Shulk 8,623 Posted January 29, 2015 Unfortunately my most anticipated game goes to Zelda U. Splatoon is my most anticipated summer title. At least I can say Nintendo has my most anticipated roster filled out with Zelda, Splatoon, Xenoblade, Yoshi, and so on. I'll have to award them with Developer of the Year. They've definitely got a great lineup this year. Of course, a sequel to my favorite game is taking my most anticipated spot.

This title is running to challenge Zelda for Game of the Year this year. Like, I believe both titles will be in the run for GOTY at this year's game awards show. I see no reason for either to not be in the run. 1 Shulk reacted to this

I see no reason for either to not be in the run. I'll be incredibly disappointed if neither one ends up getting at least one GOTY nomination (Of course, I feel like Zelda's guaranteed a nomination since it's such a popular franchise). I still want to see more of Zelda U before I feel like I can have a solid opinion on how I feel it will be (It looks fantastic so far of course, but I'd really like to see more gameplay some time soon), but I definitely believe both will deserve a shot at becoming GOTY. Of course, everyone here knows what my personal game of the year will be. 1 Hero of Winds reacted to this
Shulk 8,623 Posted February 2, 2015 Nintendo Japan has announced a presentation focusing on Xenoblade X will be streamed later this week! This presentation is going to focus on the game's world, so we'll probably see even more in-game areas we'll be able to explore when we visit Planet Mira! It seems like this presentation will only be streamed in Japanese, but those of us outside Japan can still tune in. It's going to be shown on Friday (Times for different timezones are listed in the source link). I'll be waking up really early to watch it, but it's definitely going to be worth it.

Shulk 8,623 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Well, we've only got one character this week. Either way, I should report on him, since he seems to be an important character. Anyway, this bio is for Maurice! This is the same guy who appeared on that screen on the building in New Los Angeles during the E3 2014 trailer. According to my crappy Google Translate translation of his bio, Maurice is the president's aide (Or was back when he was on Earth, as I said I'm running off of a really bad translation here, I can't figure out if that was past or present tense), and a representative of the human population on Planet Mira. Source/Bio: I honestly doubt he'll be a party member, but instead an important NPC in the story. Hopefully we'll get on to more party members soon, since a few other characters who were shown along with Login/Logan and the others in Dolls still haven't received bios. Shulk 8,623 Posted February 6, 2015 Oh boy... we've got a TON of news today. Prepare for a long news post, everyone... First off, the Xenoblade X stream was aired a few hours ago! We received a lot of new details on Planet Mira, including information about NLA, the different continents, and some of the inhabitants of the planet. Nintendolife translated and summarized the entire stream, so I'll post their summary below! First up was an information dump on the game's base of operations — the city of New Los Angeles (NLA). Apparently the city will feel truly alive with restaurants, shops, chapels and even holidays the citizens of NLA recognize and enjoy. Humans are trying to survive in NLA, and by the amount of pools, parks, and other luxuries shown it's apparent they're doing a good job of it. The city won't just be a place to live, however. It also features factories where the player can upgrade/fix Dolls, buy weapons, and all the standard JRPG fair that comes with massive hub-towns. Next, the video detailed a couple of the 'unions' or jobs that the player can take part in during the game. One of them, the Pathfinder, was given a lot of detail. In this union, the game requires the player to search out and place probes which reveal information on Frontier NET, a navigation system located on the Wii U's GamePad. The GamePad then displays various icons on the map. One icon signifies that a formidable creature resides in that area, and another hints at treasure to be discovered. The second job went into detail about completing miscellaneous quests for the residents of NLA - kill monsters for this lady, search for a missing item for that man, and the like. This is a union rooted in standard RPG quest structures, and is also useful for information on the planet itself. While completing quests, a "social link" type system will strengthen ties between the citizens of NLA, but it remains to be seen how this will affect gameplay in the long term. A creature called Tatsu took over the presentation to give us a better look at the planet Mira itself. The quirky critter stressed Mira is massive and made up of many different landmasses. The first landmass looked akin to Gaur Plains from Xenoblade Chronicles, bright, green, and full of abrupt cliffs. The second landmass shown was dubbed a night forest and featured dark skies and bright, luminescent plants. The third was more or less a desert with dusty monster bones littered about, the fourth a creepy island where all the scenery was some shade of white, and the fifth was a 'black metal island,' home to volcanoes and massive, metallic bridges. There appeared to be more locations than just these. Each area looked quite large and Tatsu stressed they had many different landmarks, caves, and secret areas to find; exploration and diversity seem to be a strong theme for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Fortunately, with a world so large there are multiple ways to get around it. Players can run fast, jump high, and fast travel between landmarks. More importantly, Xenoblade Chronicles X introduces a ball of bright light called a Navigation Ball to help, well, navigate Mira. The ball fluidly flies ahead of the party and helps players find objectives without getting lost. The navigation ball also features a 'hover mode," where it will fly high in the sky and give players a bird's eye view of their surroundings. Dolls are also used to move around the world and reach the aforementioned secrets and hidden areas too, and it's confirmed they can transform into different vehicles; we saw a car / bike hybrid and a brief glimpse of a boat. However, it was mentioned a license is needed before piloting a Doll, suggesting that the robot suits are off limits for a portion of the game. Last, the showcase detailed the variety of life that inhabits Mira, from colossal monsters to tiny creatures that — if we translated correctly — really like pizza. As for creatures to hunt down, they come in small and big sizes, and vary greatly in appearance depending on which area of the game they live in. Some creatures of a certain type look like their kin, but in fact are dangerous, boss-like counterparts to be avoided. A variety of intelligent docile creatures inhabit the land as well, including Tatsu's potato-like Nopon race, a blue-haired humanoid that's also an art connoisseur, and the aforementioned floppy eared pizza lovers. All told, the 24 minute reveal gave us enough to chew on for the moment. Xenoblade Chronicles X looks to be a massive game with a lot of care given to its environments. Maybe this wasn't enough to entirely satisfy our curiosity, but at the end of the broadcast the character Elma — a curt silver-haired woman — implied another showcase will be on the way, and that it will tackle Xenoblade Chronicles X's combat systems. This was apparently a feature also intended for the original Xenoblade game, but it had to be cut due to time constraints. Glad this gets fixed. I pretty much bring my phone with me whenever I go to play it so I can google for anything I need to find. I'm happy they're adding in an encyclopedia, too. They apparently hinted the 3DS remake of the original might add one in as well, which I'm really hoping is true. 1 Sendou Aichi reacted to this

The video is short but it's still something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WxvPIzZ5ok Also: Once you start a new game in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you’ll be prompted to make your own avatar. The immediate choices you have are gender, face types, body size (female character also get bust size) and more.Going a little deeper into the system, you can customize skin with its color tone, freckles, cheeks for the face, scars, and moles. Hairstyle, hair color, eye form and colors can all be customized as well.As for makeup, there are options for eye shadow color, lip color, and face paint.Voice selection includes the type of voices like a military-type or a “bro” type, or maybe a “tsundere” voice or princess voice. Each of these voices are marked with their respective Japanese voice actors as well. Some staff members shared their characters too. There's more pictures on the article page here. Shulk 8,623 Posted February 12, 2015 Oh, hey, we've got some other screenshots and videos relating to other aspects of the game, too! As for the videos, the first is Lyn giving us an overview of NLA! It's all in Japanese without subtitles, but it's still nice to get a view of the city! The second shows how the quest system works in this game. It looks like there's a terminal in town that we can go to, and select quests from a list. Quests look like they're ranked in terms of difficulty. The third video is a short clip showing the navigation orb we learned about during that last Direct. Shulk 8,623 Posted February 21, 2015 More news! First off, Monolith gave us some information about how exploration will work in the game, and gave us a better description of how the probes will work! I'll quote an article here, since there were a lot of details. Just recently, Monolith Soft updated the Japanese website for Xenoblade X with several new details (translated by Siliconera) on how exploration of Mira will unfold. Exploration is organized under “Frontier Net", a system used by the humans to keep track of everything discovered on the alien world. Scattered about the world is a region-based checkpoint system called Frontier Net Spots, which gifts the player with rare materials or upgrades for Data Probes upon being located. Data Probes are add-ons that can be installed at Frontier Net Spots which grant certain benefits over the particular region of the map for that Frontier Net Spot. These are some of the different Data Probes: Mining Probe: Increase production and the amount of Miranium that can be gathered. Research Probe: Discovering secret areas will yield bigger profits. Battle Probe: Players will be given various buffs and effects. Storage Probe: Increase the maximum amount of Miranium that can be stored at once. Power-up Probe: Increase the functionality of other nearby probes. Copy Probe: Copies functions of nearby probes All of the management of Frontier Net Spots, as well as fast-travel, will be handled via a hexagon grid - called the Segment Map - on the GamePad. Different regions on the Segment Map will be marked according to objectives pertaining to that area, such as quest beginnings, unique monsters, treasure chest locations, and sidequests. As players won't have immediate access to mechs, the Hopper Camera will be an overhead camera controlled like a drone that can be used to scope out environments, plot paths, and find secret areas. If players ever have a difficult time finding where the next main story objective is located, the Navigation Ball - a Navi the Fairy-like tool - can be used to guide the player towards the next objective. Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/02/new_details_discovered_on_xenoblade_chronicles_xrs_exploration_system Secondly, another character was added to the Japanese website for Xenoblade Chronicles X! This time, we got information on Lou, the blue alien who spoke with Cross and the others during the recent Direct (At least I'd assume that was Lou). Lou is a native inventor on Planet Mira. I couldn't really decipher much else of his profile, to be honest. As usual, I'll link it below so you can all check it out and see if you can figure out what else it says. SmashLegendRiku 97 Posted February 21, 2015 I hope Ru/Lou is playable, because he's by far my second favorite character at the moment, just behind Elma. The new alien species in this game are fantastic. Just when I think this game can't look any better we get another batch of trailers and I am blown off my seat. I know a game like this would take forever to localize but please please please please PLEASE at least be a late Summer release so I can play it when I actually have time. >____< 1 Shulk reacted to this
