clones when Rebels started.

I realize I might be a little more spirited about this than some people but this along with The Lord of the Rings were two of my first real books in a time when I was only really reading superhero comics and didn't really care about anything else.

Well they confirmed the Stormtroopers not being Clones when Rebels started.

I'm talking about before they even started playing that show or had concept art released.

This does a little more than piss more off.  An added fact is that Disney shut down Lucas Arts after purchasing all rights to the Lucas Films industry. Did you know Lucas Arts had a really bad ass Darth Maul game planned? They were tweaking the story and making realistic gameplay (lightsaber actually cut off limbs). Too bad Disney shut them down and cancelled just about every piece of work they were working on at the time.
