Dracozombie 4,554 Posted November 7, 2014 Even if the original director is in charge, I'm rather nervous about this one. Toy Story 3 wrapped things up so neatly that it's hard to picture where these characters can go next. They wouldn't undo anyone's character development or anything (three films and it's clear things have changed). They wouldn't try to preserve the status quo because the one of the films' core themes is accepting change, rather than stubbornly clinging onto the past and present. They wouldn't try to change the status quo because everything seems so satisfactory -- the films have been building up to where Toy Story 3 ended, and it ended on such a heartwarming and final note that any further conflict would seem artificially shoehorned in. I suppose Toy Story has yet to let me down, so I should give them more faith with what they can come up with, but I was really hoping they'd let the series stay as it is. 4 Firaga, The Transcendent Key, Weedanort and 1 other reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) I have to agree with Dracozombie here. Toy Story 3 culminated everything on a high note, and when you think about it, this movie trilogy really represented us. We grew up seeing these movies, and when Toy Story 3 came out, we were all grown up and literally about to go to college, so I think that's another reason behind the appeal of the movies. The fact that we literally grew up with these characters and bid farewell to them at the end of Toy Story 3. I too, am quite nervous as to how Pixar will handle this sequel. Don't get me wrong though, the writers on board are very talented, but they'll have to find a hell of a good way to make the story better than Toy Story 3. I consider that'll be a difficult task, considering the third one was so melancholy and down to earth, and well, pretty much an emotional high note. But, this is Pixar we're talking about, so I say heck, if they can come up with a good story for Toy Story 4, then I'm all in for it! Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted November 7, 2014 Hmm...not sure how I feel about this. Toy Story 3 seemed a little similar to Toy Story 2 in some aspects so I'm a bit nervous to see what they do with a fourth movie. I'll hold my judgement for when it actually comes out though. Green Sparrow 795 Posted November 7, 2014 Marvel has literally nothing to do with this at all. Marvel and DC are big rivals in the superhero realm. Pixar, Dreamworks, and Illumination are big rivals in the animation realm. Having these three animation studios square off in the same month is equivalent to a Marvel film and a DC film squaring off. I was referring to the rivalry, not just Marvel specifically. Please read carefully.

Please read carefully.I don't know if it's THAT big of a rivalry. DC and Marvel have been around since the 30's. Also more people are passionate about choosing sides between the comic book franchises. It's more friendly competition when you get to animation. No one's talking smack to each other like Samuel Jackson and Stan Lee did about DC.
Ceriraye 485 Posted November 7, 2014 There's no reason as to make another one. Toy story 3 was a perfect way to end it. IMO it seems unnecessary and silly to waste time with it.
Weedanort 8,786 Posted November 7, 2014 Why? Toy Story 3 was a perfect ending for the series, why do another movie? 2 Yu Narukami and 2 quid is good reacted to this

I think a lot of people in the animation community would disagree lol but I admit animation rivalries are friendlier. Marvel and DC are constantly competing no matter when they release things, whereas this one month in 2017 is really the only time when animation fans have to "pick a side". Do you pick sides when it comes to animation? I just look at them as a one large category. I guess if I had to choose, it would have to be Disney animation and this includes Pixar. But if say Dreamworks makes a movie that intrigues me, I wouldn't feel obligated to not see it just because Disney is my favorite. But I can't go on a DC video on YouTube without people commenting "Oh DC sucks Marvel will always win because their movies are better" and just ignorant stuff like that. Riku21Terr 214 Posted September 22, 2015 This fan made trailer here nailed what Pixar is all about with their movies. They would be proud like I know I am. I imemadeitly forgot that this was fan made. Even Pixar would have used archive footage (though not to the extreme for the while trailer here). The music, textual narration and footage from past movies used is the perfect way to set up the next chapter. They even included a mysterious bit of footage at the very end from who knows where, though (some of ) Woody's was likely cropped from somewhere: 1 Kaweebo reacted to this
Yu Narukami 55 Posted October 4, 2015 My childhood died with Toy Story 3. There does not need to be a 4th!! The ending was perfect. I swear to god if they're gonna start milking the franchise again... I will....... I'm gonna....I'm gonna.... eat a sandwich or something....
Wyle 123 Posted October 4, 2015 Why? Toy Story 3 was a perfect ending for the series, why do another movie? When it comes to movies, if it makes money then directors will make it. Tbh, I'm interested and excited to see how this one plays out. Looking forward to it! 1 JBone reacted to this
