What's Your Favorite Final Boss Fight?

So what's your favorite final boss fight? For me, I have a few that are my favorite. But if I had to pick one of them, than I would pick this one. This song alone should tell you what final boss I'm talking about.

 

 

 

This is seriously one of my favorite final bosses in video games. I really like how Kojima put in J-pop music for this fight. That's something that you never really see in a video game.This song alone made this boss fight with Paz feel epic.

I'd say Persona 3 because of how cool it is, but honestly it's just so arbitrarily long that it kind of takes away from the whole experience. So I'd probably say the Red battle in GSC or HGSS, because it's something that comes out of left field and you don't expect until you climb Mt. Silver and see him at the summit.

Totally, I love the fight, but it made me ultimately frustrated.

 

Meaning, after one hour or so, I have almost beaten Nyx arcana... and then someone (meaning mostly Mitsuru) gets charmed and I can't heal them and they cast diarahan and BAM! HE GETS ALL THE HP BACK! >.<''That, or I get rage and the others are too dumb to heal me.

 

 

In a way I preferred P4 final boss, but it just wasn't as epic. And it was pretty easy.

Fighting "Solo Wing Pixy" in Ace Combat Zero. The fugger pilots the most legendary craft in the game that had a fricking laser beam as a primary weapon, and the way he portrays his viewpoint on justifying his action makes you sympathetic of his actions. The best part? The weakness of the craft is the jet intakes, meaning you have to essentially do a mid-air jousting against a technologically superior foe who has a greater attack range than you do. Oh yeah, and you have to shoot down a nuke before it gets out of range. And to top it all of on sheer awesomeness, the music is freaking legendary.

Zeus in god of war 3, the Music was just so firetrucking epic and the Setting and the Story :OOOO MAKES ME WANNA REPLAY THE GAME

 

Also terra xehanort in BBS final episode. Same reasons as above , music, story and setting

For me it was the final boss in Dark Souls. The music, the environment, the fact that this once powerful, magnificent god is now just some dying old man desperate to beat you. It completely took me by surprise and it was the most beautiful final boss fight i had ever faced ;u;

The final boss fight against Wheatley in Portal 2. It had great music, humor, and a fast paced challenge (for me anyway). I quite enjoyed listening to Wheatley shout gibberish while throwing bombs. As he slowly but surely destroyed the place.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SOME GAMES

 

In the time I've played videogames, I've enjoyed a whole lot of them, and that said, have played a whole lot of final bosses.

 

That said, I don't have a specific "favorite". I have quite a few on my dislike and even hated list, but the bosses I have enjoyed all kind of sit in the same area for one reason or another. The three I will bring up are as follows:

 

Fossil Fighters for the DS (I'll play most anything with any resemblance to pokemon)

 

Kingdom Hearts 2

 

And Xenoblade Chronicles (yes, an obvious choice).

 

First off, the final fight with Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts 2. To be honest, this one is easily one of the absolute coolest battles ove ever had the pleasure to not only play, but watch. Now, I haven't gotten to play a whole lot of other games(for one, Shadow Of the Colossus) that have gigantic, amazing, and challenging bosses, but, this boss has basically a gigantic monster fight, which makes me wonder what a world with absolutely massive bosses is like. And I love it. It has fast-paced action, and even has an unexpected ending bit (where Xemnas dose the final areal dragon fight and the like.)

 

But that's now why I love it. The master of Nothingness, the man you believe to be the final step in your journey, has pulled you into the void, where he uses what's left of his powers granted by Kingdom Hearts to try and finally finish off Sora and Riku in a clash that leads to a absolutely awestriking final effort attack by Xemnas via a dome of lasers which Sora and Riku then must reflect back and have almost then be instantly replaced with two more, Xemnas almost taking Sora's heart, and a end only suitable for him: to then melt into nothingness itself. Tell me that wasn't just about the coolest looking battle you have seen in a E10 game, and I'll say you're lying.

 

Next, Fossil Fighters. The really quirky, odd story that predates this is summerized as such:

 

You make it to an island filled with rediculious amounts of fossils of just about every kind of Dinosaur to compete and learn about the Vivasaur game that people on the island play by unearthing and reviving said fossils into said Vivasaurs. After you make it, an odd team of fossil-crazed team rockets be getting in your way, this girl you know is cursed and forced to say "Diga" or some for of the word nearly every time she speaks, clear the equivalent of gyms, discover an alien species (whom you later defeat and slight romance subplot between you and the Diga girl, or you and an alien of the species. You also gain control of the alien teams Vivasaurs as part of post game. Very abridged plot over.

 

The final boss is basically an alien creature that is bent on eating the earth, as I recall, and if you don't defeat it, game over. You're firetrucked. Dead. Human race is doomed. And you're like 10 years old. You are inside a world eating beast, killing it, and saving the world. I would say that's pretty awesome. It also tests your skills with the system of fighting very well, the fight itself is dificult and fun, even if it dosen't do anything diffrent.

 

And finally, Xenoblade freaking Chronicles.

 

What can I say about this final boss? It's in true Monolith style. The story is really what makes this one up. It starts as a revenge plot, very similar to Attack On Titan in the begining, for those who haven't played the game but seen that anime (if I recall, however, Xenoblade came out before AoT.) With the main enemy force consuming and killing, and a person in the main characters life being killed viciously by a new kind of enemy. But from there, it gets nuts. After a while, the entire revenge against the Mechon, the enemy's of the game, ends up being dropped (hell, the main even forgives and tries to save the murderer from dying himself, though to no avail) and sent at another person all together, Egil, a Machina, the people of the original opposing force. But then, in a twist of fate, it turns out he was trying to stop the cataclysm of Zanza, the controller of the Mechonis, create of anything resembling a natural living thing, killing and absorbing the life force of every living on Bionis, then going on to destroying and recreating the world for his own purpose and survival. So we beat two of Zanza's deciples, Dickson, a previous friend of ours and basically a father figure of Shulk, Lorithia, of a type of people called the High Entia, and now go on to a small boss rush. You face a few of the main force bosses from before (but considerably weaker they seem, even though their level is much higher than before) and it shows you how strong you and your team has gotten, then into the fight itself.

 

For one, you can't normally see visions, as at this point, you have lost the Monado. And Zanza is a god. He summons two guardian-like team mates, and his Artes are painful and because he is so gigantic with two, gigantic blades, can hit a lot and hit hard. After a period of time, you gain back the ability to do visions, although only if you time it right (it times just like the support increase timer, so you'll not have trouble doing this) and you start destroying him. Eventually, he gets so beaten up that he is on the ropes. Shulk, out of no where then, manages to create a third Monado and murder god.

 

Then, back story time. Zanza originally was just a scientist trying to tap into the power of gods. He just wanted to be able to create world's himself. In an orbital space station, this man took their theories on how to do it, and with his team, did it successfully. Except... it destroyed everything all that was left was a boundless ocean, Zanza, and the Mechonis counterpart god. At first, they both created people, world's they loved and cherished. But... the people on Bionis wanted to leave. Travel past this endless ocean and see what was next. Zanza, fearing this, fearing that the beings he created and needed to be returned to him upon death so he could contenue his life would leave with the help of the Machina counterparts who also wanted to see the world above, he waged war on those of the Mechonis, resulting in where we are now.

 

This is all told to us by Alvis, a engmatic, mysterious character, whom we discover is the computer system from the space station, and that now Shulk has to choose what world will come next, as the current one will soon completely expire as Zanza had intended. In it, Shulk wishes for a world that has no limkts, and we see our outro.

 

Now, the boss itself. It's a multi-stage boss with the second strongest thing ever to exist (as since there are two gods, there are two Monado's, however, when the Machina god is killed, her Monado is taken by Zanza, making him two times the god he was before, and the first being Alvis) where you travel through space and time, combating Zanza with all your willpower, as he takes on both traits of the titans of the Mechonis and Bionis, dose some amazing attacks, and can push you into a corner of space an shove his blades so far up you you may as well just be a human sheath. It's punishing, it looks fantastic, and since you have to do the timed visions, keeps things intrest in and keep you on your feet. Not to mention that he can do Chain attacks as well.

Every final boss in KH is pretty epic, but I feel like I should talk about games outside of that. Vergil from DMC3 & DmC are pretty epic fights. General Azimuth from Ratchet & Clank Future: A crack in time is a fun one. Abbadon from Darksiders. Alex Mercer from [Prototype2] I guess. Alucard possessed by Satan in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Most God of War battles. Those are just off the top of my head. OH, and Emperor Doviculous from Brutal Legend.

I found Kid Icarus: Uprising's Hades and Xion from 358/5 days to be my favorites. Hades was a fun challenge and a really funny boss that's equal to Wheatley from Portal (especially with Pit and Hades shouting each other's names before the fight) while for Xion was kind of a big challenge with her ever changing forms. Once I beat her, I felt horrible since I killed one of my favorite characters (that's female) from KH series and had the worst line said to her while she was dying (still mad at Roxas for that).

I am not that fan of final bosses because they are most of the times annoying, these are exceptions I guess: - Marluxia (Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories)

- Young Xehanort (Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance)

- Great Glades (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates)

I really liked

the second final boss fight where you fight the other playable character

in Muramasa: The Demon Blade on the Nintendo Wii. The ending that Momohime gets from that is also a reason that it's my favorite. I just love it when you get to fight characters of equal skill in video games.

Probably Red from Pokemon Silver. I remember never being able to take him down as a kid, so it felt great defeating him when I was older. It was also an unexpected and really suspenseful fight.
