Shulk 8,623 Posted December 1, 2015 Once more, I've watched hours of gameplay footage (in Japanese) and compared the characters to those in the original game, and henceforth have come to the conclusion that Xenoblade possesses more thought out characters in my opinion. Yes, I have not played the game, but in seeing others play the game (via walkthrough) I know how it plays from the first couple hours, and admittedly skipped around here and there to see the change in the chemistry of the characters. I have not asserted once that the game is bad I've never asserted once that I won't be playing it myself, and in fact if I didn't give a damn about it I wouldn't be here, because I as I'm sure many of us on KH13 aren't fond of trolling. BUT I have made a judgement based on what I saw, which I believe isn't an unfair judgement, and that's all I'm trying to get through. As I said, you can have your opinion. However, sudden statements about how the original is better in some regards doesn't actually come off as being particularly positive. Acting condescending and targeting others in your argument won't really help, either.

Clouded Sun 1,232 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) I never thought I'd be so excited for the destruction of earth in three days. I'm pretty excited too! Guest Posted December 1, 2015 As someone else said... The game isn't even out yet. Not sure how you know so much about a game you have yet to play, unless you imported or got an early copy. What's with all the unwarranted negative comments here these past few months from people who are seemingly experts on a game that none of us have played? It was out in Japan ages ago, I spoiled myself on the Xenoblade Wiki and seen that the overall character roster isn't as interesting as the original. Setrex 1,031 Posted December 2, 2015 (edited) Nintendo of Europe has released the Launch Trailer for the game. 2 more days people. Edit: Some people on Twitter have been bitching that the trailer is full of spoilers, but as someone who is watching it completely out of context, I have no idea how it is in spoiler territory. It shows a bunch of characters (some I'm seeing for the first time), battles and just mechs flying about the place. So if you aren't that fussed about just seeing more of the game then by all means click, if you want to avoid seeing ANY characters or "oh no aliens and humans are fighting" then probably avoid it. Still, nice to see that NoE have been steadily pumping out videos these last few weeks to promote the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb8QpABNTPM Edited December 2, 2015 by KHSoraKeyBlade

The only real spoiler I saw was at the very end, after showing the SE and Wii U bundle. Anyone who wants to avoid major spoilers should probably stop there, but it's still nothing too big. (Definitely not as bad as GameXplain spoilers, that's for sure.) I wish that NoA was advertising the game was much as NoE is. It's making me worried that X won't sell very well out here, and that Nintendo would use that as an excuse to not bring the next Xeno game out here... 1 Setrex reacted to this

Yeah I thought the video ended after they showed the bundles, but then I saw the clip. Still don't know what it is all about though Did GameXplain spoil the game in their review? I saw the Q&A they did, but I've generally avoided their videos on the game. I wouldn't worry about it. My guess is Monolith are already in early stages of the next Xeno game (maybe for NX?) and if Nintendo had any brains they'd make the system region free so even if Reggie and the rest of those fools in the Treehouse don't see potential in localising another Xeno game, at the very least a British NoE localisation could happen again? Maybe... I wish.

Maybe... I wish. I didn't watch their review (I actually blocked their channel since they spoil so much), but before I blocked them, I saw a thumbnail for one of their videos that showed a massive spoiler, or at least it looked like one. It was pretty annoying. I remember them spoiling Smash and some other games, as well. As for the clip at the end of this new trailer... (Potential spoilers, this is all just speculation based on that final clip) The voice sounded like Elma's, although she sounded perfectly normal just before that last line... The hair looked a little different, too. Of course, there was another scene with what looked like Elma falling down... My best guess is that the woman at the end is Elma, after gaining a new mechanical body similarly to what happened to Fiora in the original Xenoblade. We'll all find out soon here, though. Also, to those who have seen the Japanese footage, please don't tell me if I'm right or not. I'd rather have it be a surprise. I've never been one to care much for region lock debates, but that would actually be really nice in the case that NoA decides against bringing another Xeno game here. I get the feeling that X will do well in Europe with all of the advertising it's getting, while out here, we've just got the Survival Guides that come out at really odd intervals... I mean, there is a commercial that I've seen as an ad on some YouTube videos already, but NoA should be trying to advertise it the same way that NoE is. NoE (or at least the UK branch as that's the stuff I mostly see) are very good at having ads on TV. I always see ads for Mario Maker and Splatoon on there. I'll keep my eye out if Xenoblade X shows up, but if I remember correctly, there were definitely ads for Xenoblade 3D on TV which was great to see GameXplain has a bit of a habit to (weather intentionally or not) include a lot of spoilers in their videos. I personally did that with GameXplain, and it's worked well for me. Yeah, it's really weird. They have been getting better about TV commercials, but it's typically just for more well-known games. It took them months after the release of Xenoblade 3D to even mention it in their New 3DS commercials. It's really disappointing how little care they have in advertising Xenoblade. I still can't quite get over the coverage it got in our Direct last month. They essentially just said "Xenoblade X is coming in December, go on our YouTube page if you want to see more about it." There wasn't a trailer or anything, just a brief mention of it. They at least talked about the data packs, but that was it. Speaking of the data packs, I really need to clear space so I can get the rest of them. I think I'll end up deleting the Fatal Frame trial for now... Shulk 8,623 Posted December 10, 2015 So... now that the game's been out for almost a week, now's a good time to talk about it. I'll just get straight to the point here: I think this one might have beaten the original for me, which is an incredibly difficult thing to do, seeing as how the original is my favorite game of all time. I love the new combat system and all of the depth behind it. It's a little different from the original, but there's so much added in to it that it feels a lot more strategic and involving. Jumping around the enemy and reacting to the Soul Voices is a ton of fun. Skells are also a lot of fun to use, too. Can't wait until I can get the flight module! As for the characters, I've seen a lot of complaints about them everywhere, so I'm just assuming I must have really bad taste in writing as I absolutely love the new cast. Every party member I've gotten so far is interesting and a lot of fun to see in action, and the NPCs are all great too. Lin's my favorite, of course, but I really like all of them. I'm also liking the story, although it isn't as deep as the original's. I'm a sucker for science fiction, and this game did a great job in that regard. The game also looks great, with all sorts of really cool settings catching my attention (More on that soon). The soundtrack in general is pretty average, but there are a few tracks that I think are about as good as those of the original game's (Uncontrollable, The Way, Noctilum's theme, and ThemeX all come to mind). I've had a couple minor issues (FrontierNav-based missions are a bit frustrating, and having to hunt down party members in town to add them to your team can get slightly annoying), but those are completely overshadowed by all of the great things this game has to offer. I definitely plan on doing a full review once I've played more of the game (I'm about 35 hours in so far... I'd have played a lot more if it wasn't for school), but these are my thoughts so far. Anyway, since we were talking about pictures before... I might as well share some of my own! I have to just give the links since the forums don't seem to like Miiverse image extensions... I'll have to start with some of the great views I've found. https://d3esbfg30x759i.cloudfront.net/ss/WVW69ioYcHssYmNmEX https://d3esbfg30x759i.cloudfront.net/ss/WVW69iow7OA5zXz3dy I've also had a bit of fun with the new fashion gear option... https://d3esbfg30x759i.cloudfront.net/ss/WVW69ioy834Nh1Q9Ub And, finally, an example of this game's amazing script. https://d3esbfg30x759i.cloudfront.net/ss/WVW69ioSBNQ-MCIQh6
Isaix 924 Posted December 10, 2015 I haven't got time to play much yet,I'm only 10 hours in but so far its great, the world fun to explore, its really fun to play a game at your own pace, which reminds me of Majora's Mask where you can take your mind off the main quest and do tones of sidequests and just have fun exploring the world and solve peoples problems.I like the idea of the data prob, its so much fun to travel as far as you can and avoid the strong enemies and find that ray of light. The combat is just as good as the original,I kinda miss the visions but the weapon switching mechanic is pretty cool too and I can't wait to fight with a skell. The story doesn't seem to be as good as the original so far,10 hours in a lot more happened in the original, you already knew and care for the main characters, you had a cool villain and a great goal, but that's what I was expecting for an openworld game like this, the story can't be on the same level,my only issue with the game so far is the text size, why does it have to be so small,I can't even read most of it unless I go really close to my TV.My TV is not the biggest in the world, but I rarely seen text so small especially not on a Nintendo game. Kyouma-Blade 90 Posted December 15, 2015 I've been playing this game for about 60 hours or so, and just finished Chapter 7. Here are my thoughts on it so far. Gameplay: It improves on Xenoblade Chronicles so much. Array of new weapons and combat systems. Weapons/Classes: The weapons seem similar on the surface. Close range and long range. However, the arts that are attached to each weapon are unique and give each weapon its own role. For example, the shield has a tank role, the knife a debuff role, and the dual weapons a DPS role. I really can't decide which weapons to take in the end. There's just so many options. You can even mix and match the weapons after you max out a class branch. Right now, I have the Assault Rifle and the Photon Saber, and I've been getting so much burst damage in. Combat System: As you progress through the game, you get access to more layers of combat. Secondary cooldown, overdrive, augments, battle menu, soul voices. It keeps the game interesting. It gets deeper and deeper, but not too bad where I felt overwhelmed. They introduced what the game had to offer in a paced manner, and the mechanics aren't necessary to enjoy this game on the surface level. Invites the casual and min/maxing players. Story; Not much to say right now, since I'm not done yet. It's not as engaging as the previous game, but it's still slightly enjoyable. One thing I'm bugged about is how we're restricted to Elma and Lin for the story missions so far, and it doesn't seem like they're going to lift that anytime soon. I wish I could play with more characters during that time, but it's not that major, since I spend much more time doing missions and quests, which i dedicate my other members to. Characters: I have 16 characters right now. Each of them has their own personality, although some may seem shallow at first. I'm pretty impressed how many different characters you can get, and how they're each very different. As you play with them, your affinity between you and the character increases, opening new affinity missions that help expand on that character's personality and backstory. Some standouts include Hope, Irina, and Lao. Some characters i dislike are Lin, Tatsu, and L. The others I am okay with. Some downsides to them are that you're not going to have enough time to play them all and have them at a reasonable level. Some characters you get at level 13, some at level 24. You forget about one of them, and they're not usable until you grind them up, which can be tedious, especially with so many characters. Another one is that they can only have affinity with Cross. The some of the characters just won't have anything to do with another. Also, because of this, you cannot switch out Cross. I'm happy they gave me such a wide variety of cast members, but Cross does not have a personality. Self-inserts aren't interesting. Also, most of the characters have very little impact on the main story. It's more like Cross, Elma, and Lin are the only main characters. Everyone else sometimes helps out, depending on who you bring along, but most are benched. It's disappointing, since XC had all playable characters with a stake in the story. Specific Characters: Hope you get around the middle of the game. She is best girl so far. I like her giving personality and overall happiness. I wasn't sure about if I truly liked this character, but after the affinity mission, "A False Hope", I can say on no uncertain terms that she is my favorite character so far. That might change after I complete everyone's affinity missions, and complete the story, but I doubt it. I urge people to get to that affinity mission ASAP. Lin and Tatsu. Ugh. See, I wanted to like them. I thought I would like Lin. I wanted to give Tatsu a chance since I loved how they portrayed Riki in Xenoblade Chronicles. But, I can't say I enjoy them at all so far. Their whole shtick is that Lin teases Tatsu for looking like food. Lin at least has some personality in affinity missions, but when I see the duo interacting, I want to skip past it. It's becoming less of a running gag and more of beating a dead horse. Tatsu isn't even useful. He can't fight. Maybe he has some use later in the story, but man, I could just do without the two. I can't though, since they have a stake in the story, unlike other characters that I think are more interesting. Soundtrack: I like it. It's a very hit or miss OST, and I can see why. It has a lot of vocals, specifically some rap. I'm not bothered by it, though it's understandable why people don't like it. It's way off what the original sounded like. Different composer, different setting. I think the OST fits fine. Some standouts to me are Black Tar and Uncontrollable. This is just a sorts of rant. I don't think I could ever get my thoughts organized enough about this game to ever give a review I'm happy with. This game is amazing so far. I can't put this game down. Setrex 1,031 Posted December 30, 2015 Hey everyone I've finally had a chance to jump into Mira! Now I've only played one short 4 hour burst of the game today and I'm onto Chapter 3, but so far so good. Really enjoying the combat and the world is pretty damn nice to look at. Kyouma-Blade 90 Posted January 1, 2016 I finished up the game. Since I said what I wanted to say that doesn't go into spoiler territory already, I'll expand on the story here, specifically the last few chapters. Well. It's definitely not as good as the original game. The ending left so much unaccounted for. It's obviously setting it up for a sequel, but come on. Elma seems to imply Mira is something more than just a planet. The automatic translation between races and how the Ganglion and Professor B can't seem to leave. Adding on to how humanity is still functioning despite the loss of human consciousness in the lifehold, Mira is very peculiar to say the least. Theories speculate that Mira is some sort of purgatory, but I don't know how well that holds up. Then, you see Lao waking up when he should be dead, and someone walking up to him. I really feel like this game should've really wrapped up more than what it did. It hits with way too many plot twists at the last chapter, and it doesn't give a great explanation. I hope they get the greenlight to go for a sequel, or even think about making a sequel in the first place. Also, here's a good picture I grabbed

You're talking about Xenosaga though which is a NAMCO-BANDAI property. Xenoblade Chronicles is owned by Nintendo. Think of Xenosaga as the Bravely Default series and Xenoblade Chronicles as the Final Fantasy series. Sure, they have have similar elements with lore and assets but they're structurally different. The only reason as to why they all have the Xeno signature because they're all conceived by Tetsuya Takashi. We've only had two games released so we cannot jump to the conclusion that Xenoblade Chronicles III is a direct sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles X.
