hatok 6,413 Posted December 26, 2014 Uh...The title isn't always directly related to the plot in Monolith Soft Games. Just for the info.I feel the music just lacks the soul that Yoko Shinimura adds. It's the same soul used to compose all the music in Kingdom Hearts, but on a grander scale. but with Xenoblade Chronicles it was. Why keep the name if there's no actual Xenoblade? Shulk 8,623 Posted December 26, 2014 but with Xenoblade Chronicles it was. Why keep the name if there's no actual Xenoblade? I think Nintendo just wants to keep the name of the series "Xenoblade" now that they bought out Monolith Soft. It's like how they call it "Xenoblade" in Smash instead of "Xeno." It's like how they call it "Xenoblade" in Smash instead of "Xeno." Smash only features Xenoblade characters, so it makes sense to call it Xenoblade But if the sequel is different from Xenoblade, call it Xeno-something else. Xenoworld. Xenogun, Xenoplanet, Xenophobia, whatever works
Guest Posted December 26, 2014 but with Xenoblade Chronicles it was. Why keep the name if there's no actual Xenoblade?Because Nintendo likes series, not individual stories.Just throwing it out there, but Yoko Shimomura wasn't the only composer for Xenoblade. ACE+ also did a lot of work with the game (Including You Will Know Our Names, AKA best boss theme in anything ever). I agree that she also made a lot of great tracks for the game, and the work in Xenoblade was probably better than her work in KH.ACE+, as I recall, is still involved, but this new composer is very restrictions and very limiting, likes everything a certain way. Yoko, being one of the two main forces, just basically helped ACE+, and likewise to her. The new composer is known for his style, but IMO, it's a little too dark and brooding for my tastes. He is the same composer of Shengeki No Koujin, as well, so there is that. He normally composes for things similar to SNK, due to his very gothic and intense style. He uses a lot of vocal corus, and uses a lot more in terms of traditional instrument and style of playing said instrument.
Guest Posted December 26, 2014 Now inputting my take on the song itself. Despite using diffrent instrument styles, and even technologically-made sounds, it seems very similar and very much like his other work. I think this song is one of the few the Composer has actually let ACE+ put in more on. It sounds more colorful than some of the previous work, even if only mildly. Again he makes use of heavy vocals at least once to "emphasize" the seriousness of the music. The auto tune is strong in it though, as though used t make an attempt at masking the use of the vocals. I'm not saying that OST's shouldn't have vocals in them, but in a Video game where we want to hear the characters speak, not the song, that can be at the very least irritating. It is don't in the composers usual style, gussied up with some light auto tune and use of more non-traditional instruments to try and hide the fact that the song itself is rather bland. 7.5/10 too much autotune. hatok 6,413 Posted December 26, 2014 It's the Attack on Titan guy? Man, that guy has no range Seriously, you can piece together Attack on Titan's opening song from bits and pieces of songs from Bravely Default
Xiro 3,468 Posted December 26, 2014 Hmm... Hiroyuki Sawano had done pretty well on his anime soundtracks. I'm not sure what he's done with games though, so that's a bit worrying. I guess the trailer song worked for the trailer, but I don't really want a song like that playing while I'm running through a field or fighting in a standard fight. (I guess that's where ACE+ comes in?) Also, the X in Xenoblade X is Cross (at least in Japan )

It's what I like the least of DNK, outside of the terrible animation quality at times.Hmm... Hiroyuki Sawano had done pretty well on his anime soundtracks. I as I recall, any time he is paired with another composer he isn't too giving to them on the sound design he dose. I'm quite literally stunned by this new release as its the closes to a range he has come to outside of his own personal one. His music sounds good for a while, but hearing eccentially the same song gets boring.

Shulk 8,623 Posted January 14, 2015 We got a new trailer during today's Direct! It mostly showed off the locations you can visit, but it did go into the plot a little bit. Setrex 1,031 Posted January 14, 2015 The game is out in Japan on the 29th April. Hopefully that means we can get a summer release The new trailer was great, though I hoped to see more battle gameplay and more mechs, I can't be disappointed with the environments looking as great as they do. The world looks like it'll be fun to explore in! 1 Shulk reacted to this

I'm still curious about what Growth is. 1 Setrex reacted to this

hatok 6,413 Posted January 14, 2015 It might be the music. The music isn't too tasty. the environments and stuff aren't doing it for me either. Xenoblade was a really cool concept with lots of striking visuals, but now it looks like we're jsut getting generic alien planet stuff Not feeling the story, either, again, Xenoblade was a cool concept... this just feels like a generic anime. and I don't even WATCH much anime, and can still tell it seems generic 1 advfox reacted to this

Then the aliens attacked again, and they crash landed on Earth. Now a guy with a gun has to explore the planet

It might not be as exciting as the original game's, but it's too soon to call it a generic, bad storyline. 2 Setrex and Reyn reacted to this

We have the basics. and the game is coming out soon. Doesn't that concern you? The last time I bought something expecting there to be a good story when none was shown I bought Paper Mario Sticker Star Xenoblade looked interesting enough that I went out and bought it day one. Nothing is being done to sell me on this generic anime with a less interesting world
